Im so happy I found this video again. I remember watching this on my wii in 2009 as a kid and absolutely amazed that someone could build an airplane. Im now a commercial pilot.
Same here brother, I remember this is one of the first videos I have watched as a kid. Funny thing is it lead me to where I am right now and now enrolled in a course of being an aircraft mechanic
All you guys saying homebuilt aircraft are death traps: they're not death traps if the builder knows what he's doing. In quite a few cases, homebuilt aircraft will perform just as well as, if not better than, production aircraft of the same class
@@oliversundstrom1806 The difference is that none of those are going 65 mph 200 feet in the air. The danger is that entirely too many of them are built by people who *don't* know what they're doing.
For those in the USA, per FAR part 103, this is not a legal ultralight. Part 103 states it must not exceed 254 lbs. Every option listed on the website is over 254 lbs. Also, the max speed is too high. That being said, it would qualify as a light sport aircraft.
Beautiful built! The usage of Ash (I think, but please correct me if I'm wrong) and the way the structural work inside is done is a work of art. Congratulations!
I enjoyed the video and I think these little planes look like they would be a blast to fly. Thank you for sharing. Fly safe! Cheers! It is a shame so many think make snarky comments about the music is more important than the flying. To the one who didn't make it past the takeoff, because of the music...you missed it.

Cheap, powerful, create tremendos thrust, reliable, and take very little electricity and only 120 volts. Just make sure you launch off a cliff to gain airspeed in a dive and it will fly just fine.
This is a wonderful little plane! If it were really an ultralight I would be flying it right now. I think it exceeds the 254 pound limit and carries more than 5 gallons of fuel. I read somewhere that it cruises about 98 mph? That’s a lot more than they allow for an ultralight. But wow! This thing is gorgeous. I have a perfect place to fly here, and that’s where I’d be most of my spare time!
I have no clue, but I am guessing around 3-5grand if you do everything yourself and modify some stuff... Like using a kawasaki 450 engine from a kx450, that would run around 1-2 grand alone, but tons of power and torque... Ailerons, elevators, rudder, all mechanical linkage so about 200... all the metal another grand... Seat 200-500, and the frame and fiberglass I am guessing around 2,000.... It would be as good as you build it...
