I have profoundly thought about many of these ideas in one form or other since I was a child. "WHY" my friend yelled to me one time 40 years ago , " You always want to know why? , that's not normal " . Around the same time my father said "Son, those thoughts and questions are dangerous ". Now at 65 my lovely and very traditional thinking sister said " What I love about you is that you continue to be fearlessly like Don Quixote. Trying to defeat injustice but with understanding . by observing this amazing world as it is that I live in. This documentary is a reflection of many thoughts I have had, but this doc does so in very clear language and concepts. A story that needs a wide and healthy run. WELL done ya'll!
Thank you for making this available on TH-cam. No judgements, no finger pointing ... just common sense and how it belongs to all of us to find the solution(s) to the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
And yet one could point fingers. Just the last days an investigativ documantary has shown that 10% of the population here in germany, people with income of 700k € or higher, are responsible for 50% of Co2 emissions on an individual level. Majorly due to them using private jets. They interviewed a bunch of these private jet users and it was abhorent how these people don't know, don't want to know or are knowing but don't care of their contribution to the problem of CO2 aslong they can do whatever the fuck they want.
The indigenous people of the America's have not forgotten wisdom of the elders. This is a teaching of balance and respect. When you open up to this knowledge. This when you start to learn what it means to be a human being. Medicine for one and all. Ah-ho.
The indigenous population was so limited that even though they project they are more sensitive to nature, they were mostly a society that used the resources until depletion was evident and moved on to the next site. Nature was able to recover, now with so many more people demanding higher life style and being unwilling to change. Selfishness and greed destroy the beauty and fragility.
@@potita24 Your statement is the problem. We need to believe we can get it done. All People living on this planet need to share our ideas to SAVE it. We Together can do it!!

And you can propose it with good educational guidance on how to watch it, perhaps proposing other documentaries for comparison. Do not you think?
Terrific quote at the end. Love is the fundamental principle of all creation. And the opposite of love is ... not what many people think. In truth, the opposite of love is fear. Take fear out of your heart and you will find love.

Stupidest people out there . They paid to get indoctrinated with bs science and now their the experts . History is nothing more than an agreed upon set of lies.
LOVE the very last quote. One of the most balanced and relatable docs. No finger pointing needed. We are part of the systems around us as a human super organism, conditioned to the illusions we have built. Now it's time to shift our power of now to become aware of our how we are part of nature. The answer lies in the "unconditioned" space inside each of us. Tap that blocked energy and all you find is love.
This video needs to go viral!!! It really wakes you up to realize how fragile our planet and we are!! Well done documentary, you had my attention at every minute!!! My hats off to you Mr. Bridges and your Team!!
Earth is not fragile. It’s humans that are fragile. The Earth was here before us and will be here when we die. It’s a distraction. But some will just never learn.
M.B. , I understand what you mean. But - - we must take care of Mother Earth. That is what Jackie was pointing out. She ( Mother Earth) will help us, if we help her. Love !

At the end, and beginning of the day… money is the problem. That’s what it ALL boils down to. We ALL know/knew for decades that something we each do is helping destroy the planet and make the future for next generations difficult but, we gotta make money to survive in 2022. Poverty is the most effective way of killing anybody.
Spot on... are we doomed? I think so. As a farmer and engineer, I just live too close to nature to see 8 billion people row in the same direction... this ship of money first can't be turned and we won't admit it.
You could not be more on point and it's tragic, simply and point blank end of story heartbreakingly tragic💔💔😭😭. I can't understand nor will I ever be able to understand HOW the most intelligent species on this planet made and continues to make the most UNIntelligent, foolish, selfish and completely thoughtless decisions regarding our own survival and preservation of our miraculous planet. I do all I can to love and care for our home and I despise money. I truly do. Our species has ALWAYS had as much ability to create rather than destroy yet it's ALWAYS been more destruction. Awful to say but, it has.💔😭
20+ years ago, I began to share my life with others. I eased into loving life & i stopped earning money. I began to focus on what i wanted & why. I listened to bob marley say, Emancipate (Free) yourself from mental slavery. For me, Money was mental slavery. So i began to create fun, simple games for my mind, To change the chip in my mind that said i need money to support life. 20 years later, i continue to live without money, Without povery. Without struggle. Im a happy person Ive been having fun & rewarding life since. I have all that i need & desire. My standards are high. The mind Is a powerful tool I enjoy using. If we have been taugh to succeed with money, We can equally be taught to succeed without money. Have fun. I find it fun to remember, The animals never invented money
This is the first presentation about climate change that has NOT made me feel powerless. People with good hearts are locked into unproductive behaviours because their primitive psychological need for 'more' hasn't been tempered by long term goals for their children, grandchildren and the planet at large. I'm sure I'll watch this more than once, and think about it, journal about it and finally act on it. What a gift to be able to find a way forward that leads with the heart. Thank you so much.
Thank you Jeff and all who spoke in this documentary! Using your gifts to contribute to this human and earth connection! I am hoping, I too can find a place to contribute!!!
With no offence intended. Perhaps within our personally families and the extended outwards with the compassion in your words. It touched all of us but what we do with it is even more powerful.
Our disconnectedness will be our undoing. The earth is shifting and evolving at a rapid rate and if we don't connect with it, we will never have the opportunity to experience such beauty again.
This was so wonderful guys🌎❤️ I have been studying fungi in my local forests for around 5 years now…intensely…This is what truly opened my eyes to just how connected everything is..it is incredibly fascinating ..I just love life..I pray for our species and all others..Why can’t we stop destroying things😔🌎❤️
Every human we add to the planet needs and wants more for itself than they care for the life of the "others" we consume. If we eat meat, we cause the death of the animals; if we eat plants, we cause the death of the plants; if we drink liquids, we are stealing the water wild plants and animals need to survive. We humans are each willing to value our self over the other people, animals & plants we are displacing.
Because under capitalism, every natural resource has a monetary value, and the more rare and exotic or endangered the resource, the higher the value. Laws aimed at protecting any particular natural resource only increase its value on the black market. I don’t see any way out of this without dismantling capitalism entirely.
@@jennodine I agree, and I also believe the problem is the lack of enforcing laws that do protect our natural resources and the demise of free enterprise. The guy who invents something good is put out of business by the big shots. Big fish eating little fish thus forming a monopoly with fixed higher prices and no competition. We were screwed when they ceased the anti-trust lawsuits and let big oil drill in our national parks which are owned by the American people.
As long as there are those who desire more, we will destroy our planet and ourselves. Survival of the fittest. It's not physical power that makes one fit now. It's money. With money comes power. Love is the single thing that will save us. Love for ourselves, for our fellow humans, and for our home, planet earth. God bless.
We are in an era of unprecedented material and financial greed, wherein those that control what his hurting our Planet and Humanity, are putting their financial prosperity... today... now... before what is in the best interest of us all as a species, long term. This documentary touches on that topic. Not everyone needs a Bentley. But we all need fresh air, clean water, and sustainable lives for ourselves today, and our posterity, tomorrow.
I tried surviving the winter and summer of 2021-22 without the use of air-conditioning or heaters. It was tough at first, couldn't sleep in mid-summer, and if I stopped moving in winter, my feet would start freezing no matter how many pairs of socks I wore with my wool lined shoes. Learned a few tricks and it got easier. I'm waking up my dna knowledge of seasonal adaptations. It's very interesting how food cravings and water retention shift around to match. And I feel stronger. Plus I can eat more in the winter without gaining weight. It's not much, but it's something. But now I wonder if the energy cost might be the same?
@@besreal3419 I depends on caloric burn. I expend alot of calories to thermal regulate in the winter as I don't use heaters at all. And sugars from carbs are an easy burn. But the coldest it reached in Japan last year was only -5 celcius. Probably why Eskimos eat seal fat, gets -30 in those lands. During the summer, I cut down on carbs to around 20% of my diet. And go vegan for the change from spring to summer to switch digestive biome to summer mode.
I've done without air conditioning for decades, (living in Florida.) I really can't stand AC. But, I need help staying warm. I am not friends with the cold. I'm pretty thin, and I do not like eating a lot.
I am 58 years old, and I finally got my first decent cold-weather footwear! Snow boots, and the key is a lot of trapped air. A lot of tight layers does not help. In fact, the more socks I have on my feet, the colder they are. I wear my snow boots with otherwise bare feet! So comfortable!
I see the effects of the poverty I live in clearly in this video. I am not primarily motivated by money, but by real meaning, by truth. And so it’s sad to see the “Me shaped hole in the world” in the ideas of this video which are only a partial description of our most serious problems. It’s because I have tried for decades to be heard, and I will never give up on humanity, or on life, because I dearly love it. That’s why I am poor. Because the way I think in wholes across time and space can neither be monetized or easily understood. So I am a symbol of the problem. I don’t exist to a world looking for anything but truth, in the larger holistic sense. They look for monetization, usefulness now, fame, etc. these things are just local motivational structures but the overall picture is very different. That’s where I am supposed to come in, but I cannot get a job despite being extremely high in IQ and obsessive about accuracy and truth. Because I will never stop at the avenues to destinations that are not in my higher GPS, so to speak. I actually know what and why the problems are and how to solve them. This video is a start, but they don’t understand the whole picture. It’s bigger than organisms. I wrote a book 20 years ago about the meta-cognitive aspects of life and human civilization that contains the seed of the solutions and I spend every day writing articles and sending grant proposals or finishing my next book about all these things but humanity did not make a spot for me. Not currently. Granted, I am an anomaly, but the problems that are arising and human consumption are the way they are for specific very important reasons. Obviously it is not sustainable. It’s a crossing of a bridge to the future where things WILL be sustainable. It’s a war against chaos which has been all-out. We think we are consuming or gaining wealth, but these things also have a higher meaning which actually is what enables them at all, the same higher pattern which gave us language. It has been sending messages across time and space for eons. In the form of these patterns. Our short lives and self-centered perspectives has made us blind to it, it’s a matter of time-vision. Hardly anyone has it. Thanks for this video. I will keep trying. Sometimes the smallest thing can change the world forever. I intend to keep trying to be that butterfly which changes all of history for the better. Despite being homeless and ignored because people cannot understand me, and I understand them all too well. Thank you for reading this if you did. Please read some of my recent comments or like or subscribe if you see anything in them. I need help, and I am asking for a favor from you for one thing, to make life better. I am not asking money. But a place in the world. A voice for the message and meaning that I see and the world could benefit from. Thank you for being you. I love you because you are my hero. Every person in every mundane job is a warrior but they don’t even know or understand. I do. And I thank you with complete sincerity because we ARE truly one. And we ARE all in this together. And as long as we know this, no darkness can ever extinguish our light from the universe. ❤️🔥🙏🏻♾
That absolutely smashed me, especially the end. I've often dwelt on the universal balance that is fostered by innumerable inhabitants and made decisions that not only benefit my life but that of all. I particularly enjoyed the passage about energy, it made me think of all the cars that drove past me as I walked to work, how much energy they must have borrowed and how it was to be given back. At my work my boss wants me to operate machinery to do a job slightly faster, I said I'd prefer to do it by hand because it would save the power for when it was really needed, he said time costs more, and power was always available. I try not to be bigoted towards those who see or understand things differently but I have to admit, when I see those cars driving by I do wonder, how many species have we killed because we borrow energy, how many Amazon dwelling natives have been slaughtered for man's desire to fit in, make money or even eat a burger. I think humans will live on, in far smaller numbers, and in generations to come they will know the great folly we created for ourselves, and I like to think they won't make the same mistake.
There's a saying, history repeats itself. Lets hope, and maybe pray we can change that. Another saying is that those who win the battle or war, writes the history. We are now in a battle, a war. If we don't get this right, we're finished. Those with the money have the power. Those with the power win the battles and the wars. It doesn't have to be that way. There's more of us than them. We just need to change our way of thinking. We don't need all they're selling. When we stop buying there merchandise, they lose their power. When we realize we don't need every new thing they come up with, they lose their power. When we realize what we need is love, rather than their shiny new toys, they lose their power.
@@danielhanawalt4998 I've heard someone knowledgeable say that moderation kills. I think humanity has convinced itself that it'll be fine if caution and restraint is exercised. It won't be ok, we're already in major borrowed time and we need to start sealing holes before the ship sinks. All our lives we've been shown how things must be and if anything it's a total opposite, we're not consumers, we're product, plain and simple. To challenge that means taking on governments whose only concern is growth and strength, they're puppets to a system created by corporation's and the only role they have is to keep us healthy so we can work out fingers to the bone so those obsessed with greed and status can feel a grotesque sense of achievement. They won't know what hit them.
Thankyou for being ethical... however the point is that the creature that thinks of the next 5 minutes gets ahead more often than the one that thinks of the future. In the long run greed wins out and this path was inevitable. I just hope a few long term thinkers and ethical individuals survive our changing world.
@@shannonsexton8921 "In the long run greed wins out" Erm... Not quite. We ARE "in the long run" now and we can clearly see that greed destroys more (namely a whole living planet with everything on it) than it wins out (a bunch of self-invented "value-papers"). "this path was inevitable": there you go. A child has to experience that the toy breaks, the beetle dies, when he is not careful enough - in order to learn how to fully care.
I am a Caucasian American. But my culture from an early age has been the highest wisdom and Spirituality of India; and then China and Japan. Those incredible ancestors have given my life an unspeakable treasure. They have lifted me beyond a human animal, to a being who recognizes the highest intelligence of the universe and existence. Consciousness and awareness enlightened to itself! The nonduality of material existence and spiritual awareness. No self/other, but one life energy capable of harmony. Feet planted firmly on the earth, rooted in being; and consciousness expanding to the ends of space. Flying freely, liberated. 🕉 That is my inherited culture. So excited and in love from this documentary! Thank you GOOD SCIENTISTS for all your healing care, good intended curiosity, and open-minded exploration! I love how Jeff Bridges encourages everyone at the end to do what is natural to them and inspires good change. As a natural born writer and healer, I feel the big connections and synchronicities.
Being self responsible for what we think, feel, and do is key to everything. Remembering who we truly are and that we are connected as one with the entire universe. We have the power within ourselves to raise our vibrations and make the changes for the health of Planet Earth. The things that are destroying this planet will eventually dissolve as we develop our consciousness as a collective. Earth is moving towards a higher consciousness, so it's up to us to raise ours with her. It's time to let free energy technology be the power for all.
Bravo! Thank you for this documentary. Human kind will discover fire again! The fire of love and shared energy! The fire to live in harmony with nature and our planet , Mother Earth!
Thank-you to jeff Bridges, and everyone else who made this documentary. I especially appreciate the message it left off on, to ask ourselves, what are we willing to do, that is sustainable for ourselves, ro contribute to how we want the future to be, and the implication that love is the energy, the fuel, that we need to tap into, to invest in our desires for a positive outcome for future generations of life itself on this amazing planet we all share.
We need to limit human reproduction. But that is a third rail. I asked an expert about it - he said it’s impossible. People want to make their own decisions about having children (witness the problems created by China’s one-child policy.) Human beings’ drives and desires are in direct conflict with preserving Earth’s environment. So I see this as a monumental tragedy, an unstoppable process. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do every possible to try to delay or stop it.
@@birbluv9595 i agree with everything you've said. Thank you for your thoughtful reply to my message, and also for the thoughtfulness I'm sure you bring to living this life.
As long as that desire is not centered around making more electrical vehicles, which actually are running on fossil fuel, and even more so than the gasoline ones.... then yes, we all need to think about how we could contribute to Earth's future well being.... some ideas..... let's all be vegetarian ..... let's build public transportation systems and stop glorifying the individual cars... let's stop putting water in bottles (yes, that is a very destructive habit!) and let's stop poisoning our drinking water with chlorine and fluorides and other very toxic chemicals (there are better ways to make clean water!)... those are just a few but very efficient ways to bring about a better life for our planet... believe it or not! I can hear all the objections from the lobbyists of those industries who all make big profits off of the meat industry, the water chemical industry, the car manufacturers, and so on.... change is hard to come by! Greed reigns supreme! Poor earth... it will survive even if we don't ... and maybe that's the best solution for all, to save this planet. Except that we won't be needing it anymore!
@@velvetpaws999 I hear you, rhe situation is dire with greed ruling the species. We can't fix the system, and yes, the planet will survive. All is not lost yet though so hang in there and let's do what we can to make this life and those whose lives we touch, a little sweeter and kinder, or as someone very wise said, grow our circle of compassion.
Extremely well done. Walked really a fine line between philosophy, religion, and science. Hopefully those who see this will start thinking in the direction how everything is interconnected, and in a sense one.....
Yes, it's an idea that was planted in my head when I was 13 and read Bradbury's Martian Chronicles. He described the Martians as having their science and religion wrapped up inextricably, one complimenting the other. I always hoped for that with humanity.
@@jamespardue3055 Thank you again James Pardue. I typed out such a beautiful and inspiring reply to you only to lose it before hitting the reply button!!!! I may not be able to reconstruct the whole thing again!!!! I wanted to tell you that yesterday night I was reading a page from "Jaina Sutras by Hermann Georg Jacobi" and I want to share that sentence with you. "the animistic belief that nearly everything is possessed of a soul." "animistic belief" is the author's condescending bias. Soul, I translate or assume, it means Life. Hermann was a German. He translated this into English (!) from original Pali and Sanskrit. My own personal perception is that SPACE is ALIVE and everything and all Life "crystalized" out of it and will disappear into it. Also, before we destroy Earth, It will destroy us if we continuously behave like a virus on its body. Once again, thank you so much for weaving together beautiful ideas into an art of moving-making. Very effective, very educational, very beautiful. Thank you again! This time, I will not look for an emoji of folded hands (namaste). That's how I lost the first draft!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
So beautiful and thought provoking. Thank you. We have to face what is happening to our world, but in a way that we do not become demoralized. This documentary tells us the danger of our reactive subconscious. There are meditation traditions to help address this ignorance. For some this may be the gift, the way of making a difference, that Jeff talks about.
This is a masterwork in the field, gripping, lucid and compelling. As a knowledgeable layperson, I'm grateful for the powerful, fresh perspectives and ultimately hopeful messaging. Bridges' narration is convincing in its obvious sincerity, without being patronizing or sensationalistic. The talking heads are uniformly top-notch. I really can't say enough good things. Everyone should see this, and I'll be watching again soon. It might even persuade me that it isn't already too late for H. sapiens and our handiwork.

"Living in the Future's Past" took me on a captivating journey of introspection. Jeff Bridges' insights and the stunning visuals challenged my perspective on our collective future. Thanks for this thought-provoking exploration of humanity's path ahead.
What an extraordinary presentation and "story" of "us" and providing a new perspective on our old brains and the many disparate but intertwined issues we might pause to contemplate. The call to action, each in our own best way, at the end was very inspiring.
Thank you Jeff for producing this film❤Mankind needs to shift from materialism and separation to inclusiveness and love. To everybody interested in the future of mankind: have a look on the Conscious Planet Initiative and the Save Soil movement, our planet is wonderful in all of its aspects and we want to protect it and all species included mankind living on it.
Highly profound and certainly unexpected from Jeff. I'm hopeful that there will be a part 2! NAMASTE We can excell as soon as all of us realize that there is only ONE race on the planet and we are all on the same space ship like it or not.
If the whole world, especially realizing just how small we truly are in this wonderful universe, cannot realize that the earth is crying out in exhaustion, from getting pounded and impacted literally 24/7:365 since man started runnin' the show around here, I honestly don't know how the hell we can't realize we are one weather we like it or not. Maybe the earth will simply stop spinning for us, as half the world would be plunged forever into darkness never to see the modern workday again....if we don't act as one here, real quick, it will be too late. I remember when they had documentaries like this on regular tv. And we had shows about animals and how to treat them....does anyone remember those? I'm exhausted. Best of luck to all on their own unique, yet collective journey...one for all and all for one!!❤❤❤

I once lived in Santa Barbara. I volunteered to work at one of the historic Victorian houses that this lady had bought and was holding Angel seminars in. The bathrooms were huge with chairs so people could sit and chat with whoever was taking the bath. Off the bathroom would be a balcony and I was told that was the sleeping balcony for summer when it was so hot. WELL I live in Texas now in a brand new house and it's one story and there's definitely no sleeping balcony and there's no balcony at all because it's one story! IT got so hot this last summer and I was sweating so much and my sheets were so soaked that I broke out of course in little bumps on my skin. SO I went outside on what was the patio which is enclosed on three sides by the house and it was perfect ☺️ The weather was perfect and I'm still trying to figure out how I can sleep out there come next summer and feel safe enough because although of course the fence is locked, anyone could jump over, though people don't tend to at this point anyway. I just think we need to design houses with sleeping balconies or with inner courtyards. One lady I met in Florida said her husband bought her a house that had an inner courtyard with a swim pool even although she hated to swim! SHE was Cuban and she just didn't understand how lucky she was to have found this American guy to give her that but so it goes. I think she was from the wealthy classes and maybe part of the first onslaught of Florida by Cubans who actually wore accustomed to a lot and not impressed by much. BE that as it may, a house like that would be fantastic because you'd feel safer when sleeping.

Just a beautiful documentary. But I will be honest I am exhausted by what I see as inevitable. I want to help make a real change but as a single cell in the full body of humanity it seems so hopeless. All I can do are my little bits and how I vote. God save our planet and us from ourselves.

Great documentary. At times, they do jump rapidly from one complex psychological or anthropological idea to the next idea, sometimes quicker than my mind can process. Somewhat dizzyingly.
The only thing, i am going to say is that man can never change, mother nature one way or the other, man is himself part of nature, and he don`t have to do nothing to change it, whats going to happens, happens anyway. Just compare yourself to this vast and infinite Universe, and you will see how small and insignificant we are to alter anything, we are part of the Cosmo that's all.
Change is how life evolves. It is how you learn, and grow. And humans have culture beyond nature to evolve. But humans are responsible, if it is immoral and destructive
Very well done. Only complaint is the lack of any concrete solutions to the Petro-conomy i.e. Zero Point Energy which is a scientifically valid, proven and sustainable alternative to oil that would completely remake how all of us live, work, commute, eat, etc... And as this documentary focuses on, what would we then turn our attion to so we can fulfill our inner wants, needs and desires... It all starts at home though as Jeff Bridges asks at the end: What can I do, sustainably, in my lifetime to be a part of the solution in saving the planet and not being a blind participant in needless consumerism and planned product obsolescence? Very, very challenging, I just know I can do more...
I don't think it starts at home at all. That's how they've justified policy inaction for decades. Cfc lightbulbs and heat pumps. To depend on the home we must require global behavioral change. That will never happen. Policy makers cooked paradise with endless inaction, paid by those who benefit the most.
Unfortunately, you can’t pump love into a car’s gas tank. You however may pump it lovingly, maintain the car so it runs efficiently. Our lives are too intertwined with the use of fossil fuels.
Population explosion , I STILL am dumbfounded by the fact that THIS one aspect of the problem is very rarely addressed because the corporate world is addicted to so called growth at any cost .
I case you've been "asleep" for a few years, Dr. Fauci & BIG Pharma have been working overtime to counteract that problem of overpopulation! People are dropping dead on the soccer ⚽️ fields and right in front of news cameras!
I am impressed. The topic is serious but presented without partisan finger-pointing. Clearly there is a future - we just need to create a pleasant one - a future which will be seen one day as a huge leap forward in the evolution of humankind!
I really appreciate this documentary, so well assembled ! Some ironies tho watching certain speakers, clearly in their opulent homes, filled with trappings that serve only to satisfy their desires to be seen as superior or tasteful.. when the subject of the documentary undermines all this.. still really well presented.
Money.. The water I drink, the food I eat, the clothes I wear, the house I live in, the energy I use to warm it, the devise I type this on.. It all costs money and resources. I don't feel greedy or envyous, nor do I have a lust for power or so, and I don't want to be a hypocrit about it, I am a part of the problem. So I just strive to be a part of the solution too. Buying only what I realy need made me feel richer anyway. Great vid! Stuff to think about. Greets from the Netherlands ✌, T.

The title is correct. And what we have been living for some 2000 odd years is what has shaped all that was presented here … The Roman Empire has been the rule under which we have been living, some historical events have taken place and we have altered our way of doing work but we are fundamentally still in this Empirical way of life. Now as we move into the Age of Aquarius we are seeing a shift away from the Empire… and this is as it should be. Collectively we as humans on the Earth are once again in communication with one another , for some time communication was controlled by the church and the empire, now with the internet we are free from these bonds…. The attack on how we have organized ourselves is in the final stage and now we face the reality that we must regroup and how we do this is our task as a society … It is not the mirage that has been presented in this documentary,, so don’t be fooled into believing that we humans are what has been presented …. We are the vessels of love brought to life by the energy of God, we are not made in the image of God. Through the heart love is born into the universe and that is what must be protected. Love is the most powerful and important energy to sustain life on Earth. The Empire has for too long taken us down the path of destruction , and we have been the worker bees of this entity. The platform for the change is LOVE… or as some like to say God. For there is no difference.
I don’t know if you in the comments section know this but the emotions and the thoughts that drive us to take this perspective in our nature actually has driven us to this advanced technological advancement.
4:44 Emotions are not counter-productive to society....the ways we acknowledge or avoid them can be counter-productive. Emotions are messengers and we can use them to better understand ourselves and each other, and direct ourselves towards peace and contentment. I think the real problem is that people lack emotional intelligence and are too lazy to do anything about it....and there are new companies every year looking to profit from humanity's lazy nature. So yeah, laziness is the only real problem with humans.
Part of your comment reminds me of a “parable” about the “two wolves inside each of us”…. The “good” wolf, versus the “bad” wolf…. And the question, “which one wins out in the end?” It is the one that you feed. There are really only two emotions…. Love, and fear. Everything else that we call emotion…. Actually derives from these two. Empathy comes from love…. Hate comes from fear…. And so on. Emotions are not “good” OR “bad”…. But you have to decide which you want to feed. Laziness is a huge problem in the human condition. We are too lazy to decide for ourselves which emotion to feed. We think it’s easier to let someone else decide for us. That’s why SO MANY of us are living in fear these days. Such a shame, such a waste… People need to realize how powerful they are…. Live in love, give in love, the world will be better.
Isn’t laziness actually a form of greed? Expecting the fulfillment of desires based on what someone else does without compensation is the greed of laziness, no?
@@menudobucket9837 I've been thinking about it and I decided there's nothing wrong with us. We are precious and that's what I'm going to keep reminding myself. Ignorance is innocent and when we know better we do better. There's just SO MANY OF US!!! I understand that we see what we focus on so I'm going to be focused on love from now on.
@@ashtree3006 ~ Excellent.. because, as it is written: “God is Love,..” 1st John 4:16 (KJV) As they say: it’s love that makes the world go round. To realize the difference between what’s positive and what’s negative; what’s constructive and what’s destructive; the yin and the yang ☯️ of the universal paradox where change is a constant despite the definition of a constant being something without change; and to then choose to make positive, constructive change is to grow out of ignorance and into knowledge and wisdom which some have decided against, but whose end shall be according to their deeds and not for us to judge. We are, indeed, all precious in His sight. Blessings to you, my dear friend. 🙏🏽
Thank you Jeff. One of the best documentaries 👏 so far! My grandkids need to see this too. And I am gonna make sure they do. Thank you for this...We love you Jeff. We always have. "The dude abides" I'm so glad you are here.
My beliefs have always seen and felt myself in plants, trees, animals, and humans of all forms. The science in this film proves the point well, especially when we focus on the species that live in our oceans.
I find these documentaries very interesting and I pretty much watch all of them.....but sadly they are all the same. A montage of people, scientists and actor narrators telling us all everything we already know. Mankind are their own worst enemy and we are the most evasive species to ever roam this planet. I was born in the early 60's and everything that makes this world what we know it today has happened in my lifetime. After having watched countless videos, movies and documentaries on how we have ruined everything, my best take on it all is that we need to plant more trees, lots of trees, billions of trees, restore eco systems, stabilize eroding landscapes.....it's the easiest thing we could have done as we cleared land for profits and it's something we should be doing right now. So if everyone is so damn worried and guys like Jeff Bridges here along with the countless other celebrities before him with tons of money, more than they'll ever spend, if these people are so damn worry then why don't they spend some of that fortune, just half, a quarter maybe on planting trees and restoring eco systems. I'm retired and on a fixed income, I struggle every year just to get by and for the last 10 or 12 years even I plant 100 to 150 trees a year, whatever I can afford, even a dummy like me knows what we need to do.
A minimalist philosophy is saying how do I need to keep myself to be in a certain way. Look at your actions. Do you need that? Do you benefit from that action? What if you thought you did, but in fact you are cutting off your real needs to keep sustaining unneeded and "marketed" desires.
Obviously Extremely Well Produced 👍 I love watching/observing Jeff. Grew up watching Sea Hunt As a decade's long Boy Scout I have always loved the environment. 🌏🌎🌍 Is a GREAT PLACE TO BE 🥳
Thanks for reminding me, how under the current global hegemony, the current ideology of corporate greed and the ever increasing division between those who have and want to keep and those without who just want to live, you've reminded me the anthropocene man will fail... has already failed and this age is beginning its end. Time to consider what will come in 500... 5000, 100,000 years from now. We had our shot and we blew it. We are the future's past. Good luck you future folks. I hope you know how to build boats, that your tribes never increase past 150 souls and if anyone should ever call him (or herself) chief... run them out of the village or run them through with sharp sticks.
I agree 💯- just the best minds discussing big complex topics simply for me.

Ah-ho.

@@potita24 Very simple statement...that says a lot.

Awful to say but, it has.💔😭
20+ years ago,
I began to share my life with others.
I eased into loving life
& i stopped earning money.
I began to focus on what i wanted & why.
I listened to bob marley say,
Emancipate (Free) yourself from mental slavery.
For me,
Money was mental slavery.
So i began to create fun, simple games for my mind,
To change the chip in my mind that said i need money to support life.
20 years later, i continue to live without money,
Without povery.
Without struggle.
Im a happy person
Ive been having fun & rewarding life since.
I have all that i need & desire.
My standards are high.
The mind Is a powerful tool
I enjoy using.
If we have been taugh to succeed with money,
We can equally be taught to succeed without money.
Have fun.
I find it fun to remember,
The animals never invented money
It’s been 30 years for me. Well worth the wobble.
The only way to do it is if all humans turned off their emotions and started working together like a hive or collective.
This is the first presentation about climate change that has NOT made me feel powerless. People with good hearts are locked into unproductive behaviours because their primitive psychological need for 'more' hasn't been tempered by long term goals for their children, grandchildren and the planet at large.

Why is it the more warlike societies produce the best Art?

Same thing man, especially the last phrases Jeff said. Somehow, seems that individual climate consciousness is a forbidden dogma.

Soul, I translate or assume, it means Life. Hermann was a German. He translated this into English (!) from original Pali and Sanskrit.
There way more to the story of us. We now know we did not evolve from apes. See my comment
Great documentary. Good job to all those involved in the making of this documentary. Bravo!
My man Jeff !!! Did not know you were an environmental guy !!! My new hero !!! 😊😊😊😊
Highly profound and certainly unexpected from Jeff. I'm hopeful that there will be a part 2! NAMASTE
We can excell as soon as all of us realize that there is only ONE race on the planet and we are all on the same space ship like it or not.
I am so pleased at your statement and totally in agreement. NAMASTE
I actually do not think they need a second sequel. Just play it over and over again until we are all dead or we figure it out.
So true. One Race the Human Race. Actually we are the only species known for destroying our own habitat.
Ok- despite the lack of diversity, this is BRILLIANT !!!! Damn good job, Jeff Bridges and team!
Of all creatures, only humans are the dangerous creature.
Blessings on Jeff Bridges, and on all of us.
We must teach this exact information in elementary, middle and high school students. Don't wait until college and hope ppl choose to do something. Education! Early education!
Way more people need to see this.
After studying climate change and the human condition for 35 years, our way forward is to become more like humans and less like a domesticated one. Begin by mastering human sound by becoming an overtone singer. It will take 3 years of practice but the personal and social advantages are enormous
Fantastic Video. People all over the world should watch this Video. Thank you Jeff Bridges for this Video!!!!!!
🎬❤️
Mr J Bridges im truly inspired by this document and I really salute you for taking such an outstanding initiative 🌎.
🇿🇦 South Africa that is where i have also started an environment conservation project to mitigate climate change. I believe that one day with with all the hard work that I've already done since I've resigned from my two permanent employment. The present and future generations will get inspired to also take care of the planet earth 🌎
the powerful do understand our unconscious motivations- this is patly why we are in the mess we are in - advertising and corporations turning wants into needs for short term gain - we've a value system disorder.
I believe people's EGO is the problem.
When I deflated my EGO a Psychic Transformation took place where I began limiting my desires.
Today I am completely Happy with what I have and completely Happy with being
Who I am !!
Shut up.
Your brand new house doesn’t have air conditioning???
I slept on my balcony a couple times when it was too hot
Live together. What a premise. Just a dream. One man can be so mean
Everytime you start something New and Better it was on the "End of the line" of something Old and Worse. We all do it everyday, and if we can do it for ourselves we absolutely can do it together!. The more the merrier, right?🤗❤🩹 Cheers from Sweden 💌🤫
Many thanks from Germany! This film is absolutely great!
This film should be shown in every school all around the earth!!!
Just a beautiful documentary. But I will be honest I am exhausted by what I see as inevitable. I want to help make a real change but as a single cell in the full body of humanity it seems so hopeless. All I can do are my little bits and how I vote. God save our planet and us from ourselves.
If there were a god , god would not have allowed us to be such jerks. 😢
Hard hitting. Really makes you think.
Humans are special in that we can communicate orally, and with signals. This is often demonstrated often amongst many drivers in traffic jams.
Sometimes those hand gentures/signals while stuck in traffic result in arguments, fights, road-rage & "accidents"! Yes, we humans are very special indeed! 🤪🙄😖🤬
I always liked Jeff Bridges...
I'll always love him...thanks

This is a great documentary. So many intelligent people speaking, it’s a pleasure to listen to.
😂😂😂
Awesome doc! Thank you for posting on TH-cam. I hope many, many young people will watch this whole thing. I am 71 yo. So young people are so important to carry on our dreams for the future.
Bless every one of us as we make decisions for ourselves and all others. Love to all, ❤ 7.9.23 USA
Great documentary. At times, they do jump rapidly from one complex psychological or anthropological idea to the next idea, sometimes quicker than my mind can process. Somewhat dizzyingly.
Congratulations. 🌍 Living In The Past Future. #Love #Hope #Faith #Peace #Harmony #Respect. #Time
The only thing, i am going to say is that man can never change, mother nature one way or the other, man is himself part of nature, and he don`t have to do nothing to change it, whats going to happens, happens anyway. Just compare yourself to this vast and infinite Universe, and you will see how small and insignificant we are to alter anything, we are part of the Cosmo that's all.
On a scale of infinity, nothing really exists.
Change is how life evolves. It is how you learn, and grow. And humans have culture beyond nature to evolve. But humans are responsible, if it is immoral and destructive
This documentary discusses all the things I think about in a well informed and well worded way ❤
Very well done.
Perhaps you can tell me why a synthetic oil/petrol cannot be manufactured to do the same job?
But right at the end ...a solution is offered..
LOVE.....and just to stay conscious of LOVE...well ,science says ..
We are what we think.
Unfortunately, you can’t pump love into a car’s gas tank. You however may pump it lovingly, maintain the car so it runs efficiently. Our lives are too intertwined with the use of fossil fuels.
He is one VERY INTELLIGENT and BRAVE MAN. Thank you both.
Very true. Checking out the garage, the kitchen and the swimming pool may be educative and humbling.
The most precious freedom is financial freedom, freedom from debt.
Beautiful and challenging in equal measure. Thank you 🙏🏾
A symbiotic world, we earth humans interconnected to this habitat universe, alas being minutely woven, life is so fragile so invaluable .... TQ Jeff & crew for the awesome production - May the force keep us going ! 🙏🌏✌
Film industry is creating heroes
You know this is good bc Jeff Bridges narrated it. And Jeff Bridges was a Coast Guardsman, soooo, it’s almost like words from Himself. 😃🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
It was the Creator who created science for mankind to discover.
And it became corrupted so as to push God further and further out here~ ultimately denying our Creators existence ~ "Science falsely so called": 1Tim 6:20
It was the creator who created nature for mankind to preserve

Yep.
I wasn't going to watch this, another environmental statically report. So glad I did watch it is more about who we are and who could be. Everyone in this documentary has value and added value to my life.
after GOD sent the great flood HE promissed not to destroy humans again, but GOD warned us that we would destroy ourselves, and its happening right now,GOD is always right😇😇😇
More than anything; what we need are sensible leaders that put life before money, control or personal gain.
Thank you for addressing the taboo subject of oil and the truth about reality in evolution
The dude still abides. ❤
And the question, “which one wins out in the end?”
It is the one that you feed.
Such a shame, such a waste…
People need to realize how powerful they are…. Live in love, give in love, the world will be better.
“Direct ourselves towards peace and contentment.”
The easiest way to have what you want…. Is to want what you have.
"The dude abides"
I'm so glad you are here.
Excellent Most intelligent thing I have watched since Sea Hunt. Thank you very much.
Lol showing your age ....Sea Hunt !
Happy New Year from Alaska
@@ginajones2328 Happy New Year to youGJ. Funny I am reading Micheners Alaska now.
Fantastic documentary. When we zoom out, we realize the complexity of the world and how it doesn't just belong to humans.
THE EARTH, she is so beautiful yet ruthless! I wish I could help her more than I do honestly!
Amazing documentary 👏, let's go together change the world 🌎.
A minimalist philosophy is saying how do I need to keep myself to be in a certain way. Look at your actions. Do you need that? Do you benefit from that action? What if you thought you did, but in fact you are cutting off your real needs to keep sustaining unneeded and "marketed" desires.
Obviously Extremely Well Produced 👍
I love watching/observing Jeff.
Grew up watching Sea Hunt
As a decade's long Boy Scout I have always loved the environment.
🌏🌎🌍 Is a GREAT PLACE TO BE 🥳
For me to be here and watching shows how intelligent I am and will be passes down to my children. Thanks for the documentary ❤
Thank you Monocomy for this documentary.
This was deep, complex, compassionate and beautiful.
