- Uber is a phone app that allows you hire a private driver to pick you up & take you to your destination with the tap of a button on your phone - and they'll arrive within minutes. It sounds like, and for the most part IS a very convenient tool... however with anything else that involves interactions with strangers, Uber has its fair share of horror stories. Here are two of those horror stories, allegedly true.

That first story was very weird, I don't know if there was a time I'm which you could pick the uber that would come get you, but that part of the story, plus the fact that he was supposed to insert the address after the guy request the uber and got in... It makes me feel this was written by someone that has never used uber and doesn't know how it works.

I did Uber for a year and one day I picked up man who looked very wried and I took him to a train station about a hour and a half away. On the way we talked a lot and I told him a lot about me. 3 weeks later I had a new career making 75k a year. He was the founder and CEO of a huge company. I been there about a year now and have traveled all over the world did work for a few celebrities. Treat everyone you meet with respect cause you never know who you are talking to and how they can change your life forever.

I've been watching a lot of these horror story videos and a common theme has popped up that really concerns me. It appears that 80% of the time, people don't immediately call the police, if at all. I understand these are traumatic events, but please report right away because the next person may not be so lucky.
My thoughts exactly. It makes me wonder if the stories are real, especially “just want to go home to go to bed” Despite being choked? As a victim of DV, I could understand if you don’t call the cops if it’s someone you know, out of fear etc. but if it’s a stranger??? Why not? And the next person may not be so lucky.

Ah, yes. I remember the days before Uber got really strict about security and safety. It was *so* easy for someone to lie about their car and identity to scam or harm passengers. That’s why you now have to go through so many hoops to become an Uber driver and they insist that passengers verify the plate number before getting in/report drivers who show up in a different car than what is listed.
This is the reason why I only have *ONE* uber

I *always* carry a gun when I drive for uber or ride an uber, cannot be too careful. A few months ago I picked up one guy from a Walmart he had a hammer he said he just bought it because he has to "fix a headboard for his bed" he put it in the trunk, which is good for me because you can't enter the trunk from inside the car, you have to be out of the car. he wanted to go to a bar at 3am *obvious warning sign* he was directing me because he said the building was new and easily missable *obvious warning sign* then 2 min into the ride he was starting to become uneasy about me carrying, I said "how would you know if I'm carrying?" He said "I can see it" (at this point I'm creeped out cuz it's under my shirt in my belt and I have a hoodie on so there's no outline and it's out of his visual range so I assumed he's baiting me into saying if I'm carrying a weapon) I replied "you are correct but you can't see it, im military trained so you have nothing to worry about" he didn't say anything afterwards and he payed at the end, but when he got off the *bar* he was going to was a broke down building and I said "is this the right address?" He said "yeah it is" he started walking into the building, I said "you forgot your tool in the trunk" he said "keep it I don't need it" which was weird cuz he literally just bought it at the Walmart I picked him up at. He went inside the broken rubble building and I left. I threw the hammer away at a fast food place before I went home in case he did something to it.I still drive for uber for extra cash aside of my regular job I searched in the search bar "uber horror stories" just to have a relevant topic to vent my story on lol if you read this far and endured my heartbreaking punctuation errors, cheers🍻

As an Uber driver, and a female, this kind of thing terrifies me. I love the extra money I make and I've never felt uncomfortable or threatened, but that taser I keep in my driver side door pocket isn't there just for shits and giggles.

I had a cab that kept picking up/dropping off other fares for about an hour while we were in town, then wanted to charge me for _everywhere_ she had went!
Well, I feel that. Took a taxi once with a friend from a Hans Zimmer concert back to our hotel. There were lots of people also wanting a Taxi, so we took it as 4.
The taxi driver missed our hotel and drove another 4 minutes or so and actually charged us as we didn't notice he took full price, even the extra 4 minutes. I said thst I will pay less and paid half the price, for my friend and me. Scariest thing were the two ladies in the backseat, not doing anything. I had to tell them to pay him so we could leave. They had an attitude, showing me that they expected me to pay for them.. strangers I had never seen before and never will again. World is a strange place.

Story 3 - The driver from story 1 picks up the passenger from story 2.
If he isn't facing you and he is driving? He can't do alot to hurt you. Just get your shoe string out... Say hey what's that over there then choke him untill he died... Which is very hard to do.

But then the driver wouldn't be able to drive, being too busy trying to loosen your grip on his throat. The car would swerve around uncontrollably before crashing into something. Sure, you'll kill him, but you'll only get yourself and most likely someone else hurt or dead as well.
No... It's human instinct to slam the brakes on.. I've seen it in simulations and have been in many of improvisation of vehicular escape tactics.. If somebody is choking me and I was driving I would slam into a low wall or something non deadly... If I was the attacker when I hit the wall.. I would immediately go for the gun.. Find a way to get the better position... He is most-likely wearing a seatbelt... Remember that.
