The scenario was written by those who lived all of that shit through. One of them was German soldier who was trying, I don't know, to repay somehow everything was done. Some of them participated in film as actors. It's really soften version as when first version of scenario was written and they reread it, one of them said if they filmed it as was even they themselves weren't be able to watch it to the end. Soviet censor didn't allow release of th movie for pretty long time. Piece of advice if I may, don't eat before watching.

dude, u should ask those who used to be part of Soviet Union. it is is not only Russia. I am from Kazakhstan and was born in Soviet Union technically. My grands were born before 1930, so they gone through famines, wars and totalitarian regimes. nothing funny there, if u wanna know....nothing funny.

In about 162 days, Nazi Germany captured "heroic Europe."
Then the united Europe attacked the USSR.
The USSR fought the fascist coalition for 1,418 days and won.
In his documents, Hitler planned to take some of the citizens of the USSR into slavery (for work), drive some of them to the east, and destroy as much as possible by industrial means. 27 million Soviet citizens (about 9 million military and 18 million civilians) were killed. Do you think the civilians wanted to defend their country or not?
Most of the civilians participated in the war. Someone works in factories for 16 hours seven days a week. In the blockaded Leningrad, people worked for three pieces of bread a day (the rest were given one, the military - four). Sometimes there was another meal. Hundreds of thousands of civilians fought in the occupied territory, hiding in the forests.
On the Soviet-German front, the main military forces of the fascist coalition were destroyed - a total of 607 divisions.
Anglo-American troops defeated and captured 176 divisions.
