My jaw literally dropped when she talked about having her hair in "rags" as a kid. I'm 37 and I remember my mom putting my hair in rags because her mother curled her hair that way. It was like a whole occasion- my mom would cut an old pillow case into strips and would sit me down and twist small sections of damp hair around the "rag," tie it in a knot, and you had the most miserable night of sleep, lol. But then you woke up and fought through tiny knots and tangles to reveal a head of short, somewhat frizzy ringlets. 😂 I lived for them though, begged for them the night before every school picture day. Ohh the times for hair have certainly changed for the better.
