Yes hindus are also non vegetarian. This is religious festival Diwali means celebration when lord Ram return to Ayodhya. And In Hinduism (Sanatan) we don't believe in eating Animal while worshipping God or doing anything holy. We don't believe after killing/eating Animal we will get blessing from God. If it's just a party , then don't call it as Diwali and do thing which we do do on Diwali. Just do the party like everyone does.
Non-vegetarian Hindus also do not eat meat during religious festivals like Diwali and Navratri. They also do not eat meat on the day they visit temples. Meat comes from violence, pain and suffering… extremely inauspicious to introduce symbols of violence and suffering of other sentient beings during auspicious religious festivals & celebrations where you seek blessings and prosperity for the year ahead from the divine. We believe the source of creation (divinity/God) exists within all beings. You cannot celebrate the victory of good over evil by committing evil. Hindu prayers usually end with the chant “loka samastha sukhino bhavanthu” - meaning may all beings in all the worlds be happy and prosperous (this includes the defenseless animals we slaughter for our culinary pleasure ) Also Diwali is not a celebration of food - there are people who fast during Diwali. It’s a celebration of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil - meat from slaughtered animals do not represent any of the auspicious good we celebrate on that day 🙏🏻
All Hindus are not vegetarians, but whoever follows hinduism shouldn't eat meat on Diwali. Showing the intensions superficially is no good. Diwali is not some bday celebration, it is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing purity and prosperity, where abstaining from non-vegetarian food is a traditional mark of respect. Celebrating Diwali means honoring Hindu cultural and spiritual values - participate meaningfully or choose not to. Simple.
Will Keir Stammer the Labour Prime serve Pigs in a blanket , Ham Sandwich, Alcohol during Idd celebration. So short sighted of the labour PM diversity. 😂

This simply shows the gross hypocrisy of PM Starmer. I would have thought that he would have done some research into this festival and listened to a few Hindu advisors.
Hinduism is an amazing faith. Eating of animals is prohibited totally and it's made crystal clear in the Bagavad Gita. Nowhere does it state meat eating should be refrained only on certain days in the calender. People reject what they don't like. That's up to them. We all are free to make choices. Many Hindus do eat meat even though they know it's condemned. KS is not a Hindu. He can do exactly what he likes in his residence. Talk about hypocrisy.

Probably not fair to blame it on Starmer directly - some idiots in his No 10 staff ought to be sacked.

In Eastern India, Kali Puja is done on the day of Diwali, and historically, animal sacrifice was done, so non-veg food is not an issue, however, alcohol would be a strict no-no.
They are celebrating diwali not Kali Mata pooja , so non veg is also inappropriate

Being completely honest, it’s fine. Many of us eat non-veg and drink alcohol otherwise, and some days we don’t. It’s frankly confusing, and if you’re going to eat meat and drink may as well do it at a celebration. There is no scriptural support mandating that you not eat this or that on such and such day.
