As part of the Windows operating system, Windows Installer is a base service used to manage software products.

There are many tools used for application packaging out there. We are going to use for this training course the Advanced Installer tool.

Advanced Installer is one the most popular tools for packaging and repackaging applications. Advanced Installer's GUI creates the MSI following the primary goal of delivering applications to the end-user. It achieves that by scanning the operating system, installing the application that has to be repackaged, then scanning the system one more time and the MSI results from the difference between those two results.
6:22 | Orca is a tool used for editing MSIs, which offers access to all the MSI tables, but it is not meant to be a “full-featured” tool for creating MSIs.
6:46 | Wise Package Studio is a tool that has been discontinued, but it is still very popular and still used at the time this video is recorded (spring of 2021).
6:55 | WiX Toolset was released by Microsoft back in 2004, and it was their first ever open source license project.

Application packaging and Deployment lies under which technology like Cloud, development, Testing ??

It is hard to pinpoint the app packaging/deployment on a specific technology as app packaging can be done locally but also in the cloud. In most corporations these tasks are usually considered to be under Client Operations but again, these are not pinpointed to a specific tech. If we could assign them to a technology we could think of Microsoft 365.

Hello! If we are talking about MSI packages, these can be deployed in any shape or form for mass consumption of the users or in enterprise. MSI packages are installable offline by default. In case this answer doesn't cover your question, please describe your scenario in more details.

Windows Installer will create many msi trash in WIindows. Pure exe installer without msi will be better.
