Honestly I think the most impressive thing (from me being a casual viewer) is the fact that, even when able to skip City of Gold and the necessary steps before that as well as being able to keep a teleporter, the current hell% world record is ***so*** good that the skip method isn't thought to be able to beat it by more than a handful of seconds when done optimally. That's really fast.

Nice video! With Hec already getting that 3:33, we could be seeing some runs be faster than the chain route pretty soon... the Low% Hell run is also getting pretty close!
my favorite speed runs are the type that don't take very long, and people can begin to just minmax the smaller intricacies. It makes it less frustrating for the runner because starting over is just about a 2 to 3 minute investment gone, and its so exciting to see how people create maximum effort attempts for just minutes of gameplay of a wr. its so awesome.

Does dropping a bomb on the tile the hell door is on open it as well? Or is it only when Olmec stomps on it? I could see a run with a fat amount of bombs and good timing doing that faster than bringing Olmec for the ride

Does Olmec have to break the block? Could you instead sticky bomb the block, and then shove it down the shaft so that it explodes while over the entrance? Might save time since you wouldn’t have to mess with Olmec as much.
If we compare hell door to the black market or the haunted castle one, why can’t you just cook a bomb to explode at the door entrance, then bring Olmec in?
Imagine if there's a way to skip the bow and the golden arrow to get to the Cosmic Ocean in Spelunky 2 and we just don't know that. Am I onto something?

Definitely agree, majority of this was video was made before Hecs 3:33 and I probably overestimated how long it would be until a sub 3:19.

What if a sticky bomb or mattock was used on the push block while it was infront of the door? would it work the same way as Olmec destroying it?
If the top block has to be destroyed. Would a well timed bomb not accomplish the same? Or would that have been discovered a long time ago.
wow, that's such a simple and retroactively obvious skip. makes me wonder what other game breaking glitches and skips are yet to be noticed in games.
