    • @TheToyOdyssey
      @TheToyOdyssey 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Art Vandelay beat wise Illmatic, yea maybe, but the Purple tape???? Name one beat Havoc did that rocks like Criminology, Incarcerated Scarefaces, Glaciers of Ice, Rainy Dayz?? Havoc is and has never been on the same planet as the RZA. Havoc is a beat maker. Rza is a music scientist. I'm even go as far as say DJ muggs is much better than Havoc.

      Big Homie, I Don't Know If Muggs Is Better Than Havoc, You Should Of Said, Muggs Is Better Than RZA, Those Are Deep Soul Sample Heads, Havoc Is A Raw Dogg Boom Bap Kid Who Learned From Exter-P & DJ Premier, Now Havoc Is Nowhere Near The Best, But He Have Samples That Nobody Have Found Yet, And Were Talkin' Bout 1993-97. Sence Were Talkin' About Who's Better, I Got One For Ya Pete Rock Or J Dilla AKA Jay Dee, Please Let Me Know. PEACE

    • @TheToyOdyssey
      @TheToyOdyssey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Havoc is a good beat maker but trust me I know a lot of producers that can make beats like his. He samples a little loop and throws a basic drum sample over it. If you think about it, there's nothing really special about what he's doing. What always made his beats good to me is his sample selection. Now when you get producers like RZA, DJ Premie and Muggs, they use totally different techniques that are much more complicated and can't be duplicated by just anyone. Their beat scientists. With that being said Mobb Deep's first album is definitely on my top 15 greatest hip hop album.

    • @devone730
      @devone730 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Havoc Is Very Simple Boom Bap Hip Hop, DJ Premier, Pete Rock And Dilla Are Chopp Masters And DJ Muggs And RZA Are Deep Soul 45 Flippers, Take A Sample Speed It Up And Grab The Under Beat From The Vocals, Havoc More Or Less Is Like Large Professor AKA Exter-P Or Beatnut, Keep The Drums Simple, And The Sample Rare As Fuck, Pure Vinyl, No MP3! All This Is Before (Who Sampled Site). Theres A Lot Of Simple Producers Out There The Beatnuts, Q-Tip Or Evidence Of Dilated Peoples, And Havoc Is One Of Them To... But Still Dope As Fuck, He's A G" In The Game.

    Yea, Havoc has been repeatedly surprising me recently. He's staying true to his own style in the face of growing homogenization of his genre; he has been self-reflective enough to apologize about recent attacks he made on other rappers; and he doesn't just arrogantly say it takes him 20 mins to make hits, but recognizes the unpredictability of the creative process. I used to not think much of him when I compared his lyrical skills to prodigy, but he's actually a large talent!

    The important lesson here from havoc is having the ear for the right sound. Like he knew the hi hat could be better and he went back and found it. It’s not about throwing loops and calling it a day. Its listening to it. And making the right change. Something so simple as a hi hat changed the whole track

    I thought that too until I tried it. Most of the best hip-hop producers use samples in such a way that its not at all just taking something catchy and throwing a thump and crack to it, even when it might sound like that. The layering and alteration of samples, attention to detail, the fact that it always sounds completely diff from the og sources. It's easy to make instruments work together as it's in their design but samples can be trickier.

    its actually harder considering usually older experiened DJs were in their little community church choirs and understand music, and how to build off of it. All these "from scratch" djs build off the same common chord structures, that everyones already done... same 808s same blah blah... plus sampling gives it such a genuine hip hop feel

    One of the best that ever did it. Player in two games just like pee wee kirkland. Not only can he rap, but he is a monster producer too. Love that he makes all his beats on his last couple solo albums. Mobb deep is still in the top 5 in my opinion. Hell on earth is one of the best CDs ever made

    Hardware, software.. I think the end result speaks for itself.. it's the ear, and the talent that reigns supreme. I started with an Akai s-950 and I've used logic, reason and FL studio. Same thing, different medium.. hip hop wins...
