Yes, thanks for perfect Snape. The most perfect adaption of a book character I have ever seen, actually. I could not ever have asked for anything else.
I love Alan Rickman in Sense and Sensibilities. The scene when he first laid eyes on Kate Winslet while she was singing and playing the piano forte was so touching. He didn't speak one word, only emotions. Unforgettable
Yes yes and triple yes, and also where he asks Elinor "..give me a task or I shall run mad.." You can see the pain etched on his face.. ANd then when Marianne thanks him, after fetching her mother... Oh my goodness the subtle but beautiful emotions that play across his face.. *sighs* Alan is sadly missed by many. I will definitely be buying the book of his Diaries, when it comes out. Best wishes from Wales.
He played "interesting people" so well that when he played parts such as Harry in "Love Actually" he comes off as a cold grouch, which is still well done, especially the line when he says: "What else is there? You going to fill it with chocolate buttons?" in regards to the gift wrapping of the Christmas present.
How could you not love Alan Rickman. He played everyone of his characters so over the top, but not at all in a hacky way, more in a complicitous way, as if giving us a discrete wink, welcoming us into the story... We miss you, friend.
It's true that no one could have portrayed Professor Snape better than Alan Rickman, but in case they revive Professor Snape in future, we would still have Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddlestone for the role. Rest in peace Professor Snape.
Yes! Colonel Brandon in the book is rather drab and nondescript, and though we know he is stable and kind and loves her, we don't get much sense of whether he can make her *happy* Rickman wipes away every doubt. He manages to play a true-to-the-book Brandon, yet brings him alive in a way the book (excellent as it is) never does.
He was a great actor. My favorite character is Alexander Dane in 'Galaxy Quest'. It was so totally unlike any of his other well known roles. In this one, he spoofed himself, and was wonderful! Sigourney Weaver also played a character she never does, and did it so well. R.I.P. dear Alan.
There was going to be a sequel, and as far as I know, everybody was on board to reprise their roles, but plans were scratched after his death ... no one wanted to do the sequel without him. ❤️
Alan Rickman was a true gentleman and a grand inspiration to all the young actors in the Harry Potter franchise. Superb actor !!! He is greatly missed 😪😪😪
True, the original is dead. But we have so many recordings of him. Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly are touring, and even Lawrence Olivier was in a film after he was dead (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, an underappreciated film IMO). Intel was working on software to simulate voices of people based on past recordings over ten years ago, and you can already get AI-generated faces for modelling purposes in your advertising. Consider how credible deep fakes are even today. Actor simulations was even explored in the films Sim0ne, and Robin Wright at the Congress. Alan Rickman 2.0 isn't a question of IF, it's a question of WHEN. And if it's not good enough, there will be a 2.1...
such a sad loss... one of my favorite actors. great vid. thanks. Edit: 2024: Still brings sadness to think he's gone. Such a great actor. In some of my favorite movies. And, as impersonators know, one of the most distinctive voices since Sean Connery.
I still can't believe one of my favorite actors, Alan Rickman has passed. Even the satire Galaxy Quest was brilliantly done. It seemed at times almost more for him than the headliner, what's his name...To play a Shakespearian actor, playing an actor, playing himself was really a great movie to watch and what a "bloody Shame" that it never garnered the critical acclaim it should have. Yes it was goofy, but I always thought is was brilliantly goofy. And the special effects and the referral to all of the goodies that fake space programs gave us was hi tech space comedy at it's finest. It truly was a great fun movie to watch, do you agree? "They're Miners, Not Minors!!!"
Actually "Trekker" here and loved, loved, LOVED "Galaxy Quest." _So_ well done. The entire cast was perfect, they had great chemistry, and yes, Rickman was startlingly funny...and then he had that utterly sincere, beautiful moment of comfort for the dying alien and broke your damn heart. That scene never fails to choke me up.
That made me crack up! It made me think of him when his prosthetics were hanging off of his face & head and how utterly miserable he looked. He was so hilarious! It's such a silly movie but it's one of my faves. Alan Rickman will be forever missed.
Never a finer actor so underestimated. Such a fine person too so humble and generous. That voice knows no equal. And it was even said in a study done that his voice has the "perfect" pitch. I was 10 years old when I saw Robin Hood and that was a done deal for me. He was so great at comedy too just hilarious in Dogma and Galaxy Quest. From villain to comedian, distinguished gentleman to gunslinger, musicals to eunuch angel....he was the real deal.
As a teenager, I saw it on...oh, one of those independent film channels, and it immediately became one of my favourite movies. He is SO good in it, charming and hilarious and heartbreaking.
He was also in a great small film called” blow dry” with Natasha Richardson s well as Bill Nighy. great movie about a hair styling competition. AMAzing ly funny!!!
My favourite Rickman film was Love Actually. It never actually revealed if he has a physical affair but the guilt and confusion he portrayed of his mental struggle was amazing for a comedy film. I hope he was as likable in real life. So many celebs unfortunately aren't
