Absurdism really calls my name. Im currently 17 years old, and there was a time where nihilism really took its toll on me. I was 16 when I first realized the inherent meaninglessness of life and the insignificance we all harbor in the grand scheme of things. However, the more Ive thought on this topic, the more clarity I seem to find. So what if we’re “insignificant”, isn’t everything? If there is no point to any of this, it truly doesn’t matter how long one lives or how big their universal presence may be, as ultimately you serve no greater purpose than to just be…to just exist. Whether you’re a black hole, a red star, a supernova, a galaxy, or just a carbon-based meat sack roaming a tiny planet, absolutely nothing is objectively “significant”. While many including myself feel or have felt sadness from the overwhelming reality of life, I now see a reason to continue. The reason is simple……you won’t believe this, but its to simply live. To be able to experience the movies, to hang with my other carbon-based companions placed in the same predicament, to love my family and others, and to look up at the sky and look in awe as I experience the universe for the first and only time. I have won the most absurd lottery by being born-a staggering 1^2,460,000 chance of being born. This is not a time to dwell in despair, but a time to celebrate and live authentically. We’re all in this together, so all we can do is enjoy the ride!
Same bro, I think it's the initial shock and disillusionment when you come of age, when you lose the rose-tinted glasses that the safety and comfort of childhood can afford and your awe and wonder is replaced by the hardship of self-sufficiency etc. I think it can force you into the pessimistic hopelessness of nihilism at 1st. But like you said, if you can learn to just be and take it for what it is you can find meaning in embracing the absurdity. It kinda becomes comical actually.
