I'm very excited about road craft but snowrunner is one of my favorite games and I don't think I will abandon it

TBH I don't really care if there will be a year 5 pass. Snowrunner is the game I've played the most since 2020. One of my favorite games ever. But I think there's been enough of it and as it is by the time I get through all the current passes, and also continue to enjoy life outside Snowrunner, it will be 2028. I haven't even gotten Season 13 (or is it 14?) yet.
I feel like most people hate on Expeditions because of the bad launch. But its pretty good now for ne atleast, and coop has been a blast😂
I agree, I have a review coming but spoiler alert I actually enjoy it. The user-interface is bad though.

I agree too about the interface and button mapping on console. They should have made it so we could map the buttons more similar to SR or MR. It is "A MudRunner Game" after all. Now going back and forth between games I keep pressing the wrong buttons for things.
Most people hate on it because it's not snowrunner, but it was never meant to be another snowrunner.

Love SnowRunner and look forward to Road Craft (still, I think they missed out on the opportunity to call it RoadRunner). Expeditions, on the other hand, is like nails on a chalkboard.

I will continue playing Snowrunner, because it is one of my dearest games. I would really be sad if they (Saber) would stop supporting the game. RoadCraft looks interesting and I'm sure I will test it at some point, but only if I know that Snowrunner will get continued support.
It is suprising to hear that they used the new Game Engine in Space Marines 2, too. It looks so good. I really wish, they would use it for a worthy sequel of Snowrunner.
I tried Expeditions. It did one good thing for me: it made me reinstall and rediscover the fun of playing Snowrunner. I'm excited for RoadCraft.

All expeditions made me do was go back to snow runner and start again on hard mode.

Is Expeditions really doing well? Idk on consoles, but steam charts says that it barely reaches 200 players daily, while snowrunner consistently shows above 2000 players every day
I suspect he is saying that to help it become more successful! But I do enjoy it, it has its unique charms.
Ah nice one, you answered the only question I had regarding release dates. Thanks Ben. I went and got lost in an underground cave network in snowrunner last year. One of the mod maps has one that is scout only FYI 😁👍🏽

Im going to be moving on to Roadcraft. Building infrastructure like that seems more rewarding for me.
I'm curious whether I will vibe with it as well as I did with SnowRunner.
I have over 1800 hours in SnowRunner and would like to keep playing it, as long as it doesn't get lame. Expeditions looks all right but the price is (still) a bit steep, and a little arcade-like. RoadCraft looks awesome so I hope it isn't too expensive.
After latest DLC Expeditions feels much better, still Snowrunner is much better game. I play both now!
I started expeditions on game pass and honestly I’m really enjoying it. Its just brought down by some unnecessarily convoluted ui and some really irritating bugs that they really should have fixed by now.
Yeah I'm gonna need some more Snowrunner in my life. And more Expeditions. And can't wait for Roadcraft. I'm a sucker for these games.

Going to go ahead and need a sand runner next, with some of the features from expeditions (tire pressure, winching changes, etc). I think sand could be a cool idea too.
The think I think is funny is Expeditions just makes me wish some of those features made it to Snowrunner, Like the tire pressure. (unless it is there and I have completely missed it) It was one of the few things I think they should have brought over from Spintires.(a couple of the large trucks had it) As it is actually quite common to have that function even if it is a portable air compressor and you just letting out the air manually. And having the push function with the winch which I really think should make it's way into Snowrunner even if the tire pressure most likely won't. Roadcraft looks interesting. I think it will be fun. I don't think we will see a mass migrations from Snowrunner though. But it really just depends on the game play. As some has said, I still haven't finished Snowrunner so I will still be playing.
Snowrunner season 14 is now coming out next Thursday 26th September, early Xmas present from the devs. 😀😀

If they keep doing cool DLC... Im gonna buy them... only just started playing a couple months ago... but I have bought quite a few DLC since then... and looking forward to Road Craft 👍
Hmmm if they are using the SM2 engine in RoadCraft, does that mean we might finally see some life on the maps? The main selling point of that engine is the ability to have hundreds if not thousands of NPCs on the screen at once. If Saber brought some much needed workers/civilians/random people doing their own thing in the game (maybe even traffic) that would indeed be gamechanging....
As much as I love Snowrunner, I think that Year 3 was enough.

Also saying each game has it's own developer team means absolutely nothing. If Every game has 10 people working on it and they move 9 people from Snowrunner to Roadcraft so that only one person remains for Snowrunner they still have a "team" for each game.

Honestly I really like Expeditions, it just needs quality of life improvements. The start of the game is just too brutal and it's difficult to feel like you're making any progress until you've unlocked very difficult to find upgrades and very difficult to recover vehicles, both of which you need to pay for after recovering. A new, easier region and an update that allows free acquisition of new trucks/upgrades the first time you use them would go miles. The late game is quite satisfying
I have exactly opposite experience, coming straight from Snowrunner... Expeditions seems too easy and too boring. As new player jumping into the game, never played anything from the series might feel expeditions hard indeed.

I am more interested in Road Craft than Expeditions but I think that Snowrunner is reaching the point of everything that can be done on the current engine has been done. I do think that taking the DLC team and having them instead just take that development cycle to really nail down technical issues on Snowrunner before ending active development on the game would be a good way to end things because the game will continue to be played for likely another decade at least.
The next Snowrunner sequel has to use the new engine, bring about tracked vehicles, and have a much more reactive world (roads being rebuilt, signs being removed, maps getting easier to drive through as you progress through them, etc...) at a minimum to make moving over worth it.
I would like to see new missions and contracts on our old maps like they did before, maybe some repeating delivery, fuel,water and lumber to the mills.
I hope roadcraft works on steamdeck as well as snowrunner and expeditions do. Its always a worry with new games that ill lose access on my most convienent machine to play on.
Talks about Snowrunner but is showing expeditions footage only?! Very Sad to see expeditions has smaller player base, I feel like they should give big discount to get people more involved!
If season 1 dlc is any signal for the rest of year one pass we will definitely see an increased player base

For a game that seems to have no end I can't play any other game bc I'm so hooked on snow runner. I'm just on black badger lake. Whichever season that is. I try to complete everything before I move on.
Expeditions doesn’t embody the spirit of snow runner … hopefully road craft does but I’m doubtful

Would be cool but definitely sounds more like RoadCraft. At least we get the bloke who drinks steam though so the loneliness is being reduced lol.
While I would`ve prefered roadcraft fo be the sequal to snowrunner, I would be fine with a year 5 pass for snowrunner, knowing that roadcraft is a spinoff. That being said, I have yet to buy year 4, and I am still only on season 5 (year 2), so I`m not exactly hurting for content to play in the game.
As for expeditions, I am interested to watch your review, but it`s one I`ve been struggling to enjoy. The controls hurt my brain, and the ui navigation feels so counterintuitive to me, considering the menus and such present themselves vary similarly to snowrunner. Beyond that, the core gameplay hasn`t been doing it for me. I`ve been meaning to give it another shot, but I`ve been waiting for the coop mode to become available on console, and to see of some of the year 1 stuff would start coming out, and make to game more enjoyable
I worry about the future of Snowrunner. Feel like the devs have too many irons in the fire with Expiditions Year Pass content, new game Road Craft, worried that even if they do year 5 for Snowrunner, that quality and quantity may suffer.
Spread too thinly and all that, hopefully not. Better to not rush and put out stuff people can complain about.
What they need to do is add the controllable AI, instead of using other players and you want to play single player that you should be able to just play with AI give them way points of some sort and the truck and let them complete the mission, it would make the replayability better.
I am not interested in Expeditions or Roadcraft, only Snowrunner. If they stopped making Snowrunner DLC and didn't come out with a Snowrunner 2 or whatever, they would lose a customer.
I’m going to get the new game, but I haven’t finished all the season stuff I have for snowrunner, and I don’t even have all seasons lol. The game has a lot of content!
Since Year 2 no one has been able to play co op on Xbox. Why would they care about keeping the game alive when they've been ignoring a third of their player base for 3 years? Why would i feel any urge at all to buy another title from them when they have nothing to ease my fear of buying a digital license to a game they dont care to let me play? Its kind of crazy the fan base this game has now that its IP is owned by Sabre. And even after Sabre destroyed Oovee as a company for continuing to sell the original spin tires after Mud runner was released. For a company that publicly rips off and destroys the lives of small business owners they sure do have a lot of fans. I used to donate to the Spintires demo back when Oovee was developing it. Oovee never announced DLCs or maps because the vehicles and missions were created by the community, not some dope with a 9 to 5 and no aspirations. It makes watching Sabre rip the heart and soul from what was once such a innovative and interesting idea is just so depressing. They got you all ready to buy the same game all over again. None of you care enough that they drip feed you DLC, you pay for it, then they come up with an idea that would actually be good DLC, but instead they sell that as a separate game and you all buy it again for triple what its worth. But wait, "new" game means new DLC to be drip fed, line up boys and girls, or should i say pay up. and the cycle continues as it has since the games release. TLDR ill buy the new one when they give a poop enough to fix the first one that broke 3 years ago.
I don't own Expeditions yet but I'm keen to play it. Still working on Snowrunner for now. Roadcraft looks great too. Nice to know there are teams working on each game / spinoff. I hope we get a Year 5 pass, but dear lord please no more farming 😭
I have more than 700h in snowrunner and this is not the end - i am on phase 9. Expeditions? - I've watched many gameplays and it does not look interesting for me. It has some cool features that i would glad to see in snowrunner - but thats it. Roadcraft looks way more interesting. I hope to see year 5 in snowrunner.
I would prefer they just fixed bugs in snowrunner and start on a sequel that incorporates snowrunner/expiditons/roadcraft.
Snowrunner is still great. Sadly I can't play Expeditions due to the controller schemes available and my disabilities. Therefore I am not holding out much hoppe that Roadcraft will be any better in that department. I will wait and see how it turns out before I consider buying it.
If you don't mind me asking, what control schemes allow you to play or is it because of the different menu/button layout? Seems like something the developer might be able to fix easily if asked.
@@ATribeCalledCars I can't easily hold down the bumper buttons on the controller due to a neurological condition. In Mudrunner and 1 or 2 of the Snowrunner schemes the clutch is on the right thumbstick which worked great for me. I did contact support when the game came out because I did pre-order it and also left some comments on the Discord. But up to today that still hasn't been fixed.

@@ATribeCalledCars indeed, Sabre are juggling a lot of balls at the moment and there's more coming from the studio, I really hope they don't stretch too thin.
SnowRunner has to be one of my all time favourite games at this point, and I honestly don't thing there's a title out there that offers as much game play and game content as SnowRunner, and with an active player base they could easily adopt an SCS approach to the game, ATS and ETS have been super successful for year due to the continued support and updates, and regular expansions and dlc's through each year. They could even scrap the Annual pass and just say we are gonna drop 2-3 region expansions each year and 2-3 smaller vehicle / addon dlcs.
They could retroactively add more modern tasks and features in to old regions, such as crafting, patching some new mission to the old maps to get people jumping back to maps they have "completed", lessening the need to add as many new regions each year. Get that winch mechanic from Expeditions in there too 😉

Space Marine 2 any good? Seems like it could be fun based on the few reviews I have read. And once upon a time I did have some Warhammer models! Many moons ago.
I haven't bought the year 4 pass yet because we're 8 months into it's availability and still only have a single season to play with. Not going to buy something on the promise of future content, I need to actually see it, then they'll get my money.

When is the Expeditions review coming out?
I am still playing some bits and bobs, but my notes are basically done. It is annoying with modern games because the review at launch is only so useful once new stuff is added, tweaked, nerfed or changed. The latest DLC will have to be included in my verdict but then I would likely have to revisit or do separate reviews for seasons after that!

There must be a continuation of the series, e.g. MudRunner 2 or SnowRunner 2. Let the creators take care of improved vehicle physics and interactions with the surface and the mass of cargo. From the beginning, the assumption of this series was that the title would be a simulator and be demanding. SnowRunner is mainly Arcade, which is an insult to this series. And while I like SnowRunner, it doesn't live up to my expectations like SpinTires or MudRunner. Why do developers divide into 3 groups if, if they joined forces, they could create a title that includes MudRunner, Expeditions and RoadCraft gameplay in one extensive title?
I just don't understand how the season 4 isn't even halfway done and they are still going for 5
They have to plan ahead obviously. The year 4 pass is probably already done, they're just waiting to release it over time.

Yeah and no, if they want, they can transfer the game to a new engine. The problem is: The amount of work need to do this is worthy or not?
I suspect using the latest and greatest across multiple titles is best for a number of reasons including shared resources, staff training and cost. Now that Saber is flying solo again I suspect it will be wanting to be as lean as possible.

SnowRunner seems to give my PC a hard time, but I think my non-gaming 5950X is partly responsible for the odd stutter and weaker 1% lows. Not ready to jump to AM5 just yet though. Maybe when we get the 5090 GPU!
@@ATribeCalledCars snowrunner gives every pc a hard time on very high,high is fine the moment you switch to very high it frame spikes like crazy maybe the texture streaming is to blame,who knows. I play with loseless scaling so I can have a nice smooth experience and it's the only game I use it for
@@uzzy3880 Ahh okay, makes sense. I find game saves cause a stutter too. Hopefully when I eventually upgrade to a newer CPU and RAM that kind of stuff is reduced but we shall see. Game optimisation can be pretty lazy so even with a 4090 you still don't always get perfect performance :(

Well it's a shame that in 2024 people still support russian developers and buy games/dlcs they make.
For those who cares but didn't know - yes, snowrunner is developed by the russian studio.
Boycott Road Craft, then. Saber is trying to spin-off dogs hoping they turn to cows and abandoning their cows. Snowrunner is the game they should focus on. Maybe Snowrunner 2, only because of a new engine, but same game mechanics. It's what gamers love along with the current mods.
