@@TheGazeConstructive criticism, no disrespect; lose the background noise. The subject & your narration of it is great! The addition of distracting, monotonous & annoying music ruined the vid for me.
Your videos, the storytelling, the point you drive to, the incredibly well-matched music, all communicate a genuine passion and love for your chosen subjects. When the model doesn’t particularly encourage video creation like this, it is refreshing and a special thing to find. Thanks for making, they are very good
I live near the village where he was born, and I know the ancestors of the figures in the 'Potato Eaters' And they don't look too far removed. However, with art we get insights into ourselves, there is something very Human in the works of Van Gogh. I wish he'd didn't kill himself, if only he waited 9 years, or so. He would of received the love/recognition he required.
I am an artist. The first painting I saw at age of 4 was a painting by Van Gogh....the covent painting. It was at my gramma's house. A copy which intrigued me as only a child can fixate on an image, toy etc. He fascinates me to this day.
Thank you for this information. Helps people realize what events, positive and negative, shaped a famous person's life and affected that person's body of work. Please make more of these videos.
What a beautiful friendship and love story 💛🩵💙🌻 Vincent is my lifetime favorite artist and I didn’t know about his devotion to the postman. I absolutely loved this THANK YOU
I recently saw one of the Postman paintings in person and I cried. You can feel the relationship and joy in the face. Thank you for sharing this story I never knew but was always drawn towards
Wonderful video! The "Postman" here in Philly's Barnes museum is a personal favorite, I've had a print on my wall for the past 15 years. A much more meaningful painting after understanding their relationship.
I already loved your Instagram Reels. One of the very few accounts I watch. So glad I now know your TH-cam Channel. Normally I keep watching everything on 1.75 speed because I cant listening to people seeking slow. But your masterpiece of Story telling I watched at the original, therfore right speed and enjoyed every second. So glad I know the story of the postman now.
Amazing and incredible video 🫶 I ended up crying because of how beautiful this story was and because one more time it's on evidence the deep love and dedication that Vincent had for his art, and such an amazing work coming from the heart will be appreciated until the eternity 🧡 Thank you for such amazing video!
I just found your channel tonight and have only watched two videos so far. The first was the one on Gary Larson (excellent!) and the second one this beautiful story of Van Gogh's friendship with the Postman. Not only am I knocked out by the content, I am also knocked out by your refined and sensitive perceptions and reporting plus your own strong storytelling talent. I read the book of Vincent's letters to his brother Theo a few years back, shortly after seeing the painted animation film, Loving Vincent. Since then I have been self-diagnosed as autistic/Asperger's +ADHD (AUDHD) (at age 72) after a ton of research. During my research I began to realize he was probably autistic / on the autism spectrum. It is so hard to live in a world you were never made for (unless you develop a humongous sense of humor!) and I found his story heartbreaking. But you have put a salve on this heartache by showing me this beautiful friendship. Thank you! I am now a subscriber!
Interesting topic, although his brother Theo was in Paris, working in a gallery, not in Holland and he would send him a monthly allowance to pay Vincent’s rent and other expenses. I spent last Summer in Arles. It’s one of my favorite cities, and if you are a photographer, you can’t pass on the photography festival running there from July to September.
truly amazing video ❤ if you ever wanna goi into detail in the friendship & feud between van Gogh and Gauguin, i promise i’m the first to watch 😅 Thanks again for making this one ❤
Your storytelling abilities are through the roof!! Amazing research and presentation! Thank you for this 🌻 Also, little Marcelle, I'm sorry he really hated you babe
Thanks! It is so often great and famous artists become lifeless clichés. Overexploited so that we can no longer take in what they produced. Think that many of them, like Vincent van Gogh, had been assessed with the new concept of "highly sensitive". In my opinion, a prerequisite for true artistry. There are plenty of technically skilled illustrators, but not with the depth of soul of true artists.
I'm curious if you subscribe to the theory that Vincent was murdered by the town bully. There seems to be a number of curious coincidences of that day.
There’s no way to be absolutely certain about how Vincent died, but I personally lean toward the suicide theory. Most art historians agree with this, as the evidence seems to support it more strongly than the idea that he was killed by some kids or a town bully.
@TheGaze thank you for replying, I very much appreciate it. I guess it's kind of an Occam's razor scenario, but still I find the number of coincidences intriguing. It reminds me of a quote, "an unpopular theory requires extraordinary evidence, whereas a popular theory requires only a show of hands as proof". I mean, we were told by "authorities" on the subject that Vincent cut off his ear because of his involvement with a prostitute, but that's not at all the actual truth. You're absolutely right though, we'll never really know. Thanks!!
You may not be aware, but Leonard Nimoy (the actor who portrayed Mr Spock), did a one man show as Theo Van Gogh. Hopefully it is something new for you to enjoy.
Also, Vincent may not have killed himself, but caught 2 boys stealing or something bad that they were doing and got shot by them. He chose to die then to tell on the 2 young boys and save them from their "mistake" and they would be able to have a future
Unfortunately you missed his beginning of wanting to be a pastor! Vincent was a deeply faith driven man who loved God and Jesus. Please, look deeper into the faith that was such a beautiful; part of his life
I’ve been following you on IG for a while and so glad to see a lovely well-made well-organized full video like this on youtube. Really much enjoy your style and how you analyse the detail that is both intriguing and meaningful 🫶
The missing cup handle was an amazing touch
Fun fact: I cut my finger while washing it. You can see the band aid in the opening shot. 😅
I adore your videos. I wish you would make them more frequently but I would be scared you would sacrifice your quality! Thank you! ❤
Thank you so much. ❤️ Quality over quantity, but I am planning to upload more frequently in the future! 😊
@TheGaze whatever you're doing is perfect! The reverence you show to art, plus the scenes in your videos are fantastic

Thank you so much for those kind words. It truly means the world!
Beautifully told story. A reminder of the importance one person can play in another's life, often without even knowing it.
The quality of this video is mind blowing. I love your work, man!
shedded tears in a cafe watching this

Very beautiful story, I really enjoyed watching this video, Thank You for making it.
Never have I had such an appreciation for the art, or such a real, relatable, human empathy for the artist. Great work.
