I feel like my smell is coming from the sump pump bowl itself. Would that be possible? Would this message work if I pour it into my sump pump bowl where the pump is that has standing water?
Water will evaporate from an unused drain and the simplest solution to stop odors is to just pour water back in to fill the trap. I have a drain like that which I fill about once a year. No additives are needed.
You need a p trap any pipe goes to main floors, and a better sewer vent, make sure yer vent, rises over roof top, that would end it, take a plastic tub, poke holes in lid, place sponges in bottom, pour lots viniger, it pulls in stink and kills it, dump some in that floor holes, will kill the bacteria that causes the odour, don't use the coolant buddy suggested its toxic to ground water
Great tips. Our pipes going down do all have traps. I don’t know anything about vents. We do have a lagoon as we are in the country so not sure if any set up is different
I am not a professional plumber or anything similar, I can only share my results as I have done it over the years and it seems to work very well. This is not professional advice
Hello. I thought I mentioned that in the video. So far as oil though it does take much. Few table spoons or so. Or 1/4 cup. The kind of cleaner or Lysol doesn’t really matter. Just something that smells really good for your sake and has cleaner in it like a bit of bleach to kill any germs and kill the smell.
While gas does usually smell like rotten gas, the statement that the rotten smell is gas is not correct as that isn’t always the answer to everything that smells like rotten eggs lol

I’m sorry I honestly do not know about that
Lysol floor cleaner???
I just saw a plumbing video that said putting oil down the drain can potentially cause problems. Maybe I misunderstood them?
Thanks for this simple solution
No problem. Happy it helped someone else. Happy new year

how much water did you use?
Half a gallon maybe, it doesn’t matter how much you use really, since it’s a drain your dumping water into anyway
Would Mr. Clean or Fabuloso work?
Can give it a try
Hot water or cold
Doesn’t matter really. Things usually mix better when warm

hm... i'd use mineral oil if i were going to put oil in a drain... not something organic. so like J&J baby oil.
How much oil did you put and what kind of Lysol did you use?

I just dumped engine coolant in the drain, it really doesn't evaporate at all and protect the cast iron drain from rust 👍
That’s a good tip. Happy it works
Poisoning your water supply. Excellent 🥴
The soap will break down the oil and it will not collect anywhere.
Rotten eggs smell is gas. You’re supposed to call the gas company.
