diesel is the way to go - got my 2019 ram 2500, super awesome power - only 7k miles but it goes and pulls without issue

Are you sure those are porpoises? Up in BC we call them Pacific Whiteside Dolphins.
We only saw them briefly, but I think the common species in the Hood Canal are called a Harbor porpoise. It sure was cool to see them on the water like that though. There were also Orcas spotted there this summer!😮
Would be really NICE if you could have have those single pane windows changed out for some double paned ones when you visit Cali. (if not earlier)

Yes, such a beautiful place! That slug was actually in Monroe Wa, and they were EVERYWHERE! Would have been cool to see in the NP too!

Hey I’m very interested in your experience with the Mercedes diesel emissions system. I’m especially interested in how idling affects the diesel particulate filter and how biodiesel affects the engine. Do you even use biodiesel? Do you have trouble finding regular diesel fuel? Do you avoid idling?
We talk a little more about it in the next vid, but yes, we avoid idling. From the techs we have talked to the system needs high RPM's to operate properly and "regen" (clean) its self. I think MB says not to use more than 15% Bio and most diesel #2 is a bend of about 5%. But, we have seen it as high as 20%. Avoid that stuff! Also, most recommend to keep the DEF fluid full to keep the system working. We have had the check engine light on twice. Once we did $3000 in warranty work and the second it went out on its own....
Chris...love the TC hat! I've been in Wa. for 14 years and have yet to see a sub when I go over the Hood canal. Great choice on the rainforest! Ruby beach is awesome. May have to go out that way before we leave the area.

Ruby Beach, what memories of walking with my late wife, looking for shells, and watching starfish in the tidal pools. Our oldest son, now 50, fell asleep in a pack on my back and missed the rainforest. He was about 1. ❤️ Thanks for dragging the old guy along.

Careful letting that diesel run out of fuel. Unlike gas engines, you will have to prime the fuel line. Anyway, great video. Fun adventures.
Good advice, I don't ever want to find out what it's like! That day wasn't too close as the gas light just came on prior to the station. I think there is 4 gallons in reserve left so roughly 60-70 miles. Thanks for watching!

Nice. This is our first diesel, but I have been around them in my auto career. We get asked a lot about the diesel Sprinter and it is totally worth it over a gas engine. Do you guys RV? What do you tow?
Irene Iron Travels I’m 2 years from retirement (25 years) police officer and I recently sold everything I own, bought a 5th Wheel and currently living in it to get a feel for things. My plans after retirement is to travel like you guys. I have been in my 5th wheel for 6 months and love it. Took a trip to Colorado early spring and man did I love that. So yea, I am just itching to get on the road. I wish I could of started this life style sooner, but, had to finish out this career first.

Crater Lake Area was another we found that didn't have much diesel. We were on fumes at one point there!

Any other tips about how to manage the cold in the AI? Do you use Insulated window inserts or a space heater? Do you cover the fantastic fan?

We are reviewing/testing an insulated window cover kit for heat, cold, and blackout from a small company called VanEssentils. amzn.to/2TFlN2g Love them so far! We haven't used the fan cover yet, but would in extreme cold. Which we try to avoid!
@@IreneIronTravels Thanks for the advice and links. My husband is nervous running a space heater while we sleep but I like the idea of saving propane when plugged in. We both like sleeping in the cold and have had a few night that dipped into to 40’s with no problem.....except wanting to get out from the blankets in the morning! 😜
I'm(Aaron) kinda weird about running the heater too and always turn it off when we are not in the coach. We tried a few different models and really love the Vornado. We set it upfront and it smoothly heats the coach. But, it is a night and day difference from the propane heater. Quite and comfortable! No more loud heat blast and then creeping cold from the windows. Hot in the kitchen, cold in the front and back. All of the cold comes from the windows, so our thermal curtains in the bedroom are also a game changer for us along with the front window kit.
that place will be put onto our bucket list.💜

Thanks, absolutely beautiful tour! Getting flashbacks! Lived in Seattle a year on temporary work assignment to train branch office manager. Company tried to make it permanent. No way! The air sometimes is so thick with moisture it’s wet, your hair looks like you’ve walked through a shower on the way to work. There is always clouds hiding the sun. I like the sun! I want to meet one person that has gotten a suntan in that area. I am from the Gulf of Mexico and it’s definitely not that humid and at least I can ‘see’ the sun. What’s going on in the nw today? I think these people are depressed. I still have Swedish friends (co-workers) there. Glad y’all got to see the beauty. Waiting in anticipation for your surprise.
It would be tough to live in Seattle permanently! Beautiful to visit, but we are like you, need that sunshine! 🌞 Gulf of Mexico sounds nice right about now!
