  • EDIT : I'm reposting this video, as the first version had many issues (due to exporting and uploading). I hope this won't be the case anymore. thank you for letting me know :)
    Today I would like to share with you my online buying experience to avoid you to get scammed when you buy fragrances.
    I'll give you my golden rules to limit the risks and share my tips and examples to recognize fake fragrances more easily.
    Keep in mind that risk zero doesn't exist unless you only buy via official websites and official resellers !

    Thank you for the video and showing this! 👌🏻🙏🏻 Due diligence is so important when buying! I just had a pretty bitter experience myself with a XerJoff fragrance. Will probably also do a video on it.

    Very good suggestions! Thank you. I did receive a fake perfume before. It looks very very similar to the original bottle and packaging. I dare say that these people who sold it, they got the original bottle and packaging from the factory. The difference were only on the cap and the juice. It smells like the original version only on the first Spritz, and then it turns sour and you can't smell anything after 1 minute.

    • @OlfactiveStories
      @OlfactiveStories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, sometimes I'm wondering if they don't have a deal with the factories to get the real bottles...
      For the packaging, unfortunately the imitation is getting better and better.

      I have purchased so many fakes on eBay. You would think I would learn and stop. Currently have a fragrance ready to ship back to seller for my refund.

    I bought a fake fragrance from eBay was a decant 15m, a Jo Malone scent, lime basil and mandarin and when it arrived it smelt like cat pee 😤 I told the seller I wasn’t happy and it didn’t smell like the authentic version and they refunded me straight via PayPal no questions asked. There are so many brand new MFK fragrances on eBay for a low price which is clearly too good to be true. Thanks for these tips 😊

      @avgrim77 The problem is that apparently on eBay you don't always know that it will be sent from Russia until you buy the product. I'm sure my Byredo and Memo bottles were some fakes from Russia and they were sold by local resellers (and not cheap 😑) It has also happened that some shops were selling fakes without knowing it. It is a crazy underground market and anyone could be in this situation one day. Even Sebastian got scammed lately. The more people are informed about this, the less they'll be scammed (or I hope so ^^)

  • @thuhangtbb

    You should compare more details, specifically the lid, inside, outside, the spray head, the bottom of the bottle, not just the fragrance. Because the buyers do not usually have the auth one beside the fake

    • @OlfactiveStories
      @OlfactiveStories  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I talk about the cap and the sprayer at 10:00
      Each part of the packaging is good to check. Even if you don't have the authentic one to compare it to, you may have another authentic fragrance from the same brand that you can compare to the one you want to check. You can also check online, look for pictures on the brand website or exchange with other fragrance lovers :)

    Also most fake perfumes come in the largest bottle in the line. You hardly ever find 1 fl oz fake if that perfume comes in the 3.4 fl oz

Also, on the bottom of the bottle, I noticed some Byredo’s labels says SE10361 & on other bottles it says SE-10361 so which does it say on the authentic?? Please reply

      @@Angela-wv4yw I've just checked my authentic bottle of Rose of no man's land. Inside the cap there is also Byredo on top and Made in France on the bottom. The bottom of the bottle says :
      Byredo

      SE10361 Stockholm
      Byredo.com
      BYREDO

    I want to purchase Byredo lil fleur on Ebay. It is by a Russian seller with 100% feedback. I am wondering if it will be real since Byredo came out with this scent sometime around June. What do you think? Would they have had time to even come out with a fake one? Please let me know

      I agree, when shopping for second hand. Try to find a seller in the US, sometimes without the box, with very little to no like items in their eBay store. I always reach out to the seller and ask them to give a short story about how they acquired the fragrance and why they've decided to let it go.

    Hi. I am gifting my boyfriend a Cacharel Pour L'Homme, his favorite cologne in the 80s-90s. How do I spot a fake Cacahrel. I am ordering from fragrance.com

    • @OlfactiveStories

      I'm not an expert for Cacharel but Fragrancenet and FragranceX seem to sell real fragrances. 😉
      Otherwise you can still try to compare with a real bottle, in a shop for example looking for the details I talked about. The bottle, the cap, the quality of the print, the text on the bottle ...

    All these small details on the box are not that important. I want to know if you're happy with the fragrance and what is the major difference here. They also reformulate so the box and fragrance itself can differ a bit
