I have a skimmer skiff and I actually pulled my trolling motor off shortly after I bought the skiff. I fish by myself 80% of the time and I usually just pole the boat backwards from the bow and hold the pole between my legs when I need to make a cast. I mainly fly fish btw. Trolling motor is nice but I would rather save the weight.

Get you a shollow water anchor system it’s removable
They make one that you just stick your pole in a bracket and that holds you I place
Seems like both skiffs have issues need to get something bigger 16 or 17ft ... put your son on that polling platform share the work lol
Maybe electric trim tabs could help the boat out. It would have been nice if they integrated the fuel tank up front, but the boat looks great and it looks like it can get pretty shallow
Heading towards a Jon or a Shallow Sport boat it's just a matter of time.

I had an 18ft flat bottom once upon a time. Pulling the plug while on plane was how I would drain the boat OTW.
This is a bare bones boat for 2 adults. Best get that summer diet started lol.
