Nice car! Definitely looks like it’s high quality. I’m planning to grow my die cast collection. Have a 1/64 90’s Porsche and Lamborghini plus I’ve already amassed an army of 1/64 die casts from initial d 😁 Planning to get a 1/18 of the ae86 trueno and yellow rx7 FD. Looking forward to seeing other models you’ve collected.
It is a lot better than I expected, and I'm glad for it. Greenlight... Being blunt here. It's usually a hit and miss with them. Some of their cars are great! Others, not so much... I held my breath with this, honestly expecting to be sourly dissapointed. But, to my surprise, and very much my delight, it actually looks dang good! Good luck! And greetings from a fellow collector! XD I've got a lot of old Johnny Lightning, Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars from my childhood. Keeping them. My big collection mostly consists of 1/43 resin and diecast, along with model kits I've built. And I've got a few 1/18 as well. Big issue for me is I love detail and realism. The better it looks, the more likely I am to get it. Still, I have to limit myself. I mostly prefer the old four doors myself. Love the two doors too, but the fours are my favorite. I still need to get some diecasts of that to add to my collection. XD I'd definitely go with a 1/18 of them. More detail to admire. May cost more and make storage a bit more complicated, but for the detail, it's worth it! Thanks! Hoping to get a few more cars GL has coming out, and a few others too. Just have to wait till they finally release, dang it! Love to see the cars you're planning on getting as well!
Oh, I love to have a car like this in real life. But I'd definitely have a 440 under the hood. But yeah, like you, I'd have it mostly stock. I would upgrade a few performance parts though. New carb, intake, exhaust, timing chain and gears, flywheel, alternator. High performance everything! XD
Man, I wish Ertl/Auto World would have done these. The '74/'75 Monacos are really great. Lots of nitpicks from me, similar to yours. It's like they just upscaled the 1/64s problems and all. I will be buying them though because I know we'll never get anything better in 1/18. Thanks for the review.
Me too. If Ertl would do a mold I've no doubt they'd leave the GL ones in the dust. I'm hoping that with these finally on the market in 1/18, Ertl or someone else may do them in better detail if they see how popular they are, and they decide to cash in on that success. Yeah, I have the 1/64 ones, and I agree. When I saw the overall molding it was like they just enlarged it. The same things I don't like about the smaller scales are present on the larger ones. I will say, though, that at least the 1/18 does have side mirrors, and the interior is nicely done. I have seen better detailed interiors on other cars, though. Same reason I bought mine. They're not terrible. I have seen much worse mockups. They're good for what they are, and for being the very first 1/18 late model Fury/Monaco, they're good. Not, "Oh, my gosh, this is amazing!" good, but definitely worth buying. You're welcome. I wanted to put one out as soon as I got the car and I didn't want to hold back on what I thought. I wanted people to know what they were getting. I'm still hoping that someone like Ertl will see the success of these and realize, "Oh, that's a good money making product!" and make their own.
Thanks for the info. I'm more familiar with MARS Federal, but I do know of Signal Stat. Every time I see a twin flat top rotator I always think it's a Federal Visabar. Still learning how to differentiate the two.
True, but Greenlight didn't want to bother with making two molds for two rims. Just like how they didn't want the hood, trunk and rear doors to open. They took the cheap way out. Though I do really like the car. Not perfect, but I do like it. Thank you, I appreciate that.
The quality is the same. Of course, this is a Plymouth, but the molding for both are the same. I made some changes to both this one and the LAPD unit to make them more accurate and realistic.
It's not a bad looking model. If Ertl or Highway 61 would have done it, it would have been a much more detailed and gorgeous model. For what it is, it's definitely worth getting. At least until someone else does a better job. It's honestly not worth a $60 to $80 price tag, though. Being Greenlight, I'm guessing it wasn't a matter that they couldn't and more a matter they didn't focus 100% on quality control. They have a reputation of skimming on details, praising people that blindly follow their models and dismiss people that point out details that could help improve it.
NYPD didn't use the Aerodynic until around 1982. In 1975 NYPD would've used the Signal Stat lightbar as shown on this restored NYPD Pontiac LeMans. NYPD also used the Signal Stat Dual Com enclosed lightbar. 66.media.tumblr.com/41836f6ad29a3606e3fc8152a0f22b26/tumblr_mga3u8vovJ1rqvefao1_1280.jpg
shnorth888 i was going to say the same thing. It’s funny because that Pontiac and the CPD car next to it in your link describe and show the exact differences lol
Oh, yeah, they're still available. I got mine on eBay, and it costs around $65, which is average price. Yeah, I do all of my diecast collecting online. Only Hobby Lobby near me is like, an hour and a half away. And their stock is rather on the outdated side.
Yes, I'm planning on it. When I get them. I just got the Terminator Monaco in so I just need to do a review of it. The Hunter Monaco still isn't out yet, and it seems it won't be put till closer to the first of October. The ASP Fury is out, but I haven't gotten one yet. Two things I can already say about the ASP Fury... 1: Greenlight used metal flake paint which is inaccurate. And 2: The lightbar isn't the Federal Twinsonic like it should be. Instead, GL put a Yankee-Dietz lightbar on it.
Yeah, the NYPD never used tan. I knew the color for it was incorrect when I first saw the images surface back in January. However, I won't deny I do love the tan, personally. Shows up great in the car and does highlight the details better than a darker color. I know some would track down a color similar to what the NYPD used at the time, take the car apart and repaint it. For me, though, I'm leaving it tan. I've just always loved tan interiors for the Fury's and Monaco's.
mrcarlo1966 Ha ha! It's easy to put back together, believe me. Just four screws hold the chassis on. The interior seems to just pop out along with the windshield. I'm wanting to get another Monaco and custom make a CHP cruiser. And when the '77 Fury comes out next year, I'm also wanting to make custom Virginia State Police and Nevada Highway Patrol units. Even though I've never made a custom in my whole life!
Body wise, there's no difference between the Monaco and Fury. But the grille on the fury is straight across, whereas the Monaco has a split grille. The Fury also had the rear bumper guards in the middle of the lights on the bumper, while the Monaco had them on the outer sides of the lenses. I don't think the NYPD ever used the Monaco, only the Fury. It's nice, yeah, but if Highway 61, Autoworld or Ertl had've made it, it would be worth drooling over. But Greenlight did so not drooling over it.

My Favorite Police And Car! 😍😍😍
This is a awesome car. Can't wait for the terminator Monaco. Thanks for your review. :)
nice one. i have a 1/24 dodge coronet that looks very similar to this.
I love it! My dream car is a 75 fury. But all stock obviously but if i could drive a police car i would

Ranger Bravo lol yep! I would put a performance exhaust system with the smallest mufflers possible XD
Man, I wish Ertl/Auto World would have done these. The '74/'75 Monacos are really great.

FYI -- the light bars used by the NYPD were made by Signal Stat
Thanks for the info. I'm more familiar with MARS Federal, but I do know of Signal Stat. Every time I see a twin flat top rotator I always think it's a Federal Visabar. Still learning how to differentiate the two.
@@RangerBravo2014 The MARS "Skybolts" have a higher base than the Federal Signal Twin Ray lights used on the Visibar.
1975 would have had the earlier 4 slotted steel rims.I appreciate your review.

I just ordered the LAPD version of this dodge.

Very nice toy car model dear.
It's a beautiful model. Too bad Greenlight couldn't model the correct Signal Stat rotator lights for the lightbar tho.

The lightbar is wrong. That a mars skybolt Chicago police style bar. NYPD used an Aerodynic from Federal Signal

OMG I LOVE THIS CAR SO MUCH!!! NICE VIDEO! *Sorry I wrote this comment in excitement*
Ha! No worries about the comment. I'm glad you like it! Swing over to eBay to get one, or Diecastmodelwholesale to pick one up.
Do they still sell those and how much. I've been looking everywhere for a new York police car and can't find any

Could you do the smokey and the bandit Arkansas Fury and the terminator Monaco/hunter Monaco please.

1975 NYPD Fury interior would be blue.

Ranger Bravo I’m probably gonna be one of those guys that’s tears it apart when I get it and paint it blue.Just hope I can get it back together again!

i taught it was a dodge monaco.but nice car.
