Way Over Budget On Our Treehouse Cabin Build

- Building our treehouse cabin had been full of challenges and struggles. This is the first time I have opened up about our issues with financing and getting our loans for the cabin build. Scary time in our economy to be building anything!
We fell in love with eastern Oklahoma and the 100-foot majestic pine trees and rolling mountains. In 2022, we bought about two acres of land in Muse, OK, on Billy Creek, which is located about 1/2 mile from the 1.5 million acre Ouachita National Forest, nestled between the Ouachita Mountains and the Kiamichi Mountains and is where you can find the Kiamichi River. There are hundreds of miles of trails for ATVs, SxSs, motorcycles, horses, hiking, and mountain bikes. We are also just a few minutes south of the famous Talimena Scenic Drive (Highway 1 that connects Talihina, Oklahoma, and Mena, Arkansas). This area is rapidly growing for the short term rental business with Airbnb and VRBO. What started off as just a little camp site so we could go play in the great outdoors with our Polaris RZR, quickly evolved into a glamping site, and now we are building an awesome treehouse cabin on the creek.
Come along with us on this journey as we document the build of our treehouse cabin and how our life in trees began….

As someone fixing up a property.... the Banks are SOOoooooooo frustrating!! Can't wait to see it all fancy and done! -- J.Andre. / Old Iron Acres
It’s so frustrating. I know that my lack of knowledge on how to navigate this process of partially to blame, but dang!! I have never had so many issues getting a loan. Sigh….
Beautiful house in the forest
Thank you.
Where is this place? I built a 800 sq. Ft myself so I know what it takes. I was the contractor and did most of the work, or it would have cost tooooo much.
Mine was elevated 4’, but would I’ve to do a tree house. Looks good, keep going.
It’s located in SE Oklahoma about 3 1/2 hours from where we live. If I had the skill to build something like that , which I don’t unfortunately, it would take years on occasional weekends. lol.
# 999 X 999🎉
What’s that mean?
WOW, you really have screwed up.
Yup. You can say that again!!
so your going to run out of money again .....
Probably if we can’t finish this dang thing up! Closing in 7 days now! Wooot!
I am sure by now the already did run out of money. The ending with new dreams bandwagon...
It looks like using nearby AirBNB owner as a constructor is not the best idea, he will happily help him round the project into ground as many times as needed. He may also be the first one at auction to buy the property after foreclosing.
@OP, you only need to (partially) finish the first floor to start renting. It will be much better than nothing.
@@matpold you may be accurate. lol. Now it’s almost completed. They are painting the walls and doing flooring this week.
@@OurLifeInTrees this is good news, I hope it does get finished.
