Hello, i have a Honda CrossTour 2014, got it yesterday. Will this work on it? Also, if there a way to update the firmware of the Operating System? It's super slow and laggy.
I have bought multiple 16 gig flash drives to update my Navi on 2018 cr v. I formatted, did everything to a t and when it comes to the Garmin express update it always says “something wrong could not update” on every flash drive. But I see there is an update it just won’t take on the flash drives. I used different brands and up to 32 gig and none will take
It is free for the first five years of ownership of the vehicle- then you pay. The interface is a complete kludge to program anyhow. I just use Google Maps / Waze, which is completely easy to program, and can be do e in comfort outside the car. I also have CarPlay on my Honda, so it can use the car display and audio.
I just realized this weekend after having my RTL for 2 months it doesn't have Navigation. That's ok because I use Android Auto with Waze or Google Maps almost everytime. But, I liked having navigation on my previous Ridgeline just in case.
Hi Lionel, Isn't it a shame that YM couldn't be bothered to include this information in his video!! As you'll have discovered by now, Honda only provide free updates for the first 5 years. Not sure of cost thereafter (via local dealer). Maybe someone can tell us if it's possible to replace Honda's Satnav software OR to bring up your phone's Satnav on your Honda screen?? 🤞
what honda models and years does this work on, it doesnt seem to work for 2017 honda fit, thier is no download from car options at all when the usb drive in in and going to the maps it just says no valid map files available, and need a key to unlock it for garmin express app.
I have a 2011 honda odyssey touring elite and I don't see device. Just settings, but it's holighted in Grey update what do I do. I don't want to pay 150 just to update this
You can see which version update you have. If you happen to catch what it was and what it is. I did do a quick check to confirm it’s good because my brother in law’s neighborhood didn’t show up earlier and now it’s there
Is the 2023 version avail for update yet for Honda? I tried to update this evening using this method and Garmin Connect said my maps are up to date with 2022. Thanks
one option is manually or if I remember correctly it will add a secondary map and then the system will see the newest version. Honestly can't remember more than that at this point. But easiest way is to just erase the file, add the Vehicles information on the USB and then log into the Garmin app. It will then see the vehicle and upload the latest firmware.

Does this upgrade make it easier to enter an address for directions? Or should I upgrade with a new system to cure my frustration when entering a new address because sometimes it won’t allow me to enter the building number to locate destination.
My home and my brother in laws homes are newly built homes and was not on the last years map. Once I updated the map both our addresses were available. Hope this helps. If the address/street was added within the last year it may not work but if it’s been over a year then I am confident it would work. I think they stated they added like 150k miles or road on this update.
My instructions say to use a FAT32 USB drive that is no smaller AND NO LARGER than 16gb..... but you seem to use a 32gb. Unfortunately, I've got nothing under 256gb ... so now need to run to (Walmart?) and find a 16gb. right?
I am using a 16gb usb. I wonder if you tried a bigger one what will happen? May be to big to read. Another option might be if you have like an old sd card and an additional sd card reader that you could plug in. 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for creating this guide. I tried this with my MacBook first with no success. Well at least the formatting of FAT32 on the Mac. Seems that the Ridgeline did not like that. I had to boot up my Windows machine to format the 32 GB SanDisk Cruzer USB 2.0 disk. I was then able to get the XML file to be put on the USB disk. My download of maps on the USB drive took about 20 minutes. Uploading maps to the Ridgeline another 15.
I think it’s because it only good for 5 years. Your right in that weird middle area where it’s maybe 5 or 6 years depending on how you look at it. 2016 model (5years) but a 2015 version (6 years). I would go to the dealership and see if they will upgrade it for you at no charge. Would be your last chance to do it for free and the upgrade is significant in terms of how much is added since 2015. Atleast 500k miles of newly added road I would bet. 2021 alone I think was like 120k additional map miles of road.
I got my God father's CRV when he died from Cancer this year. The map is horrible in this thing. When I started looking up how to update I noticed it is expensive. I have an external Garmin GPS that has lifetime updates so I was surprised the Honda CRV did not come with that. Annoying. So I started looking for a free update (as I remember when I used to have a TomTom you could get unofficial map updates that were many times regularly updated than the official maps were) but with CRV I cannot find any. I came across your video as it came in the search results but I have no idea when my dead God father / uncle bought this CRV. I only know that it is a 2014. I feel silly having to use my old Garmin and ignoring the built in GPS but I am on disability in Canada and cannot afford such a high price just to update the GPS because of all the construction and road changes that have went on in the last year around here.
I went to the Garmin site and it has a list of cars that can receive free map updates but my 2019 Jazz is not among them and I am in the UK - do you think this would work for me?
Funny I just did that Sat night for my 2019 Ridgeline took about 40 mins total computer/car.. I wish my 2015 Odyssey had this I emailed Honda said 2021 edition would be out in next few months and $150 yuk
It’s the latest 2021 firmware release as stated. Not sure why it says 2019 I didn’t go back and look. I checked my address for my brand new neighborhood which was not on last years map and it showed up with this update so it must be newer than 2019. Maybe you didn’t update correctly? I’ll have to check my truck tomorrow morning and get back to you what mine says.
Any advice for cr-v 2007 model, cos that year they doesnt have usb port ?

My 2006 Legend has no USB fitted. Any advice towards an alternative.

Honda offers free updates for the first 5 years. The 2017 I believe are produced anywhere between 2016 and end of 2017. You may be out of warranty.

Where does it show the version level?
You have to keep the car idling for the update???
Or on Accessory. But yes, the head unit must be on. It's kind of annoying, especially if an update attempt fails.

Mine keeps failing during the map installing portion. Sometimes at 32% other times at 66%. I used a 16GB LEXAR flash drive, formated FAT32.
That is very weird. I am using 32gb Chinese knock off. Not sure though why yours would not work.

Probably not. You get free update for 4 or 5 years after that you would have to pay probably to have dealership do it or through the site.

I have a 2016 Pilot Touring and I did those steps, but it won't update to the latest version. It's just happy with 2015

I went to check and it’s taking me to only US Honda site. So I can’t look into it. Says if the vehicle isn’t listed you should call their hotline.

I have done it 4 times now on my Ridgeline. Never ran into an issue. It’s very strange you are experiencing one.
