Greetings from Scotland! OK, fun fact - Diana wasn't really "there" when she sang this! She wasn't feeling to good before this performance and she said she decided to allow the song to take over her body and soul! She remembers very little of the performance or afterwards, until she was sat with her fellow contestants again! Look at her facial and body language, especially those incredible eyes! That ain't young, shy Diana! She often allows this incredible phenomenon to happen when she sings very deep emotional songs. She spoke about it in an interview before a concert and on a Q&A session. This can be likened to an actor "Getting into their character" where you "live" the character. Diana is well known for "becoming" the song she sings. She lives the pain and the emotion as if it were her own pain and emotion. You'll see many examples of this as you really get to know Diana. I honestly envy you your special journey of discovery with Diana! Enjoy! Great reaction again Guys!

When you hear what appear to be reedy harmonics, that’s her singing in overtones.

Yes in this show, there were of course backing vocals and reverb but not when she sang "Can't Help Falling In love". She hides nothing in her interviews.
Her polyphonic voice can be heard in other performances

Could you please react too to The Crow ("Ворона") - Диана Анкудинова in "Rock hit" category. Many people think this is Diana's one of the best performance to date. She managed in 3 minutes to make a demonstration (without being ostentatious) of her vocal possibilities and skills.
About this Show:
Diana was currently participating in a very ambitious NTV show "ShowMaskGoon" ("Шоумаскгоон") shot in Mosfilms studios with Virtual Reality sets. The sound was recorded live.
Why "ShowMaskGoon"?: The NTV channel produces 3 other singing competition shows (You are Super ", The Mask" and "SuperStar") the winners of these three shows participate in "ShowMaskGoon which is a kind of superfinal which premiered this year (" Mask "because of the second one)
The principle was as follows: there was 9 permanent participants who are both judges and competitors. Everyone had to perform in 9 predefined styles or categories, changing each time in each of the 9 parts of the show. It was very interesting because the candidates had to get out of their usual repertoire. To the 9 judges / candidates is added a different guest each week who also votes, because the artist who is on stage does not vote. They all have points from 2 to 9 to be distributed according to their assessment of the performance.
The 9 categories were:
"Song from a movie or cartoon"
"Rock hit"
"New music"
"Song of the late twentieth century"
"People are moved" (moving song)
"Soviet song"
"Pop hit"
"Grammy"
"Song of your choice"

About Diana
I wrote this presentation to help new the reactors:
Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana is an unique contralto (dramatic contralto) her comfort range is C3-C6 but in constant evolution. Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from lyric chant....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is multitonal (polyphonic) voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result.
This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya (th-cam.com/users/OlegSemyonov73videos), the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6!
She has become famous in the broadcast "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old.
In her shows, Diana participates in the direction, direction and arrangements of her performances. She is a complete artist.
In addition, until the recent past her costumes were often designed and sewn by her mother and grandmother since she was 5.

This is also from the new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. He's very impressed.

In this series they had a genre show s for them each week except one week they got to choose their own and this was her choice. So that's pretty cool, great job guys.
If you want to be blown away Rechenka is the one to do it. She does sing it in her native tounge but that simply doesn't matter. Even if you don't turn on closed captioning it will still give you goose bumps. I believe it's better to just take it in without cc so your not distracted. If anything look up and read the lyrics pryor to doing you reaction.
Rechenka was my first introduction to her and It's my favorite from her overall.

Thanks for your reaction. It's always nice to see you guys really appreciating the music. Anyone who says Diana doesn't use backing tracks probably doesn't know what a backing track is. They may be confusing it with lip synching. She uses backing tracks all the time since she doesn't have a band. Over the years, numerous reactors have wondered how she created an unusual effect with her voice because they wouldn't acknowledge the background vocals in the backing track. There is no shame in working with backing tracks; it allows artists to perform on much lower budgets.

@@Сергейнемид Hello. Diana's singing is great as always. The audio quality is not that good. After a short initial phase, she manages to really get into the melody and convey the feeling of the song. Great, of course, Diana's "piano vocalizations". That's one of her greatest strengths anyway, IMO. And that all in an acapella performance of a song in a language she doesn't speak or understand at all. This is of course excellent.
Now to her pronunciation in German: criticism is appropriate. I have to say that some parts are quite understandable, but a few words and even whole lines are completely incomprehensible to me.
Also, the tempo of the song sometimes makes it very difficult to fit an entire line of lyrics into the very short time available. This is also to be considered as an explanation and "kind of apology".
Of course, squeezing these words in is particularly challenging, especially for a non-native speaker.
Would I like to hear a full piano version of this beautiful and meaningful song by Diana? Absolutely!.
I think the song suits her very well. But for that she should really improve her pronunciation. Because this is not just an accent, but in my opinion (smaller) parts of really bad and incomprehensible pronunciation.
On the other hand, it's great that Diana can also sing in other languages that she doesn't understand at all. And she dares. She is fearless. I am convinced that with more preparation Diana would be able to get an acceptable German pronunciation.
And last but not least: In order to really become an international star, Diana would have to at least improve her English language skills significantly for the whole Anglo-Saxon world. In my opinion, Diana has at least improved her English pronunciation a bit. So that means she needs to focus more on that as well. Which takes time and effort.
And in addition to her career as an artist, she is still in training and studying.
But Diana is also very young and can have a very long career. So I think Diana doesn't need to rush into anything, but should take one step at a time without haste.
Diana's potential is so extraordinarily great. And that's why I believe that, unless something completely extraordinary happens, nothing can stop her from becoming a world star and staying that way for a long time to come.

How do we say that Diana is doing "this", while three things are being heard? Nobody can know what we're talking about.
I have good equipment, but I still have to replay a segment several times in order to separate them into their component parts. If you listen to "Can't Help Falling in Love" enough times, her own resonances can be separated from the backing vocals. There is also a cello(or a synthesized cello) playing on the track. It blends, almost perfectly, with Diana's voice. This adds to the difficulty of defining the sounds that she is really making.

Diana is polyphonic and sings overtones , so if you are hearing extra tones etc. that is usually all Diana .

You should always be aware that the "ShowMustGoOn" performances often used backing tracks with pre-recorded vocals.
Sometimes by Diana and sometimes by other singers.
Diana explained this herself in a Q&A, for example in the song "Crow" a male guy sings these short low notes.
Diana is really great. But even she can't do anything impossible with her voice at a live performance.
That doesn't take Diana's greatness and class at all.

Diana herself answers a question about the backing vocals. For example, she says that the low notes in the song "Crow" were sung by "Vlad", a male backing singer.
And depending on the song, in preparation for each performance, they checked which voice would fit best.
This means that not everything that we hear in terms of singing is really sung live by Diana and not always sung by Diana herself, but by other singers (male and/or female) singers in the background. They then use prepared backing tracks for this. I think that's quite normal.
