  • Bags this size are great for EDC. Rugged & stylish with great history & a cool connection to Indiana Jones. The originals from WWII are becoming very scarce now but there's some very good repro options available from Silverman's and a very nice bag from Disney. YES, i did say Disney, & yes it's very good!! :o)

Another great video on this topic. Thank you! I now have an original MK VI on order (and a nice leather strap) and a repro from Silvermans as well. I just used an el cheapo Amazon copy Indy bag (with a replacement strap as reviewers had recommended) for a two-week overseas holiday trip and was pleasantly supposed at how useful this type of bag can be. I used it to carry mine and my wife's umbrellas as well as other bits of kit that came in handy on more than one occasion. Good stuff!

Thank you for the comments! So great to hear when people appreciate these great bags - such a useful size imho (& the Indy & WWII history makes them much more interesting). I hope you receive a good one when you get your original! 🤞 Is it from Soldier of Fortune? That’s just about the only place that has them now as far as I can see.

@@accoutrements4469 My VI was purchased from eBay (still haven't received -- seems like a reputable dealer but one who travels and ships sporadically) but I got a nice Rebuilt MK VII from Soldier of Fortune with a pretty lousy leather (?) strap. The strap has a very raw edge and just trying it on and adjusting it caused it to "shed" a lot of small bits of material. Ugh. But they did reinforce/repair the stress points on the bag where the strap attaches so I think with a decent replacement leather strap like the one I sourced from Etsy, it will be a nice bag as well. I've definitely gone down the Indy bag rabbit hole. ;-) But there are less useful things to spend our money on, for sure.

Great video. It made me pick up a MK VII on eBay. I'm going to keep all my treasures in it but it probably won't go on any adventures.

That’s so great to hear! 😃 They’re such useful bags! I hope you receive a nice one! They’re plenty durable if you get a decent one - do take it on your own adventures and travels, I say! 😃👍

Very nice! As a point of reference, would the bags used in the "Battle of Britain" be the same type as your originals? Thanks!

Hiya, and thank you for your comments! Yes the Battle of Britain was 1940 so these bags would have been used by the British military during that part of the conflict - the mkVI (6), that is, as the MkVII wasn’t produced until 1942. Such great history to the original bags - can’t believe my mkVIs are around 83 years old and still mostly perfectly sturdy and serviceable! 👌💪
