It's kinda implemented for the Lord, have seen it just now. When you place a building over the Lord he respawns back in the castle, specifically the place where villagers spawn. Might be able to do the same quickly.
I don't know about the specifics but it should be fairly simple to execute, just put "If player is hovering building over you, move away from building center"
Small adjustments and bugs are to be expected, I would expect them to be fixed over time. Hopefully skirmish can be added in the future alongside a DLC. I'll support the developers regardless, without it we won't be seeing a Stronghold Crusader re-master/re-make. EDIT: I 100% agree with placement of buildings and villagers getting in the way, they should be deleted or instantly move out of the zone.

Maybe something like zombie-horde-like mode, survival mode, or tower defense mode? Maybe there's already a mod for one of these, but having them official and part of menu is nice to have.
Not adding a skirmish is fine IF, they are already making plans to remake crusader. If they wanted to test the waters if proper remakes were worth their time thats fine, but now its time to deliver. Id rather crusader come sooner than skirmish get added to SH1, in my honest opinion
i don't even need the bigger maps i would love to have them but i would literally kill for a skirmish mode i would buy the game immediately if they added it otherwise i really don't see much reason to get it when i already have hd and crusader other than that it looks prettier and plays nicer :/
Imo its a good edition for people, who A) create many maps because the editor got many new good Events and triggers, or B) Like to play MP, which is IMO a Lot easier to play now Nice Quality of Life changes Like the Auto-Market or recruiting many troops with one mouseclick are great Too But If You dont need These changes the HD Edition is completely fine too
here what I would want (been playing this game since 14 years} 1. Keep the graphics as it was in stronghold crusader 2. Big maps 3. new AI 4. remove blocking of building construction 5. add new buildings and new troops 6. new AI lords
@@nuke1863 There are still missing things that you cannot change, and they could have added more events and conditions. Vision engine games [SH3, C2 and W] all have plenty of conditions for various events that could fit well into the editor.

@@nuke1863 Any event can be triggered by anything bassicaly. Building count, what building, position of units, created units, created weapons, time. Because no event has any restriction on that and the fact you can even have multiple conditions, you can just go nuts for it. For Stronghold 3 there are custom maps with 'fake' skirmish opponents that have custom invasions and messages depending on if you moved units to a certain point or did you destroy something AI had. You can even set it up so AI can activate said conditions, so like creating an invasion that goes a specific path and then it going on a marker to activate something else. Its great freedom, its even fun creating Skirmish maps with Flood mechanics on Warlords or having Night and Day cycle in Stronghold 3.

The only other thing I miss (apart from a Skirmish mode) is some of the old exploits. The worker dupe/ ox tether bug used to really come in handy in single player. Since even on the faster game speeds, workers take their sweet-ass time getting recources to the granary/ stockpile. Apart from that, I'm really enjoying it
I also enjoy the siege that! Mode . Perhaps you can make a series from seiging the best ones from the workshop? I would like to see you take some of mine on

I've been thinking about what needs to be done to heal the multiplayer and I've come to a conclusion that it needs to be fully customisable. Host should be able to set very specific values for availablity/cost of each building or unit, stats for each unit (hp, dmg, mov spd and so on), market prices, literally everything. These settings should be easy to share with the others so the best set of rules would spread quickly across the community. Also co-op scenarios is a must have and I still can't wrap my head around why they weren't added yet and aren't even in plans. Rn you can only fight against your friends and you cannot co-op with them against invasion/siege which is really, really disappointing.

if you do not have enough resources and try to place something the text saying how much it costs and what you have in parenthesis gets replaced and takes like 5 seconds to go back, it should be in a different place in the ui instead of replacing vital information. a problem i found for example and given the devs watch this channel might as well mention it.
I finished all new missions on very hard, not too difficult for a veteran, but I agree the story telling was very lack lustre, didn't feel like we were going up against the rat or snake they were just kind of, added on it feels. I hope the DLC missions are HARDER and more fleshed out story
would have liked a mission where i could build a big ol' castle, with walls all around and a moat etc. I mean, it is a castle builder, i've zero interest in commando type missions where you have to sneak a team around a maze
skirmish isn't gonna happen even if they wanted to add it, they just haven't dedicated the development resources to pull off any major additions, it wasn't in the original either and it's sorta what made shc special anw the networking code remains unchanged, it's just as bad as playing the original/shc over gameranger, if not worse since the game doesn't communicate the issues to you like gr does and there's many, many new players trying it out who have no idea how it works and how to adjust your connection... I guess you got lucky with that one game, just one more person in the lobby and prolly with stable enough internet

The net code will start showing itself more and more as you play more serious matches The lobbying system is overall an improvement since the original game didn't even have it, BUT it's still nowhere near modern-day standards. There's supposed to be an standard way of playing the game (Some starting wood and no other starting goods/units for example) and there should be a quick play button at the very least, I'd argue matching people with similar skill and leaderboards are kinda important too for making the online scene stable but they might think it's not worth the effort idk
the thing is that all they promised for multiplayer was the ability to connect over steam directly instead of having to use third party software and they delivered on that, just about everybody assumed that this'd also mean other fixes like a reworked net code, better balancing or proper matchmaking but they again didn't have the development resources dedicated for that and they most certainly ain't adding that post release
Now play stronghold all the time, I'm disappointed, there are a lot of bugs and glitches in the game that are annoying. Muliplayer freezes and doesn't work, I think there will be a good game in a few months. It makes me sad that Firefily took a very good game and made a remake of it, which is not good at the moment :( it's a pity. ver 1.03
The point is, many players loved SH1 style and they have been requesting a skirmish mode for so long. Considering that it probably doesn't require much effort, it's a disappointment that we can't get it even in this new version
As much as I love this new game, it still bothers me that the developers did not even solve any fundamental flaws of the original game in this so-called "definitive" version. Yeah sure, this is cool and the new graphics and somewhat improved controls are promising, but that's all really. I appreciate the efforts put into this, but I kinda get the feeling that developers were just lazy and wanted to release a new game with minimal efforts/budget.

It's pretty good but would have been better with skirmish. The main campaign is as bad if not worse than the original though, due to unnecessary changes that force you to exploit the AI to beat siege levels in the first place. Due to a lack of skirmish I pretty much uninstalled the game after beating all the campaigns and went back to crusader. I have 0 interest in multiplayer. Honestly, they should have remastered crusader instead. IMO it's the better game of the two with more units, AIs, skirmish and even "campaign" levels. I think it's also more popular as well.
The desert atmosphere is Just Not a thing for everybody. I too Like to play it and its skirmish Mode from time to time but i take an 'european atmosphere' anytime over the Same brown Pixel for the 1000th time.

Leave the women and children for company and realism, but make them so that they aren't coded as "characters" and you can build over them.

I think you can press F1 and causes random events. Such as invasions.
At least it was the case in Crusader, can't remember if it was in Stronghold 1.

One of the saddest things of this edition is that they never improve the map editor.
At least they added some New events and triggers, so theres that + You dont need to Copy&paste Mission 10 or 12 for the 'take over castle' event

I think that the new campaign is very lazy. No new voice lines as promised, no prequel elements, very boring.
