The song is composed with a fusion of 2 beautiful tunes - the verse is based on Madonna’s classic 2012 hit called ‘Masterpiece’ while the chorus comes from the melodious gospel hymn ‘Above All Powers’.
Composed in 2014 and sung on stage in Kuwait and Goa, the song is based on the famous myth circulating on the internet about untimely deaths of people who insulted God.
No one can say that we understand the reason behind tragedies. It is not as simple as the picture painted in our heads by these stories.
There have been people who said horrible things about God but did not die tragically, instead prospered and went on to live old.
While there have also been cases of ‘highly devout Christians’ who met with terrible and tragic deaths.
In such cases, we cannot say that God knows best. When it happens to someone famous outside the fold, it is seen as disaster.
Some legends and songs are perhaps written only to induce fear into people. Truth is, we are all groping for the light… Devacho ghutt dev zannam.
