Bitsaeon was really great on Peak Time, too! I was really glad he bounced back on this performance after his first one wasn't his best. MONT was down a member on that show, but he and Roda were able to fill the stage with just the two of them competing against mostly much bigger groups.
This is why i LOVE Jay so much it's been a long time since I saw a singer who never get tired of singing, passionate, and who genuinely feel happy about their work and it's very beautiful to see. Idols, singers, or aspiring artists need to learn from Jay literally.

Jay and bitsaeon vs Wumti and Hayoon was amazing Television. I was on the edge of my seat. Gagged is the perfect way to describe it. I thought I was gonna see Jay get robbed again bc of what I'd heard but nope I wanted both of them to win. I was literally having a crisis. Jaw was on the floor, only thing I could say for like 20 minutes was wow. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS SHOW?!?!?

the line that got to me in falling was “what if im someone you won’t talk about” bc i think esp for that team through a queer lens but also just for everyone on this show, even though it’s not sold as being like peak time where these are people getting a second chance, these are still smaller, lesser known people, and for the non-idols, people we wouldn’t normally be exposed to, so the sentiment of doing this craft for your whole life but feeling like you won’t leave an impact, you won’t be the person people are talking about is so hard, and that’s another thing I appreciate the show so much for. they’re showing a whole range of singers from different places with different styles and giving them a platform so that their talent can be shown to the world, like sometimes I get so lost in the show it feels more like a celebration than a competition, and it makes me so grateful that these are people we are now talking about
Honestly, I did prefer dangerously but I feel like there was no loser for this one. Falling team made me almost cry too, but I'm just a sucker for growls/drive and I love jay's tone on this, also bitsaeon really surprised me. I do agree that falling team voices matched better tho. Anyways, 4 of them did really well, hope no one here gets eliminated.

So context to the performance with Donghun. He mentioned that when they tape the performance, he was really sick. He was so sick that after the their performance, he had to go to the hospital. You can tell he was not feeling well. He looks really pale
@@syaa2134Donghun sent messages about the whole situation on Bubble, he even sent us when this happened, a month ago, a picture after he got an IV shot because he was feeling worse, he was worried for upcoming Petflix filming with choice at that time, and after the last episode of build up he came on bubble he explained he was disappointed how he sounded because he was sick and having a flu.
Though, I preferred Dangerously over Falling, I wasnt that upset over the results. It was a 4 point difference. It was a win-win situation for the Dangerously and Falling team. Though, dangerously lost they went REALLY viral on TikTok and their performance has the most views on youtube by a LARGE margin. Falling team is safe from elimination and Dangerously team gained more popularity. So i think it worked out for everyone.

I think you would find it interesting to know that donghun goes to the same vocal trainer/coach as baekhyun from exo and onestar (the vocal coach from boys planet) which explains a lot of his technical ability because he actively works on it. Also as someone else noted he had the flu with an extremely high fever during the performance and recording which is why he was extra emotional and cried a lot.
I wanted to give both dangerously & falling teams 💯💯💯💯. I favored the dangerously performance because i felt the passion of that dangerous love & the entire room erupted in ecstasy when Jay did the killing part. The look of joy on his face after doing it was the moment that put that performance at the top for me. The Falling team was absolutely stunning too. Honestly, I thought the judges gave them the nod because it was a ballad. A ballad already lends itself to pulling on your heartstrings even before an unforgettable performance. It’s UNBELIEVABLE that Jay & Bit are up for elimination after delivering that kind of performance! 😮
Jay is always brilliant. Hayoon is a revelation, and Wumuti is a shocker. I had no idea that voice resided in that body. I had seen Bitsaeon and Jay's pre-PeakTime/pre-Boys Planet videos, so I wasn't surprised they picked each other. It's good when you sing with someone you can trust implicitly. I loved Dangerously, but Falling (a song I had not heard before this show) keeps running through my head. So gorgeous. P.S. I think Adam's sweater is giving Bitsaeon's from the first quartet competition.

I loved loved In Hwan's performance!! It was so deeply emotional and his voice felt like it filled the whole place. I could feel how much he adores singing and how desperate he was to show it.
i love hearing you guys articulate how you feel about and connect with the performers/performances and even more than that i love when you CAN'T articulate how strongly you feel about and connect with them because it's just THAT intense. the absolute physical pain that comes with trying to talk about that Dangerously vs Falling matchup is real and i agree - in a way, i'm glad these two performances were put against each other even though only one could 'win' because with a pair of performances so strong they feel like the only two on such an unfathomably high level that they can stand and be judged side by side. thanks for going over this show and the emotional rollercoaster of it all for those of us who can't! you've also reminded me how after boys planet i wrote jay a letter and told him how his obvious love of singing was so infectious that it even made me want to sing again after losing my spark for it in recent years. it's nice to know other people get the same feeling from him - perhaps i should write to him again soon ^^;

Honestly maybe it's because I'm more biased to Jay, but I prefered Dangerously 100%. It had not only emotion, and desperation through it all but offered me so much from a technical stand point. I'll always have a weakness for VOCALISTS, give me power, use all your vocal resources to show me what you are capable of. From the beginning to the end they told me an exhilarating story, they captivated me with their audacity. I never had any doubts that they gave their souls to the stage, to the song. They felt passion and that's all that I wanted from them.

Oh, this is going to be a long comment, but first, I gotta say that I just love so much the way that you express yourselves, you have this ability to say things that are on my mind that I never find the words to externalize(?) In a way that makes me feel comfort... rn in going through the process of coming to a new country, and no having friends or family that i can rely to really takes a toll on you emotionally but with your videos i feel seen?, like in my mind we are friends and we just sit here for an hour a day to talk music or whatever the video is about and just... lift me up fr. I was watching the livesteam at my desk at work, and when Jay&Bitsaeon finished performing I literally had to stand up and walk around cause I felt like.. there was this boiling well of energy at the center of my body, burning between my lungs. Heart pounding so hard I was probably shaking idek,. I suddenly felt like the office around me was unfamiliar and colorless,, and I just needed to Go Be There, in whatever other world i just glimpsed on that stage. and THEN. i sat back down in time for Wumuti&Hayun to perform, and then they-- sang? Singing seems too light of a word, like, that wasn't just singing. That was.. i think they dragged me somewhere else. I think I just sat in silence for a good half an hour afterwards. I could say a lot about other performances we've seen so far, and about the specific moments that randomly play behind my thoughts like background music. (eg.I keep hearing Jay's growl and Bitsaeon's high note, and WumutiHayun's layered "What am I now?" and Gwangseok's "aaaah" from last week.) But I want to thank you both so much for sharing how these performances spoke to each of you. I've been watching your reactions/reviews for over a year now, but this might be the first time i've commented? And it's because your reactions and commentary here resonated so deeply with me, and I wanted to agree with what you guys said about the primality of music. Performances like these, and our reactions to them, really cement the idea that music taps into the transcendent energy that weaves through and connects us all.

I met him through this program and I met Jay only weeks before this program started and I met him precisely because I was looking for covers of the song Falling. I understand your point and I really feel for him if he has been through that. , the cover was good, one of the best of the episode, it just didn't evoke those feelings of sadness in me, I liked it, what I meant was that possibly it didn't evoke those feelings in me because in my mind I already had Jay singing Falling (both covers are good but one generally gets deeper into what he heard first so the other cover came to me inconsistently while I was listening to it) Let it be clear that I am not throwing hate at him, since I started watching the program I always vote for wumuti as my third option because I like his voice, I really want him to debut together with Jay, the truth is that I don't understand why they play the villain to wumuti and they fight when the two boys are friends, they both deserved to win, personally I liked Jay's presentation more but unfortunately he couldn't, I see it more as if they were at my same level. The last battle...it has almost frustrated me. Hear me out, I am not a jay stan I didn't even watch boys planet but him and bit saeon did SUCH a good job with this song and I kinda disagree that they weren't emotionally connected to it. I think falling is just a better song to measure(?) emotional connection like you can just SEE it whereas for dangerous its not as accessible? anyways so I LOVED dangerously and then falling came on and I was honestly not blown away. No, I am the same way. I did not connect to the song emotionally at all... and I am queer and have struggled with a lot of things in the lyrics, but I just... I don't know. Maybe I've heard too much Adele or am in emotional ballad overload that it just didn't penetrate. I do think they objectively did well, but to me the Dangerous performance definitely stood out more to me. That said, I did love seeing Adam and RJ's reaction to this performance. I LOVE that you guys love these performances even if I don't always share the same opinions. Music is subjective and everyone experiences it differently and that is fine.
I felt the same way as you about Falling perfomance. Like, it was great, the vocals were great, the emotion was there, but it didn't blow me away, I didn't connect with it. I was like: okay, that was good. But Dangerously made me feel like I'm levitating. There was so much joy and passion in this perfomance, I was squeaking the whole time. It was THE ART. But to each their own I guess, we're all subjective.

It feels like others are connecting to Wumuti's struggles (especially if you watched Boy's Planet) and the emotions of that. When you are emotionally invested it can be hard to be objective, and it was a good performance. I totally agree that "Dangerously" was the better of the 2. edit: but also taste is subjective, so we can all like what we like, and I don't think there's a "wrong" answer with those 2 performances.
I love Wumuti since the love me right performance in Boys Planet, he was one of my top picks and i was genuinely sad when he got eliminated, but just watching him do what he loves and is also INCREDIBLE at it, makes me so happy. I indeed cried watching his performance i think he deserved that win so much.
Oh agreed!! I tuned into this show for Jay and I absolutely adore him and Bitsaeon. BUT the judges chose right I think. cause the Falling performance UGHHH GOD the emotion resonated with me so deeply. I cried when I listened to it for the first time. Theyre both amazing. ♡! Also I always rooted for Wumuti during BP :"( Although the only thing I sllllightly disagree with (even though for the most part I agree that Jay and Bitsaeon were like two powerful voices individually). For me personally, I think Jay choosing his friend that he's known for a long time was a really smart decision after seeing the stage. They both have a good understanding of eachother's strengths and imo that plays a big part in why this performance is so loved. That's just my personal view though! I noticed that they went back and fourth and equally gave eachother a lot of time to shine. And I'm not just talking about line distribution but even their own 'killing parts' yknoww Whenever they'd look at eachother and connect eyes every once and a while.. the way they harmonized uAGH IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY IT WAS SO GOOD they both look so happy on stage And I think that, if we compare Falling and Dangerously, the vibes are different if you really think about it. Message and lyric wise. "Dangerously"s vibe feels like desperately climbing up a rocky cliff, with self sacrifical determination even though the person at the top is most likely to push you off again. It's a really powerful and hard hitting song. While "Falling" although it may seem similar.. is literally like falling off of that cliff. Slowly and painfully taking all the hits and slowly accepting their fate. This sort of vibe and feeling really connects with people, so I think the song choice really helped bring them to that victory too. And ofc.. it's REALLY hard to sing with such raw emotion. The execution of the song was done extremely well. Both stages are so strong and I wouldn't change a thing about them. Just cause both team's creative vision was brought to life fantastically!
i feel like you guys should also read the translations for some of this songs bc ofc music transcends language but seeing the performance of end of a day (donghun, sunyoul) while also understanding the meaning of the lyrics is so powerful, something similar to what you went through with falling ig, end of a day has been for years a song for when you need comfort and me personally i consider that song a best friend bc it's always there for me when I need it and then after hearing their personal stories them choosing that song makes sooo much sense

What I also find so crazy is that in the first performance on Boys Planet, when Jay was the main vocal vs Hui, and Wumuti said "I can sing this part but I don't feel confident" and gave it to Jay, my first thought was like "you can sing this part?" because we LITERALLY never saw Wumuti sing that much, so I had NO IDEA he sounded like that!

I completely agree with you guys on dangerously vs falling. I think if Hayoon or Wumuti sang falling solo it maybe would’ve been one note, a bit lacking. But them together it becomes a masterpiece. They truly completed each other, like a puzzle piece. Wumuti’s control over his voice was incredible, delicate, emotional, just beautiful. Hayoon, is a freaking mitochondria, who cannot be stopped. I want an album from him yesterday dang it. Just so good. A perfect duet. Jay will be absolutely fine. I think this was an excellent performance of his, bitsaeon did very very well. But like Adam said it felt like two separate performances. And personally I think only the highlight (jays literally singing the line desperately) made me feel the desperation that the song was meant to show. But to be fair I felt more listening to them than when Charlie sings it so that’s a plus.
I love Bitsaeon & Jay, but oh my God istg sometimes it’s so hard to deal with the toxic Jay’s fans, these fans actually blame saeon for the loss saying he’s not good enough for Jay..??? I feel like I will never again feel the intense emotion that was Jay and Wumuti's battle. First I didn't want them to be against each other, then I feared for Wumuti when Jay left everyone breathless, and then I feared for Jay when Wumuti drew emotions from everyone with his sensational performance. When the results came out I thought it could be different, but as the day went on I understood that the emotions that stages convey are so different that if I were a judge I would be in trouble but in a way I got used to Wumuti's victory and how much His performance was moving. I understand that Jay's performance is breathtaking, I've had that specific part of the song in my head for a week now, but I believe that the combination of the Wumuti duo nailed it. I've followed Jay since BP and I love how passionate he is about music and always delivers his best, so I believe he won't be eliminated from the program anytime soon
They showed the 693 to 697 points when they were explaining the rules in the beginning, so when they showed jays and bitsaeons score me and my friend were like adding up what was given and were like: “so they’re not the 697. so it’s gonna be another battle.” and then while Wumuti and Hayoon were singing we were like: “EXCEPT. Could it be? Naahhh jays not gonna loose.” And then he did 😅

I am a Jay stan but I didn't mind them losing. Because I love Wumuti and his team took me by surprise the most. On a technical level I think Dangerously was better. But Falling just took my breath away. And the fact that they went last, almost sure to lose and they still managed to serve and conquer was truly outstanding. This battle was ridiculously good to the point where I was like "Well, make them debut the four of them, we have our winners !".

It is indeed splitting hairs who should have won. Probably best would have been a tie. I get really pissed with people who for whatever reason can’t or won’t see the true deep impact and art in this performance. Hayoon as soon as he opened his mouth had me in tears. I love Jay and am voting for him but little Hayoon is sweeping me away. He is the Korean male Adele❤️Vote for Hayoon he NEEDS to stay in this competition!!
Kinda disappointed because I feel like Jay & Bitsaeon should have won. I am definitely a Jay fan. So I will admit that maybe my bias plays a role on why i think that. But I also have to point out, do you guys think if Wumuti and Hayoon performed 1st and Jay & Bitsaeon 2nd that the judges might have scored differently? I felt like emotional judgement played a BIG role in the scoring. 1 being that Wumuti cried at the end. And 2 that they hit back w/ an emotional song & did amazingly (not saying it wasn't good because it was) but for me the whole "underdogs" (and i say underdog lightly just because it seems like from the beginning the show has painted Jay to be top tier) giving the unexpected-emotionally filled performance after a very dramatic Dangerously performance added a few points. Anyways, i love your guys reaction. Looking forward to the next episode.

My personal thoughts "Sherlock vs End of Day" I agree the first song was not dynamic, Jae Up and Suwhan have great voices but the song and production choices were not the best. They have amazing talent but maybe should have picked a different song or arrangement. I definitely preferred End of Day, it was simple but solid and don't get Jaehwan critique of Donghun. Donghun did later say he was sick that day, so maybe the judges heard something I didn't? Not sure. "Hmm Cheat vs Take Me Back In Time" here I disagree, I actually felt Seunghan did not jel the best with NEON. I love Seunghan in CIX but his singing seemed a bit nasal (?) or maybe trying a bit too hard to blend with NEONs tone. I'm glad they had fun, but I wasn't totally feeling this performance. Take Me Back In Time, I thought was great. The Church oppars were giving, especially Inhwan! xD I did think Jaekyung blended a bit into the background, but for whatever reason I wasn't as bothered by that. "Dangerously vs Falling" I struggled connecting to Falling, I think Wumuti and Hayoon did great but I think Dangerously just hit different. I loved the blending, the riffs, the runs, the showmanship; I could feel the passion for singing in Dangerously. Jay and Bitsaeon have worked together for a long time and it shows. Wumuti and Hayoon I applaud for finding a groove so quickly in a competition show, that is not an easy thing to do, I do wish Wumuti stood out a bit more here. With Jay and Bitsaeon, Jay had the growls and husky soul voice but Bitsaeon I think actually had the edge in his range and higher notes so it felt more evenly balanced to me. Music is so subjective and it's totally ok to have different interpretations and reactions to music. I think for a lot of fans it's important to remember that, especially in competitions. I am just so happy to see you guys having the time of your lives with this vocal competition. I can feel the giddiness through the screen and it's amazing.

I feel like Mnet really wanted Wumuti to make it far in Boys Planet (not necessarily to debut but to at least make it to the finale), like you can see it from the way they edit his storyline after Love Me Right. Now that he’s in Build Up, I think they’re really gonna push him to make it far and hopefully debut in the final line up (which is fine because I love Wumuti and like he’s definitely got the talent to back it up.)
IMO as someone who also loves musical theater, has some musical theater experiences, and was trained vocally as well, Falling performance was just a good cover unfortunately. They did not own the song. Nothing stood out from the performance for me.The arrangement was so safe and monotonous, even the harmonies are the same as those of Mr. Styles' back up vocalists during his live performance. Yes. I agree that they sang the song beautifully, and I was rooting and even voting for them because they're Jay's Besties. But, It's still a competition, and singing very similar to the original version without changing anything or building it up is boring. They relied so much on their voices and basic singing skills, which I think should be a given. RJ even said that Hayoon did not need to emote, it's just his voice working for him. But for me, it's just lazy singing/performance (he almost sang how he sang in his For You performance). I did not feel anything. Their Falling version was like a desert that looks good because of the colors (their unique voices), but it tastes bland (underwhelming 'cause the arrangement is just meh). There's no innovation. It didnt go anywhere. Im sorry, I know the song so much and heard a lot of cover like of the legendary Kelly Clarkson. The song is very repetitive, and not a good song choice to be used in a competion, unless you innovate or change the arrangement. In conclusion, it's Kelly Clarkson fault's haha. Also talking about the scoring system, my brain is malfunctioing, because 5 of the judges gave fulll points, when I thought Inhwan's team did better (if we are comparing similar genre). So now, Falling has become the benchmark of a perfect stage performance? Really, that was the standard?? I remember when I was watching peak time and the judges gagged at the winner's performance, but only one judge gave a full point. Since Mnet let the teams choose their own songs regardless of genre, they should have set criteria for judging to make the judging more objective, especially 100 pts were huge.
I was really happy with this episode since everyone that I'm voting for all performed. I really don't know how they're planning on fitting in all the performances and the elimination (at least the start of it according to the latest teaser) all in one episode. Are we speed running through the bts on some of those performances? There are an awful lot of contestants performing next week that I feel like I wouldn't be able to pick out of a lineup quite yet. I agree that their singing in "Sherlock" sounded great but the arrangement was not terribly interesting. "End of a Day" was more interesting to listen to but I felt like it was missing a highlight moment. I feel like all the songs that Mnet picks has at least one part where the vocalist gets to show off so that they can repeat it a million times. I feel like that hurt their score a bit. Regarding "Hmm-cheat," I though we all agreed we didn't want to see a two step in this show? 😂Neon's voice really fit that song, but I'm not sure Seunghun's did. Also, is it just me or is Seunghun being set up for a polarizing edit? First he picked a stronger contestant from his team for low tier, then that whole bit about purposely picking a weak team. "Take Me Back in Time" was well done, but also didn't do much for me personally. I was not moved by it the way I was with "Don't Go, Don't Go." "Dangerously" and "Falling" were definitely my favorite performances for this episode. I might give the edge to "Dangerously" because I loved the way they rearranged the song, but it's honestly too close to call. Wumuti also really surprised me this episode because I had also written him off after he picked "Ditto." The trainee vs debuted idols they teased at the end could either turn surprisingly great for both or a complete disaster for at least one team. I can't decide if Mnet wants to start the episode off strong to build off the momentum from this one or to be the start of full-on drama.
Not to be a hater but I'm so glad Jay didn't debut in Boys Planet. If he managed to sneak in at 9th place by beating Yujin, people for sure wouldn't leave him alone. That fandom was and still toxic af. And he wouldn't get the opportunity to showcase his full ability and prove that he deserves everything and more bc of his talent, not that he's a pick in Produce 101 reincarnated show.

Popularity wins over pure artistry. I loved Dangerously as well and didn’t think anything could top it but Falling is just sublime. I love love love little Hayoon and I agree with RJ and Adam he is the Korean male Adele.
My problem with the judge is, that they put personal taste in. The first 2vs2 i have no problem with the outcome, but with the numbers and the explanation. Sherlock wasn't for me. I understand the criticism (75) like that: Because he go for the emotion, he sounded less stable. So more technique and less emotion. And i think you shouldn't chose between the two.

I love Build Up so so much I don’t know how many times I’ve cried watching it and it’s only ep 3!!!! That Wumuti & Hayoon’s performance is God sent, it is holy, it is a revelation, it is one of the best survival show stage I’ve ever watched if not the best. I used to be a Jay’s fan but the way some of his fans move here and on X oh lord it’s just not worth it. Bitsaeon is really good I am truly surprised. As good as the contestants are, I do have a huge problem with this show in that they are not up-front about their rules. How the teams are formed, how elimination works, how the fan voting will impact, they don't tell you anything until the last minute and they are not disclosing how many votes there are. It feels extremely shady and dishonest, they can pretty much wait for the results and then make up whatever rules they want this way, I don't feel good about it.

Bitsaeon was really great on Peak Time, too! I was really glad he bounced back on this performance after his first one wasn't his best. MONT was down a member on that show, but he and Roda were able to fill the stage with just the two of them competing against mostly much bigger groups.
This is why i LOVE Jay so much it's been a long time since I saw a singer who never get tired of singing, passionate, and who genuinely feel happy about their work and it's very beautiful to see. Idols, singers, or aspiring artists need to learn from Jay literally.

the line that got to me in falling was “what if im someone you won’t talk about” bc i think esp for that team through a queer lens but also just for everyone on this show, even though it’s not sold as being like peak time where these are people getting a second chance, these are still smaller, lesser known people, and for the non-idols, people we wouldn’t normally be exposed to, so the sentiment of doing this craft for your whole life but feeling like you won’t leave an impact, you won’t be the person people are talking about is so hard, and that’s another thing I appreciate the show so much for. they’re showing a whole range of singers from different places with different styles and giving them a platform so that their talent can be shown to the world, like sometimes I get so lost in the show it feels more like a celebration than a competition, and it makes me so grateful that these are people we are now talking about

Honestly, I did prefer dangerously but I feel like there was no loser for this one. Falling team made me almost cry too, but I'm just a sucker for growls/drive and I love jay's tone on this, also bitsaeon really surprised me. I do agree that falling team voices matched better tho. I think you would find it interesting to know that donghun goes to the same vocal trainer/coach as baekhyun from exo and onestar (the vocal coach from boys planet) which explains a lot of his technical ability because he actively works on it. Also as someone else noted he had the flu with an extremely high fever during the performance and recording which is why he was extra emotional and cried a lot.
I wanted to give both dangerously & falling teams 💯💯💯💯. I favored the dangerously performance because i felt the passion of that dangerous love & the entire room erupted in ecstasy when Jay did the killing part. The look of joy on his face after doing it was the moment that put that performance at the top for me. The Falling team was absolutely stunning too. Honestly, I thought the judges gave them the nod because it was a ballad. A ballad already lends itself to pulling on your heartstrings even before an unforgettable performance. It’s UNBELIEVABLE that Jay & Bit are up for elimination after delivering that kind of performance! 😮
Jay is always brilliant. Hayoon is a revelation, and Wumuti is a shocker. I had no idea that voice resided in that body. I had seen Bitsaeon and Jay's pre-PeakTime/pre-Boys Planet videos, so I wasn't surprised they picked each other. It's good when you sing with someone you can trust implicitly. I loved Dangerously, but Falling (a song I had not heard before this show) keeps running through my head. So gorgeous. P.S. I think Adam's sweater is giving Bitsaeon's from the first quartet competition.

Honestly maybe it's because I'm more biased to Jay, but I prefered Dangerously 100%. It had not only emotion, and desperation through it all but offered me so much from a technical stand point. I'll always have a weakness for VOCALISTS, give me power, use all your vocal resources to show me what you are capable of. From the beginning to the end they told me an exhilarating story, they captivated me with their audacity. I never had any doubts that they gave their souls to the stage, to the song. They felt passion and that's all that I wanted from them.
I love listening to you recap this show, I was feeling overwhelmed otherwise I would have watched you watching the show also, but I call Donghun the "sad otter" because his eyes always look like he is sad, and Ace did a Halloween dance where they wore animal onsies and Donghun was an otter, and he will forever be a sad otter to me.

Oh, this is going to be a long comment, but first, I gotta say that I just love so much the way that you express yourselves, you have this ability to say things that are on my mind that I never find the words to externalize(?) In a way that makes me feel comfort... rn in going through the process of coming to a new country, and no having friends or family that i can rely to really takes a toll on you emotionally but with your videos i feel seen?, like in my mind we are friends and we just sit here for an hour a day to talk music or whatever the video is about and just... lift me up fr.

I was watching the livesteam at my desk at work, and when Jay&Bitsaeon finished performing I literally had to stand up and walk around cause I felt like.. there was this boiling well of energy at the center of my body, burning between my lungs. Heart pounding so hard I was probably shaking idek,. I suddenly felt like the office around me was unfamiliar and colorless,, and I just needed to Go Be There, in whatever other world i just glimpsed on that stage. and THEN. i sat back down in time for Wumuti&Hayun to perform, and then they-- sang? Singing seems too light of a word, like, that wasn't just singing. That was.. i think they dragged me somewhere else. I think I just sat in silence for a good half an hour afterwards.
I could say a lot about other performances we've seen so far, and about the specific moments that randomly play behind my thoughts like background music. (eg.I keep hearing Jay's growl and Bitsaeon's high note, and WumutiHayun's layered "What am I now?" and Gwangseok's "aaaah" from last week.)
But I want to thank you both so much for sharing how these performances spoke to each of you. I've been watching your reactions/reviews for over a year now, but this might be the first time i've commented? And it's because your reactions and commentary here resonated so deeply with me, and I wanted to agree with what you guys said about the primality of music. Performances like these, and our reactions to them, really cement the idea that music taps into the transcendent energy that weaves through and connects us all.
sorry I’m continuing this watch lol, at the end of the day I’m not mad about jay and bitsaeon losing (though they deserved more 100’s hehe). I think with how viral the performance has gotten on tiktok it seems like everyone won with that 2v2. I’m pretty confident jay is not leaving anytime soon so it’s all good

Like i see alot of people say they voted higher because he cried etc...
But in wumuti you can hear the emotion and the desperation to debut

Like idk him personally but he has really struggled alot

He still went to stages to support them
Like this kid is best friends with rocky close with moonbin
He still went to boys planet finale which happened the day after his passing and he was grieving he was literally crying but he still attended because his friends were debuting

Singing sometimes is not about how high you can sing wumuti range is a bit high too you can hear his sugarcoat cover too
He could've sang this very differently
But here he chose a breathy technique which is very difficult

I met him through this program and I met Jay only weeks before this program started and I met him precisely because I was looking for covers of the song Falling. I understand your point and I really feel for him if he has been through that. , the cover was good, one of the best of the episode, it just didn't evoke those feelings of sadness in me, I liked it, what I meant was that possibly it didn't evoke those feelings in me because in my mind I already had Jay singing Falling (both covers are good but one generally gets deeper into what he heard first so the other cover came to me inconsistently while I was listening to it)
Let it be clear that I am not throwing hate at him, since I started watching the program I always vote for wumuti as my third option because I like his voice, I really want him to debut together with Jay, the truth is that I don't understand why they play the villain to wumuti and they fight when the two boys are friends, they both deserved to win, personally I liked Jay's presentation more but unfortunately he couldn't, I see it more as if they were at my same level.
And what I was referring to was that they may have gotten a high score even without crying because they sang it very, very well, but the crying also played a role in making the presentation more emotional since it was an explosion of their feelings and For inexperienced judges it may be a weak point (I clarify, I am not saying what happened nor am I saying that they won because of that, I can only assume based on experiences) I apologize if perhaps in my previous comment I misunderstood.

The last battle...it has almost frustrated me. Hear me out, I am not a jay stan I didn't even watch boys planet but him and bit saeon did SUCH a good job with this song and I kinda disagree that they weren't emotionally connected to it. I think falling is just a better song to measure(?) emotional connection like you can just SEE it whereas for dangerous its not as accessible? anyways so I LOVED dangerously and then falling came on and I was honestly not blown away. But this is the frustrating part, it seems like I am the only one who missed something? Like these TALENETD ppl on the judging panel kept going on and on and gave so many 100s and then now seeing the way you two talked about it I am just like "WHAT AM I MISSING???" No, I am the same way. I did not connect to the song emotionally at all... and I am queer and have struggled with a lot of things in the lyrics, but I just... I don't know. Maybe I've heard too much Adele or am in emotional ballad overload that it just didn't penetrate. I do think they objectively did well, but to me the Dangerous performance definitely stood out more to me.
That said, I did love seeing Adam and RJ's reaction to this performance. I LOVE that you guys love these performances even if I don't always share the same opinions. Music is subjective and everyone experiences it differently and that is fine.
I felt the same way as you about Falling perfomance. Like, it was great, the vocals were great, the emotion was there, but it didn't blow me away, I didn't connect with it. I was like: okay, that was good. But Dangerously made me feel like I'm levitating. There was so much joy and passion in this perfomance, I was squeaking the whole time. It was THE ART. But to each their own I guess, we're all subjective.

Same! Again not to take anything away frm the Falling performance, bc thats insanely incredible too. BUT Jay and Bitsaeon were... i cant even describe it, i literally cried watching it for the first few times.
It feels like others are connecting to Wumuti's struggles (especially if you watched Boy's Planet) and the emotions of that. When you are emotionally invested it can be hard to be objective, and it was a good performance. I totally agree that "Dangerously" was the better of the 2.
edit: but also taste is subjective, so we can all like what we like, and I don't think there's a "wrong" answer with those 2 performances.
I love Wumuti since the love me right performance in Boys Planet, he was one of my top picks and i was genuinely sad when he got eliminated, but just watching him do what he loves and is also INCREDIBLE at it, makes me so happy. I indeed cried watching his performance i think he deserved that win so much.

Although the only thing I sllllightly disagree with (even though for the most part I agree that Jay and Bitsaeon were like two powerful voices individually). For me personally, I think Jay choosing his friend that he's known for a long time was a really smart decision after seeing the stage. They both have a good understanding of eachother's strengths and imo that plays a big part in why this performance is so loved. That's just my personal view though!
I noticed that they went back and fourth and equally gave eachother a lot of time to shine. And I'm not just talking about line distribution but even their own 'killing parts' yknoww
Whenever they'd look at eachother and connect eyes every once and a while.. the way they harmonized uAGH IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY IT WAS SO GOOD they both look so happy on stage
And I think that, if we compare Falling and Dangerously, the vibes are different if you really think about it. Message and lyric wise.
"Dangerously"s vibe feels like desperately climbing up a rocky cliff, with self sacrifical determination even though the person at the top is most likely to push you off again. It's a really powerful and hard hitting song.
While "Falling" although it may seem similar.. is literally like falling off of that cliff. Slowly and painfully taking all the hits and slowly accepting their fate. This sort of vibe and feeling really connects with people, so I think the song choice really helped bring them to that victory too.
And ofc.. it's REALLY hard to sing with such raw emotion. The execution of the song was done extremely well.
Both stages are so strong and I wouldn't change a thing about them. Just cause both team's creative vision was brought to life fantastically!

i feel like you guys should also read the translations for some of this songs bc ofc music transcends language but seeing the performance of end of a day (donghun, sunyoul) while also understanding the meaning of the lyrics is so powerful, something similar to what you went through with falling ig, end of a day has been for years a song for when you need comfort and me personally i consider that song a best friend bc it's always there for me when I need it and then after hearing their personal stories them choosing that song makes sooo much sense
I think I've watched falling at least 3 dozen times now and I still get goosebumps each and every time. I was waiting all week for your reactions and you did not disappoint! ❤
What I also find so crazy is that in the first performance on Boys Planet, when Jay was the main vocal vs Hui, and Wumuti said "I can sing this part but I don't feel confident" and gave it to Jay, my first thought was like "you can sing this part?" because we LITERALLY never saw Wumuti sing that much, so I had NO IDEA he sounded like that!

I think if Hayoon or Wumuti sang falling solo it maybe would’ve been one note, a bit lacking. But them together it becomes a masterpiece. They truly completed each other, like a puzzle piece. Wumuti’s control over his voice was incredible, delicate, emotional, just beautiful. Hayoon, is a freaking mitochondria, who cannot be stopped. I want an album from him yesterday dang it. Just so good. A perfect duet.
Jay will be absolutely fine. I think this was an excellent performance of his, bitsaeon did very very well. But like Adam said it felt like two separate performances. And personally I think only the highlight (jays literally singing the line desperately) made me feel the desperation that the song was meant to show. But to be fair I felt more listening to them than when Charlie sings it so that’s a plus.

We had the same thought with Jay & the partner. I think although the other guy had amazing vocals and was amazing in his own way jays vocals and his weren’t fully meshed
Also, regarding Donghun, Jaehwan was taking about him being too focused on the emotion that it affected the way he sang. I feel like I will never again feel the intense emotion that was Jay and Wumuti's battle.
First I didn't want them to be against each other, then I feared for Wumuti when Jay left everyone breathless, and then I feared for Jay when Wumuti drew emotions from everyone with his sensational performance.
When the results came out I thought it could be different, but as the day went on I understood that the emotions that stages convey are so different that if I were a judge I would be in trouble but in a way I got used to Wumuti's victory and how much His performance was moving.
I understand that Jay's performance is breathtaking, I've had that specific part of the song in my head for a week now, but I believe that the combination of the Wumuti duo nailed it. I've followed Jay since BP and I love how passionate he is about music and always delivers his best, so I believe he won't be eliminated from the program anytime soon

They showed the 693 to 697 points when they were explaining the rules in the beginning, so when they showed jays and bitsaeons score me and my friend were like adding up what was given and were like: “so they’re not the 697. so it’s gonna be another battle.” and then while Wumuti and Hayoon were singing we were like: “EXCEPT. Could it be? Naahhh jays not gonna loose.” And then he did 😅

I am a Jay stan but I didn't mind them losing. Because I love Wumuti and his team took me by surprise the most. On a technical level I think Dangerously was better. But Falling just took my breath away. And the fact that they went last, almost sure to lose and they still managed to serve and conquer was truly outstanding. This battle was ridiculously good to the point where I was like "Well, make them debut the four of them, we have our winners !".
Wumuti and Hayoon's performance was the culture that made me say culture was for me

Thank you, Thank you for encapsulating my feelings about the Falling performance. It was indeed truly magical and miraculous coming after another truly great performance with Dangerously. It is indeed splitting hairs who should have won. Probably best would have been a tie. I get really pissed with people who for whatever reason can’t or won’t see the true deep impact and art in this performance. Hayoon as soon as he opened his mouth had me in tears. I love Jay and am voting for him but little Hayoon is sweeping me away. He is the Korean male Adele❤️Vote for Hayoon he NEEDS to stay in this competition!!
Kinda disappointed because I feel like Jay & Bitsaeon should have won. I am definitely a Jay fan. So I will admit that maybe my bias plays a role on why i think that.
But I also have to point out, do you guys think if Wumuti and Hayoon performed 1st and Jay & Bitsaeon 2nd that the judges might have scored differently? I felt like emotional judgement played a BIG role in the scoring. 1 being that Wumuti cried at the end. And 2 that they hit back w/ an emotional song & did amazingly (not saying it wasn't good because it was) but for me the whole "underdogs" (and i say underdog lightly just because it seems like from the beginning the show has painted Jay to be top tier) giving the unexpected-emotionally filled performance after a very dramatic Dangerously performance added a few points.
Anyways, i love your guys reaction. Looking forward to the next episode.

My personal thoughts
"Sherlock vs End of Day" I agree the first song was not dynamic, Jae Up and Suwhan have great voices but the song and production choices were not the best. They have amazing talent but maybe should have picked a different song or arrangement. I definitely preferred End of Day, it was simple but solid and don't get Jaehwan critique of Donghun. Donghun did later say he was sick that day, so maybe the judges heard something I didn't? Not sure.
"Hmm Cheat vs Take Me Back In Time" here I disagree, I actually felt Seunghan did not jel the best with NEON. I love Seunghan in CIX but his singing seemed a bit nasal (?) or maybe trying a bit too hard to blend with NEONs tone. I'm glad they had fun, but I wasn't totally feeling this performance. Take Me Back In Time, I thought was great. The Church oppars were giving, especially Inhwan! xD I did think Jaekyung blended a bit into the background, but for whatever reason I wasn't as bothered by that.
"Dangerously vs Falling" I struggled connecting to Falling, I think Wumuti and Hayoon did great but I think Dangerously just hit different. I loved the blending, the riffs, the runs, the showmanship; I could feel the passion for singing in Dangerously. Jay and Bitsaeon have worked together for a long time and it shows. Wumuti and Hayoon I applaud for finding a groove so quickly in a competition show, that is not an easy thing to do, I do wish Wumuti stood out a bit more here. With Jay and Bitsaeon, Jay had the growls and husky soul voice but Bitsaeon I think actually had the edge in his range and higher notes so it felt more evenly balanced to me.
Music is so subjective and it's totally ok to have different interpretations and reactions to music. I think for a lot of fans it's important to remember that, especially in competitions.
I am just so happy to see you guys having the time of your lives with this vocal competition. I can feel the giddiness through the screen and it's amazing.

I feel like Mnet really wanted Wumuti to make it far in Boys Planet (not necessarily to debut but to at least make it to the finale), like you can see it from the way they edit his storyline after Love Me Right. Now that he’s in Build Up, I think they’re really gonna push him to make it far and hopefully debut in the final line up (which is fine because I love Wumuti and like he’s definitely got the talent to back it up.)
IMO as someone who also loves musical theater, has some musical theater experiences, and was trained vocally as well, Falling performance was just a good cover unfortunately. They did not own the song. Nothing stood out from the performance for me.The arrangement was so safe and monotonous, even the harmonies are the same as those of Mr. Styles' back up vocalists during his live performance.
Yes. I agree that they sang the song beautifully, and I was rooting and even voting for them because they're Jay's Besties. But, It's still a competition, and singing very similar to the original version without changing anything or building it up is boring. They relied so much on their voices and basic singing skills, which I think should be a given. RJ even said that Hayoon did not need to emote, it's just his voice working for him. But for me, it's just lazy singing/performance (he almost sang how he sang in his For You performance). I did not feel anything. Their Falling version was like a desert that looks good because of the colors (their unique voices), but it tastes bland (underwhelming 'cause the arrangement is just meh). There's no innovation. It didnt go anywhere. Im sorry, I know the song so much and heard a lot of cover like of the legendary Kelly Clarkson. The song is very repetitive, and not a good song choice to be used in a competion, unless you innovate or change the arrangement. In conclusion, it's Kelly Clarkson fault's haha.
Also talking about the scoring system, my brain is malfunctioing, because 5 of the judges gave fulll points, when I thought Inhwan's team did better (if we are comparing similar genre). So now, Falling has become the benchmark of a perfect stage performance? Really, that was the standard?? I remember when I was watching peak time and the judges gagged at the winner's performance, but only one judge gave a full point. Since Mnet let the teams choose their own songs regardless of genre, they should have set criteria for judging to make the judging more objective, especially 100 pts were huge.
I was really happy with this episode since everyone that I'm voting for all performed. I really don't know how they're planning on fitting in all the performances and the elimination (at least the start of it according to the latest teaser) all in one episode. Are we speed running through the bts on some of those performances? There are an awful lot of contestants performing next week that I feel like I wouldn't be able to pick out of a lineup quite yet.
I agree that their singing in "Sherlock" sounded great but the arrangement was not terribly interesting. "End of a Day" was more interesting to listen to but I felt like it was missing a highlight moment. I feel like all the songs that Mnet picks has at least one part where the vocalist gets to show off so that they can repeat it a million times. I feel like that hurt their score a bit.
Regarding "Hmm-cheat," I though we all agreed we didn't want to see a two step in this show? 😂Neon's voice really fit that song, but I'm not sure Seunghun's did. Also, is it just me or is Seunghun being set up for a polarizing edit? First he picked a stronger contestant from his team for low tier, then that whole bit about purposely picking a weak team. "Take Me Back in Time" was well done, but also didn't do much for me personally. I was not moved by it the way I was with "Don't Go, Don't Go."
"Dangerously" and "Falling" were definitely my favorite performances for this episode. I might give the edge to "Dangerously" because I loved the way they rearranged the song, but it's honestly too close to call. Wumuti also really surprised me this episode because I had also written him off after he picked "Ditto."
The trainee vs debuted idols they teased at the end could either turn surprisingly great for both or a complete disaster for at least one team. I can't decide if Mnet wants to start the episode off strong to build off the momentum from this one or to be the start of full-on drama.

Not to be a hater but I'm so glad Jay didn't debut in Boys Planet. If he managed to sneak in at 9th place by beating Yujin, people for sure wouldn't leave him alone. That fandom was and still toxic af. So at first i really loved jays version like its really just so beautiful but then when i heard noah and the original it had this emotionalness that for jay i did feel at times but then it felt missing
and this is as you said he really loves performing the stage and i just think maybe next time if he could just maybe feel the lyrics more if its an emotional song
The reason wumuti cried is because he connected to the song hayoon loved it because he connected to the song

My problem with the judge is, that they put personal taste in. The first 2vs2 i have no problem with the outcome, but with the numbers and the explanation. Sherlock wasn't for me.

I love Build Up so so much I don’t know how many times I’ve cried watching it and it’s only ep 3!!!! That Wumuti & Hayoon’s performance is God sent, it is holy, it is a revelation, it is one of the best survival show stage I’ve ever watched if not the best. I used to be a Jay’s fan but the way some of his fans move here and on X oh lord it’s just not worth it. Bitsaeon is really good I am truly surprised. After ep 3 my 4 picks are Wumuti, Hayoon, Donghoon and Bitsaeon

Donghun = sad resting face. In another show (I think Mixnine ?) he said someone suddenly asked if he was crying, when he was actually in a good mood...Maybe it can contribute to his charms when singing a ballad, but also to make him seem like he's doing too much ?

As good as the contestants are, I do have a huge problem with this show in that they are not up-front about their rules. How the teams are formed, how elimination works, how the fan voting will impact, they don't tell you anything until the last minute and they are not disclosing how many votes there are. It feels extremely shady and dishonest, they can pretty much wait for the results and then make up whatever rules they want this way, I don't feel good about it.
