I know I've said this a bunch of times but seeing this reminded me of my score, I got 8.5 in speaking on my first IELTS test.
    Here's some of my tips:
    - too fancy words are not needed Ex icing on the cakes, raining cats and dogs...
    - relax and don't stress too much about not knowing the topic, remember the examiner is going to grade you on speaking. In cases that the topic is really out of your knowledge, you can try to change the topic during the speak. When you are talking try to slip a few things and talk about that.
    - if you get stopped midway and asked to talk more generally etc, don't worry that happened to me personally, I believe he did that so he can score me higher

Of course band score not depend on being a native English speaker but it is totally depend on systematic and accuracy of the student's effort in exam. Steven is a little bit nervous with IELTS mock test and Maddie encourage him with a supportive expression. Even though he had nervous with a mock test I love his confident on speaking fluently. I do love his critical thinking in speaking exam his fluency is great to look back.

I felt like the examiner sometimes just reading the written questions whose answers are previously mentioned by the speaker. She needs to be more flexible I think. I’ve been in the situation before where I answered and explained things in details for one question but then the teacher asked me another one whose answer is pretty obvious as I’ve told it right before. So I have to either repeat what I said or thinking something new to say :(( and sometimes I don’t have much idea to share.

Rehearsed responses? Perhaps what this teacher doesn't is that expressions such as eco-friendly lifestyle, reducing CO2 emissions, contributing physical health, etc. appear so many times in texts when someone starts learning English, specifically the topic of climate change. Also, if this candidate is really preoccupied with climate change issues isnperfectly normal that he uses such lexical chunks. Nothing wrong with that, and no rehearsal of course! Please teacher/examiner/observer, do a favoir to us all: do not be so picky and punctillious.

I watch video from IELTS daily very often, I find your videos have low volume even though I watch on computer. I wish you could record your video with high or proper volume next time.
