Hi everybody,
The charm of Kyoto is that, though a big city, it is full of temples, historic gardens, and old Japanese-style houses tucked away along streets behind the main avenues. Over 300 shrines, as many as 1,700 temples, and many other cultural assets/properties from the long history of the city impress visitors. Some of them are world-famous and have the UNESCO World Heritage designation. Since ancient times, Shinto and Buddhism have been coexisting in Japan. That’s why there are both shrines and temples throughout the country.
