@@Agent1W Yeah, but as a representation of Lenin the statue still looks basically nothing like him. I can't really blame the developers since they had more important things to focus on with a limited graphics engine, but still.

The only one who was a little porky was Stalin.
Idk why but out of all the military uniforms, the non-nazi German & Nazis had very appealing gear. I do not condone their ideology or what the Nazis did,but their regalia has such superior stature. The Soviets have a bland appearance imo and look similar to other countries, except maybe part of their navy.
Right here....my nightmare...St. Petersburg's Statue Park....I'm almost 33 and still get chills from this pain in the ass of a level...used to love this game so much...cool to see how it aged well..
When I was younger Archives was my fear. I swear the doors would open on their own even after I killed all the guards. My uncle and stepdad never believed me. (This is pretty much all I'd do as a kid lol. I'd just play a level and camp)
Just wanted to stop by and say I’m playing this for the first time(maybe one of the most fun shooters ever) and I came here because this level is making me want to jump off a bridge 😂 every time I go to the end of the park all the black ops appear and shoot me
"Back from the dead. We're both orphans, James. But where your parents had the luxury of dying in a climbing accident, mine survived the British betrayal and Stalin's execution squads. My father couldn't let himself or my mother live with the shame of it. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you? No, you're supposed to die for me. By the way, I did think of asking you to join my little scheme, but somehow I knew that 007's loyalty is always to the mission - never to his friend. Closing time, James. Last call.
This level was so cool as a kid to me. I watched my step dad try and figure out how to do everything in the level and he kept getting the girl shot at the end. Finally I suggested he put his gun away and when it worked we both lost it and high fived a lot. It's poorly designed by today's standards but the memory was worth it.
@@tyreepowell8367 I remember watching my older brother play through story mode, and on this particular mission, it took so long to find the Flight Records. I think eventually one of my other brothers suggested going back into the level
I remember for the longest time I couldn't beat this mission as a kid cause I would start shooting at the enemies at the end and fail XD my whole family was trying to figure this out until one day I just decided to walk up to them without shooting and see what happens. I was so proud of myself lol.
Anyone else refer to the AK in golden eye as the "battery gun?" (looks like a duracell battery so thats what me and all of my friends, at the age of 8, would call it.)
This and Surface 2 were the most eerie and creepy missions, the music sums it up along with the enemies coming right after you in the dark and Surface 2 had the Arctic snowsuit guys chasing you in the red fog that look like Sasquatches lol
This was a nightmare for me for a good hour before I beat it. The worst part was reaching the Statue unharmed and then having to deal with more of those regular guards appearing randomly for like another 2-5 minutes while waiting for Janus and his guards.
This mission is balls honestly. Your natural instinct when you see guys with guns walking up to you is to shoot so that's a fail. Then when you need to get the flight recorder your instincts say it should be somewhere near the helicopter but then you need to backtrack. Then at the end once again you will probably try to shoot the guards and it won't be obvious to hold your fire and let them talk.
This and Surface 2 were the eeriest missions due to the theme and the mission taking at night. I get so freaked out as a kid especially when the soldiers ran fast towards you in the dark and I would pull my gun out instantly. Memories.
This is the level with the most objectives on Agent difficulty. Only by completing an objective can you trigger the next one (Janus won't meet you by Lenin's Statue unless you first talk to Valentin, for example).
So, growing up, my brothers and I would play through this level, but, we always just looked up at the statue when Janus arrived. We all saw the movie too. It wasn't until watching this playthrough that I saw Trevelyan and his crew appear from the shadows
The worst part of unlocking the Cheat for this Level is when you're trying to make Valentin walk a little forward pushing C. Left and C. Right and then you Z-Press and Chop him.
That was no doubt intentional. It's a "graveyard" for Soviet-era statues and monuments. The movie starts in 1986, with James and Alec teaming up to destroy a Soviet chemical weapons facility, hence why Alec shows up nearly a decade later as Janus in a spot reminiscent of the Cold War.
Oh thank God this was up I just started playing the game this weekend again for who the hell knows how long and I’ve always hated this map I would not have passed this without your video thank you

Ugh, the cave map in multiplayer. It was my self proclaimed favourite level but only because my older brothers and sisters would never allow it to be picked. In hindsight I fully understand why.
