Joseph you have a genéric active preamp, MK 1 are oriental passive pickups. Put american MK and NTMB or XTC, for to upgrade you bass. The better choice from Bartolini.
@@cristianolivares6015 no my friend i check my bass pickups they work with 9v battery. They are active.. pickups have 3 wires. White for + black - , red for + battery. But you are right us barts and preamp are better. 👌🏻
@@ranzio477 hello. i took out pickups from bass.. and as i said earlier, they have 3 terminals, 3 wires, one of which is red and goes to + from the battery because that's the only way magnets work. which means they are active. I know that the cort has mk1 and that they are passive on basses. this is either a factory error or only this bass model has such magnets.
@@josephzaja9210 mk1 are passive pups intended for use with active PREAMPS, that being said, you can also wire a bass with mk1 for no onboard preamp use, making a completely passive bass. That or buy it right from a store, like my Ibanez SR505 (only newer models), in which you can select passive/active mode (preamp). No baterry, preamp completely bypassed, and mk1 fully passive.
I'm planning to do the same upgrade but I'm really confused about the wiring - will there be need for an additional switch for series/parallel/single coil mode? (I have a Cort C5 with a Markbass onboard preamp) Also, I'm a bit worried about MK1 having 2 screw holes, while the MK5 has 3...Should I be worried?
Is it just me or does the Mk5 sound like trash in this demo?? Unexpected, but the Mk1 pickup sounds awesome here. Bass sounds out of tune on that final demo with the Mk5 man
I don't disagree with this. The MK1s don't sound great, but they sound okay in the final demo. The MK5s do sound underwhelming overall. The MK5s are fuller for the lower strings, but not for the higher ones. I have MK1s in my Ibanez SR506 - a Korean model from 2005 - and based on this demo, I probably wouldn't go for the MK5s.
@@BryanSiahaya my friend, Bartolini don't make active pickups, and MK1 and MK2 are oriental and passive pickups, you have a active genéric preamp on board, oriental Curbow bassses don't have american Bartolini,
@cristian olivares I said that because last time I had a 5 string curbow, and the single pick up has a red wire connected to the battery (the pick up has 3 wires: white-hot, red-battery and ground). That is trully different to other bartolini on other Cort series like A, B and artist series (on these series only two wires come from the pick ups). If I can attach the picture here I'll do that😊
I have mk1 active pickups and sound is awesome. If you put them on sweet spot on bass and make good wood combo.. bass will sound like 💰💰💰💰

Its just you. The MK1 is thin and brittle, the Mk5 much fuller and rounder.

Bartolini mk5 muy grabe
can someone help in the demo is it the bridge version of the mk5 or the neck?
If you want to go the same direction just better quality, then MK5P is the way to go. All other MK5s are apples to oranges.
Any recommendations for upgrading Bartolini BH2? I was looking at MK5 maybe.../?
Mk1 are not active pickup!!!!!
Mk-1 was an active pickup, the next generation mk-1 was passive to this day
