My instincts tell me it should be taller too but I always mentally picture Garchomp next to Cynthia from a scene in the anime and it's always around her height. That's how I remember it's as tall as a human.
It was so funny when Michael measured himself in the real world. However, nothing in the video will be as hilarious as Jahn and Michael getting 4 ties at 6'9.

I would love it if someone actually calculated the probability of getting Pokmon of the same height 3 rounds in a row.
No but the problem is, the heights aren’t equally distributed
5’3” is one of the more common heights in Pokémon for example
And you have to take away the Pokémon that they’ve guessed before
And this would be assuming they’re guessing randomly, which they aren’t
So it would be very difficult
averaging their guesses, they're usually around 2-3 feet off of the req height
so that's 2.5 feet above and 2.5 feet below= 5 feet difference ,each with 12 divisions
probability for both guesses being same once is 0.01%
probability of it happening thrice in a row is 0.000005%

@@shinymegagardevoir if you think you need a life in a game I played one of the achievement descriptions literally told anyone who got it to reevaluate their life I got that achievement 5 different times and didn't reevaluate my life for any of them
in a different game, when fighting a boss more enemies spawned in until you did the special boss-beating technique and every enemy defeated gave money I then proceeded to spend for 7 hours clobbering the enemies did I need to grind? nope was I grinding for an achievement? nope did the grinding make the game easier? not really in other words I spent 7 hours doing something for no reason (the worst part any time I replayed that game I couldn't help it I clobbered the hordes for no reason for multiple hours the shortest time I ever spent grinding there was 3 hours and that was with me shrieking in my mind "JUST BEAT THE DANG BOSS AND NOT THE ENDLESS HORDE")

@@thatspinoguy4862 If they were doing it randomly or basing it off of something like a drawing without scale and prior knowledge, but they were choosing specific pokemon based on looking at them in the game and some prior (if flawed) knowledge. So we shouldn't be too surprised. But it is still incredible.
That streak of both of you getting the same height was absolutely incredible. Definitely one of my favourite episodes of the John Michael Cup so far.

I think the Pokémon to be named John Michael is Sawsbuck. When doing these challenges Michael starts in the Summer Form, during the challenge gets a little frustrated, being Fall Form, then get mad, being Winter Form, then if he starts winning, he become a little more happy, being Spring Form. With John he starts in Summer Form, and Stays there. Kind of like some Southern States of North America.

The reason you keep getting EXACTLY 3'11, 7'3", etc. is because Pokémon heights are in increments of 0.1 m -- roughly 3.9" -- which gets rounded in the conversion to inches.
So you get Pokémon every 4 inches Dex height from 0 to 2'4", then every 4 inches from 2'7" to 7'7", and then every 4 inches from 7'10" to 12'10", and so on. So each individual height is about 4 times as common as you'd expect.
I love how mickry keeps catching pokemon that are 3'11 as this is Mickeys actual height

So based off the comments during the video of one of them is 1 inch and the other was 2 inches away from 6' 2'' combined with the bit about it being between their heights we can deduce that The Shiny Man is 6' 3'' and Mr Drowzee Wingull is 6' precisely.

The fact that Avalugg is 6'7" and John would've won is absolutely hilarious.
In case anyone doesn't know, Pokémon heights are measured first in metric then translated to freedom units. That's why all different Pokémon heights are separated by 4 inches, that equates to 10cm, and Pokemon heights are measured in 10cm intervals. Similarly, this is why Celesteela and Cosmoem weigh 2200lb. 2.2lb = 1kg, so they both weigh exactly 1000kg.
They actually weigh 2204.4 lbs, which is 999.9kg, since they didn't want another digit.

The full odds shiny encounters are crazy in this game! I have a theory that in both Legends Arceus and S/V there is at least one shiny on the map at any given time and it's just a matter of whether you happen to come across it. Tested it numerous times in Arceus and found a shiny nearly every time I went out into an area, and I have also found so many FOS playing Violet I can't help but wonder if I'm onto something!
Was looking up the heights as John was deciding between Avalugg and Veluza for the last round. 🤣 I honestly expected the heights of those two mons to be switched, knowing how tall the noble Hisuian Avalugg looks during the encounter.
Hisui Avalugg is actually a fair bit smaller than the usual Avalugg, fun fact. That ginormous Noble Hisui Avalugg just misleads people into thinking Hisui Avalugg are the bigger form.
The funniest part of the whole video is when they both tied multiple times for 6'9.
And then John could have won with a Pokémon at the same height they kept getting ties on. This episode was wild.

In over 300 Pokémon I noticed quite a few that height. Several 4'11"s too. I had a bit over a hundred when I watched this and started noticing the heights.

I guess 3'11" is pretty common because it's a nice and convenient 1.2 m. Also, having the same height is actually more common than you'd think because I believe the sizes are determined in meters only by an accuracy of one decimal, which makes it so that in feet and inches, they are at roughly 4 inch intervals. Additionally, some specific heights seem more common, like 2.0 and 2.2, while almost nothing is 2.1 m.
