Shah consultants Poonam Shah Architect

Ms. Poonam Shah has more than 36 years of professional experience in the field of architecture, planning, landscaping and interior design. She has worked on several prestigious projects in Nepal, India and Canada from the planning to the detailed design and construction stages. On several projects, she has led multidisciplinary teams of architects and engineers for design and construction supervision of projects. She has worked on projects funded by Nepal Government, USAID, DANIDA, JICA and DFID.
Mrs. Shah has a Bachelors in Architecture from University of Roorkee, now IIT, Roorkee, India, where she was awarded a Gold Medal for her academic achievements. She has a Master’s degree in Architecture from University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada where she obtained the University of Toronto Open Master’s Fellowship.
Besides her architectural practice, Mrs. Shah has actively contributed to the development of the architectural profession. In Nepal, she was involved in the formulation of the Competition Guidelines for Architectural Projects, Professional Fee Guidelines and initiating the Women in Architecture group as Chair of Professional Practice Committee of Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA). She has been a member of UIA (International Union of Architects) Professional Practice Committee and has led the Task group for developing Guidelines for “Re-Building After Disaster”. She has been a proponent in preservation of traditional open spaces and development of new open spaces that are disappearing in the fast-urbanizing areas in Nepal.
