triggers are small rectangular(most of them) things with a sensor that touches a specific drumhead. most commonly used are the ones you put on your bass drum. they just take the signal from the drum when you hit it and send it further, just like a microphone, only that they don't transmit the natural sound of the drum, they transmit which sound you choose to transmit.(the sound you choose from a module you must purchase separately). They can make every hit sound the same, dynamically speaking.
Basically turning an acoustic drums into an electric one.. Just a bunch of fucking lies to watch those death metal drummers going insanely fast with triggers and without them they’re just lame..
dude his drumming is so god damn complicated and amazing, watch and see, one day hell be a great, like the next Chris Alder (DONT FUCKING SAY THAT CRHIS ALDER IS NOT A GOOD DRUMMER)
Really awesome drumming guy very very smooth playing Very good control with tempo Few drummers master that part require in music 🎶 of any sort you do it great guy
@josh0849 it was recorded at small city studios, a local california recording studio for a lot of hometown artists, Arts old band Azusa recorded a song there before, and i guess he just stayed in touch with the owner haha
@KarniTreeTones Defiantly a crash sound when he hits the china. More then likely they had him play it a few times to get different camera angles and only used one of the drum takes recorded audio.
interesting that Art Cruz chooses to play full leg motion at those faster longer term tempo's while also utilizing heel toe for his "faster double bass fills"
@joeydrums44 Its for studio/recording purposes. You will not find many metal records that don't benefit from the use of triggers now. Also, hate to inform you but, microphones can be used as triggers as well. And 90% of the time they are now, even if the samples are blended. Metal records have to be tight, and nobody is a machine.
I like the version of this song better, how it has the cute little keyboard in 3:41 during the double bass, the song I have doesn't have the keyboard at 3:41
@mudddflappp Just as a suggestion check out the Aquarian Superkick 1 head. It has a felt ring built into the back side of the batter head. Has a nice tone to it and eleminates most if not all the extra resonation that most ppl dont want with thier kicks, they have a nice thump to them.
this audio isn't even him playing. at 3:47 he's playing the china. then the sound switches to the filter china at 3:49 but his hand remains on the regular mb20 china. it happens again at 3:56 and 3:58
@LOLE1991KOVIN i thought triggers just make the drum(in this case bass drum)have an equal sound?like make each hit sound like it was hit with the same force each time?
Hey Mr. Cruz, i have a question. What pedal are those? And besides your kit looks really pro, is it easier for you playing Double with actually double bass than double pedal? Thanks
dude yeah.. haha i just wanted to ask what you think about these axis pedals because I use the demons and i hate them. looking to buy new pedals with direct drive...
@kelleyclip to me its not a very good habit i used to do it but that was because i was using not enough power from my ankles. try playing relaxed and mostly with ur ankles
Hey Art! I bought Trick dominators too but for me they feel very heavy :/ Am i just to weak and have to train more or are the beaters the problem i've seen that you changed them. ( i have these round metal beaters)
@Fuck1nMetal also, i wasnt comparing his stlye of drumming to Chris Adler, i was comparing the lasting impression and inspriation that i think he will one day give to musicians, to Chris Adler, who is considered a "great" of modern drummers, Arts still young, but hell soon be on all the same levels as all of the other greats
Lamb of God's new drummer. Please welcome him with open arms. He's gonna kick ass.
Agreed! Chris was an absolute beast LoG but i think this guy was the best replacement they couldve gone for!
And who would’ve guessed he’d be the new drummer for Lamb of God
Read my comment from 10 years ago haha
He was handpicked by chris to replace him.
@@johnstonedavis1792I need proof my guy 😂😂😂 that’s crazy if he did
A modern drummer who isn't obsessed with blast beats. And is creative. Count me in.
this dude is the only one that I´ve seen that does the heel toe technique as good as chris adler congrats!!!
Woah are you from the future?
Try John longstreth LoL

That was glorious, I loves Arts style.
This is how I remember him winds of plague was one of my favorite bands in highschool
Im not into death metal drumming, but this is very groovy. Awesome job.
its not death metal. death metal is screaming and blast beats.this i belive is a mix of scremo and hardcore metal i think. im no professio2
+Stephen Valdez It's deathcore. It's death metal and metalcore combined.
actually Winds of Plague is considered Melodic Death Metal.
+Remi Hansen no it's melodic deathcore
Anyway they kick ass
+Lover of life death metal do not have so many breakdowns
The quality of this video is so good that I cant believe its 11 yrs old
13
This guy someday will play with LoG.
He already does idiot
dude his drumming is so god damn complicated and amazing, watch and see, one day hell be a great, like the next Chris Alder (DONT FUCKING SAY THAT CRHIS ALDER IS NOT A GOOD DRUMMER)
Well..... how the tables have turned since this comment 😂
@@pjtruesdale16 He really did become the next Chris Adler. Literally 😂😂😂
This comment aged well
God damn......... I wish I could play as good as Art.
I can’t believe I’ve never heard this before! Cruz is a beast!
Can’t wait for Rockfest 2022!
12 years ago he was a beast… lol
YOUR GOOD DUDE...BRIGHT -TO THE POINT-AND STRONG...KEEP ON ROCKING KID...GOOD FOOT WORK...STAY BLESSED
Really awesome drumming guy very very smooth playing
Very good control with tempo
Few drummers master that part require in music 🎶 of any sort you do it great guy
His drumming is soooo gooooooood
Something about Trick pedals makes them look super smooth.
I love his hi-hat pedal!!! He has such mad skills on that thing ;)
What a baby face he had ❤
Bery nice n clear sound of drumming, what a foot speed
Still cannot figure out that double kick and changing speeds mid song. This was great to watch
The fill at @3:24
@blastbeatmark The reason is because the video was taken from about 3 takes. He played it a little different each time.
I would do anything for a drumless version of this song. It is beyond fun to play.
@josh0849 it was recorded at small city studios, a local california recording studio for a lot of hometown artists, Arts old band Azusa recorded a song there before, and i guess he just stayed in touch with the owner haha
@portnoyere It doesn't matter how big your foot is if you're doing it right. Any pedal that you can do heel up on, you can do heel toe on.
@MaggotMuncher96 They are his signature pedals.Watch the video of his kit breakdown he mentions the brand name there.
Now I know why Lamb Of Guy picked Art up. This dude is incredible.
@KarniTreeTones Defiantly a crash sound when he hits the china. More then likely they had him play it a few times to get different camera angles and only used one of the drum takes recorded audio.
great drummer. drums sound great, triggers and all
What do you mean triggers
evan drumheads with aquarian kick heads
I am buying these pedals. Cant wait for them to arrive :D
What are they
art puts the time in and reaps the rewards what band is he in now?
Kick ass set there
interesting that Art Cruz chooses to play full leg motion at those faster longer term tempo's while also utilizing heel toe for his "faster double bass fills"
damn so clean! I wanna play on those bass drums so bad !! I kinda hear that they have a nice feeling to hit!
Beast mode
Art you way too good of a drummer. Too good. I must admit.
@joeydrums44 Its for studio/recording purposes. You will not find many metal records that don't benefit from the use of triggers now.

oh, i love double bass drum
Is that snare tone natty? It's killer bro
My foot does it too!! People call me nuts! That's awesome
Baby faced Art killing it....
I like the version of this song better, how it has the cute little keyboard in 3:41 during the double bass, the song I have doesn't have the keyboard at 3:41
3:50 Magic switch of the chinas...
how far back do you keep your beaters from the basshead? and how tight do you keep your spring on the dominators
This Video was recorded @ small city studios. If you interested in recording, mixing or mastering audio check it out! Thanks
dang some serious drumming!!
What an amazing beast omg
Dudes a beast
the pedal Art uses : Trick Dominator
I really like the meter-changes on the bassdrum.
@mudddflappp Just as a suggestion check out the Aquarian Superkick 1 head. It has a felt ring built into the back side of the batter head. Has a nice tone to it and eleminates most if not all the extra resonation that most ppl dont want with thier kicks, they have a nice thump to them.
between 310 and 312 is my favorite part of the drum beat
so clean
this audio isn't even him playing. at 3:47 he's playing the china. then the sound switches to the filter china at 3:49 but his hand remains on the regular mb20 china. it happens again at 3:56 and 3:58
@FermerMetal yes ddrum kick triggers
@LOLE1991KOVIN i thought triggers just make the drum(in this case bass drum)have an equal sound?like make each hit sound like it was hit with the same force each time?
that is such a nice set i would die to have that shit
thats some awsome stuff you do ayy
I like the sound of this better then the actual song.
ok thank you man.. I shall see what I can do!
Art teach us that blast beat at 3:05
Hey Mr. Cruz, i have a question. What pedal are those?
And besides your kit looks really pro, is it easier for you playing Double with actually double bass than double pedal? Thanks
Trick pedals check them out.
he has the two chinas i cant decide between, meinl mb20 or meinl byzance brilliant!
dude yeah.. haha i just wanted to ask what you think about these axis pedals because I use the demons and i hate them. looking to buy new pedals with direct drive...
Art, what bass pedals do you use?
@kelleyclip to me its not a very good habit i used to do it but that was because i was using not enough power from my ankles. try playing relaxed and mostly with ur ankles
@TheRadrussian1 thank you for making my point.
What is he doing close to the end at 4:41 when his left heel goes all the way up?
Ddrum triggers for the win \m/
Hey Art! I bought Trick dominators too but for me they feel very heavy :/ Am i just to weak and have to train more or are the beaters the problem i've seen that you changed them. ( i have these round metal beaters)
Maybe adjust the tension.
Every drummer got his way man lol
@Fuck1nMetal also, i wasnt comparing his stlye of drumming to Chris Adler, i was comparing the lasting impression and inspriation that i think he will one day give to musicians, to Chris Adler, who is considered a "great" of modern drummers, Arts still young, but hell soon be on all the same levels as all of the other greats
whats that pedal? .. btw nice one , extreme nice!
@kichermann Trick Dominator's. His signature model.
This drum set is incredibly attractive looking. Not a fan of this band, but the drummer is obviously very talented.
BEAST!!!
anybody can tell me the name of the full set of cymbals?
Hes fuckin awesome
are those pedals dominatora?
dat pedal work tho
this vid made me realize that i do the same but with both feet lol i never noticed me doing that
@DzeboVolodija It's called the flying fingers technique buddy :) look it up on youtube or on my channel I also explain it :)
@MrRichardluna are you a metal drummer?
Looks odd seeing him without the beard. Still badass
he uses the filter china upside down on purpose right?
@DrumDamage1 Trick dominators.
he makes it looks so easy..
are those bass drum triggers?
what's that shoes he's wearing????
Does wight matter on how fast u can play
the reason why they sound like that is because the drumheads must be tight for the triggers to pick the kicks up properly
What inch is your bass drum ?
what are your pedals?
Those are Trick Dominator pedals I believe.
dame fortuna yup they are
Dixon Bubinga "Behemoth " Snare?!
A Class Act
do u use axis pedals?
Play more songs i love how u play!
what kind of pedals do you use
