My boy shakoda’s mom is a full blooded black melanated Bengal and his father is a grey tabby Maine Coon mix. He is very distinguished looking and u can’t keep him out of water. He’s 1 yr old last month and just now started growing big. He’s a good 15 pounds right now… and every month it seems he’s getting longer and thicker. What I like is last year in the fall as a bitty kitten and now this year is that his coat gets big and fluffy as it gets colder _ and his whiskers and ear hair gets longer thicker and it’s just so beautiful. He has that Bengal hyperactivity _ but at night he has that gentle giant sweet lovable character where he turns into a big baby that wants to be cuddled and sleep with u.
@tensei1710 If you are able to confirm that he doesn't have another home, I think it may be a good idea to take him in! A warm home shouldn't be a huge issue, even for a Maine Coon cat. Wishing you all the best!
2+ years and still a big kitten. Playing, playing, playing. Love of water is there, no doubt. Got her like a nano indoor pond and she loves to put her toys in there and dig out the plants. We've got a good thing going for the coat. daily brushing with a soft brush and weekly combing.
I have a Maine Coon. We adopted him as a kitten 4 years ago this coming December. He’s such a loving little guy! Very sweet natured. He loves to be brushed, and enjoys a good cuddle. He’s a Mama’s boy for sure, and I absolutely love him. So glad I walked into Petsmart that day, and saw him up for adoption. ❤️
I am owned by a male Maine Coon. Adopted him from a no-kill shelter. Loki is a grumpy old man in a young cat's body. He hates being picked up. He will follow me from room to room. I've heard him meow once. The rest of the time he chirps and trills. He is my emotional support animal, and he hops up onto the couch to join me. He'll lay down on me and go to sleep. It did take him some time to mature. His coat grew out, and he now has a neck ruff that would make a lion jealous. Before that he resembled a big short haired cat.
I live in Maine & our cat is 3/4 Maine Coon. He just turned 1 last month & he's a big boy already. I've taught him tricks in my native tongue, so he understands both Passamaquoddy & English.
Rocky, our MCx was rescued by a friend in Miami along with her brother Joey. Joey passed in 2019, but Rocky is still with us at 19yo. We also have/had DSH cats, but there's certainly something different and special about Joey and Rocky. At his heaviest, he was about 18-19 lbs, while Rocky's weight was about 10lbs.
I have a beautiful male Maine Coon named Einstein who was adopted. He is really shy and has a very heightened sense of alertness so He's initially afraid of anything new. 23.3 lbs and 36" from head to tail.
I had a female in Vermont for many years. Once she disappeared for around a week. Turns out she stepped on a trap. Chewed her own paw off to escape and limped home. They are smart.
What a gorgeous breed of cat! My cat was from a humane society and she was called a Persian (calico). My favorite trait is how amazingly interactive she is. She’s always nearby or on my lap, always comes when I call her. Loves to be brushed and chatted with. She is simply the best companion. I am blessed. ❤
Moved to Wisconsin, it's funny how all the strays are Maine coone looking cats, I guess they're all predisposed to survive winter, rarely see domestic shorthairs which were the typical strays I saw elsewhere in the country. (We recently picked up a kitten from a construction site that's either a Maine coone or a Norwegian forest cat, curious to see how she turns out.)

Brought him home. He was thin at the bay. Today weighs 22 lbs. Did DNA, 25% Mainecoon, Siberian etc. Charles is loving, follows me, plays. Now about 5 years. Always in my lap. Gets along with my other two cats. Love him.
I've always wanted a Maine Coon. They are very appealing, intelligent and affectionate. But I've always adopted from the shelter. Our cat who died a year and a half ago in March was a Bombay, all black with green eyes. The vet said he was mostly Bombay, but we adopted him because he picked us. I'm grateful that we had him because Bombays are longer lived. I am glad this channel encourages people to adopt instead of buying purebreds. It's good to have information about purebreds too but I want to add my voice to Mallory's and encourage people to please adopt. If you love a pure breed get one of those and adopt a couple from the shelter too!

Most shelters don't have purebreds though. And not everyone can find or travel to breed specific adoption centers. Adopting is fine, I would never discourage someone from it. . .but buying from an ethical breeder shouldn't be demonized if someone has their heart on a specific breed of that that they intend to take lifelong responsibility for.

I specifically said that people should by all means adopt whatever breed they wish but that they should also consider adopting from shelters. Perhaps you might question why you think pure breeds are better. They aren't, they don't live as long usually. When we breed animals, emphasizing certain qualities at the expense of others we often breed in medical issues. Look at pugs for example. I didn't say that anyone should not adopt or purchase exactly what they want. What I said was that people should consider adopting pets from shelters. Without regard to the breed but rather the need. I hope this clarifies my position. I look forward to your response.

I adopted two orange taby brothers and one of them is Maine Coon, 6 months old, 24 ïnches long, loves to eat, loves ice chunks in his water bowl and is a total giant love bug, he drags shoes and pillows arround the house like a dog would and has the meow of a baby kitten. Great videos, I really enjoy watching them.

I have a roughly 7 month old Maine Coon who as of this comment is experiencing her first heat and given that this is my first and only cat that I've had, it's been a learning experience for both of us. As a guy, frantically searching at 3am for how to comfort a cat in heat was a pretty surreal moment for me and now here I am the next night, looking up cat facts before bed so that I'm (hopefully) more prepared for future surprises. Great channel, just subscribed. Thanks for making these, as a relatively new cat-dad I sincerely appreciate the effort.
Ooh you should have mentioned the difference between european qnd american maine coones. From what i gather the american ones look more like a house cat and the other looks more like a wild cat.
I've wondered if our cat had some Maine Coon in him. He's muscular, long and weighs 14 pounds. He's not extra fluffy, though. He's a rescue. They said he was a flame point siamese, but being a rescue without any history before a year ago, we don't know if he has a little something in him, but he's definitely bigger than normal cats. We are in a cold climate, North Idaho.
Would love if you did a video on siberians☺️. I would have rescued but I have terrible allergies. So I helped as best I can by adopting a 2 year old retired male that still needs a fair amount of socialization. Anyway love your videos!
Maine Coon next door to us is the most person averse cat ever. He does bring mice, rats, rabbits and moles home every night though.. Obviously birds too. Little horror. Lol
The Maine Coon breed is the most spectacular and amazing animal in the feline world!!!! They are breathtaking!!! While I have several cats from many lineages ie.... "kitty mutts" 😅, this breed has always deserved the best of the best! And to all of us with our "kitty mutts", they are all special and bring so much joy to our lives❤
Absolutely love Maine Coons, and my countries Norwegian Forest Cats. My dad and stephmom were legitimate proper Maine Coon breeders, so I've spent a lot of time with that breed. And my aunt used to breed Norwegian Forest Cats, so also spent a lot of time with them. ❤️ Way back, Vikings were responsible for bringing cats up here to Norway and the rest of Scandinavia.
The most special thing about my cat might be that he has very little fur on the back of his ears. This makes them extra soft to the touch, almost silk-like, and not unlike Wessie he does likes his ear rubs :)
What facts do people not know about Pure breed Burmese cats???? I saved one last year and she is appox 15 or 16 yrs old, would love to learn more about her, my mother used to breed cats as very young.
Love your videos. We have a Ginger Cat who is a rescue (I know the Rescue) and looks nothing like his siblings. I think he is part Maine Coon. However, he is the tiniest cat I've ever had. He has this cute meow and always wants to be herd. His name is Kurt Cobain (we did not name him but his litter was called "The Lithium Kitties" and all his siblings are singers from Nirvana. The "Owner" of the kittens released them to the Rescue b/c she was a drug addict and was trying to sell the 3 week old kittens on the street. Thank you to the Rescue, I am blessed to have this little Cobain. He loves to be brushed, is not a lap cat, is constantly tormenting his two older "Catmates". "Kid Rock", yes another rock star, thinks he is his daddy and constantly grooms and loves him. "Martini", our other cat, tolerates him. It is always hysterical to watch this little cat run around the house with his fluffy tail up in the air. It looks like a fox tail. Cobain is just about 7 pounds and not a shorthair but a little fluffball. He is incredibly finicky unlike his brothers who are food hogs. His little face and tufted ears look just like the orange kitty in your video at 2:49. Keep those videos coming!

I don't care what 'breed' I own. . .but I'd be lying if I said there weren't a few I'd truly consider. While I would never try to turn people away from adoption. . .I would also say if your heart is set on a specific breed (be it cat or dog) and you can locate an ethical breeder. . .it is your right to choose that route. Yes, there are breed adoptions. . . but lets be real. . .not everyone can travel long distance, not every adoption place is ethical themselves OR going to let you adopt. . .and not all of them are able to do indepth health testing. An ethical breeder at least SHOULD be taking genetic health concerns into consideration. Yes, adoption is wonderful. . . but I don't like how people choosing to buy are demonized.
I have a Female Maine Coon named Jackie. I adopted her from a shelter that was hosting a free adoption event, she was only 2 months old when I brought her home. She's now 5 years old and is happy and well to this day :) Edit: She's a great hunter (has caught mice, cockroaches, and scorpions since we live in Mexico) and she's a very playfull cat but also likes to sleep a lot. She does get scared when she hears voices that aren't mine, my mom or my dad's and hides if she hears other people in the house.
Our Maine Coon is a rescue, so he is probably a mixed breed with all the characteristics of the breed. He is calm, sweet and very doglike in his devotion to me. He is a lovely family member. Thank you for your tribute to this lovely breed.
I have a lovely blue purebred Maine Coon female. At 11 months old, she's already 13lbs (not overweight by the vet's assessment) - she's just going to be a very big girl. She seems very typical of her breed; she chirps and trills in response to being spoken to, follows me around the house like a Cocker Spaniel, and prefers to be by a chilly exterior window rather than sitting next to the fireplace - no surprise, considering her dense coat. She's a very messy eater, and she drags her chest ruff through every meal; I'd love to hear how other MC owners keep all that hair out of the food bowl.
I have a 10 month old Maine Coon/ Tabby. He favours the look of the Maine Coon. He's a really good cat, very affectionate, he does however, hides and swats at people as they go back.
Adopted 4 cats one of which is pure breed Maine Coon and if you don’t mind regular grooming they’re awesome and mine can be chatty at 3am but wouldn’t give her up
I was gave a 1 year old Maine Coon girl last week, I'm doing research on her, she answers her name like a dog, sweet as can be! She does the tail wagging and all.
Maine Coon cats can do okay in hot, humid environments, but if the temperature is regularly exceeding 90 degrees and you're not able to cool the house down, that may be an issue!
@@AllAboutCatsYT Interesting. My cousin has a Maine Coon and lives in Florida, but like most proper Floridians keeps the AC on pretty much year round. The heavy coat probably keeps them warm in the summer when the AC is cranked up!

My cat was part Maine and bobcat! Lake county CA! Largest natural lake in California! Now a park.

I have a lovely blue purebred Maine Coon female. At 11 months old, she's already 13lbs (not overweight by the vet's assessment) - she's just going to be a very big girl. She seems very typical of her breed; she chirps and trills in response to being spoken to, follows me around the house like a Cocker Spaniel, and prefers to be by a chilly exterior window rather than sitting next to the fireplace - no surprise, considering her dense coat. She's a very messy eater, and she drags her chest ruff through every meal; I'd love to hear how other MC owners keep all that hair out of the food bowl.
I have a 10 month old Maine Coon/ Tabby. He favours the look of the Maine Coon. He's a really good cat, very affectionate, he does however, hides and swats at people as they go back.
In playing with my three Maines right now enjoying this entirely! Each of the boys are 18lbs plus and very long. Ha!
Adopted 4 cats one of which is pure breed Maine Coon and if you don’t mind regular grooming they’re awesome and mine can be chatty at 3am but wouldn’t give her up

I was gave a 1 year old Maine Coon girl last week, I'm doing research on her, she answers her name like a dog, sweet as can be! She does the tail wagging and all.
I had him cremated I have his ashes he sitting in front of the TV with his favorite toy a red jelly belly doll

If you have air con all day for the hot times its fine. But they do suffer in heat. So it depends where in India you live 🙂
Maine Coon cats can do okay in hot, humid environments, but if the temperature is regularly exceeding 90 degrees and you're not able to cool the house down, that may be an issue!
@@AllAboutCatsYT Interesting. My cousin has a Maine Coon and lives in Florida, but like most proper Floridians keeps the AC on pretty much year round. The heavy coat probably keeps them warm in the summer when the AC is cranked up!
