Sorry for a late response. 20gauge or 18gauge is a good choice to begin making flowers and you can use a thicker wire like 17g or 15g as a stem part while maintaining the flower details with 20g or 18g to make it look more stable and prevent the whole thing from bending over by the heavy flower weifht
