    Amazing, literally floored, what a cool woman, seeing her spin the spindle over the scrap of tire on her leg, or her entire loom having a back strap on it, her going to workshops, paying for her son's education, learning feet and inches such back breaking work and she takes pride and joy in it and I am just so blown away. What a resourceful and skillful weaver!!!

    I have a jute rug in my living room and dining room. It's way more resilient than your typical carpet or rug and is almost maintenance-free. Unlike a typical carpet or rug, it doesn't soak spills making it a breeze to clean.

    I am happy that these women are from my place West Bengal, from where I belong too.
    And there are too many artisans who are centered around Jute. Jute is loosing popularity due to plastic or else it was once the costliest fibre due to its usage and high demand as shipping bags for everything literally . Sturdier than cotton, waterproof, Stainproof and So strong. Jute ropes are still in use. I hope Jute gains its popularity again as in modern world, it is the solution to non-biodegradable plastic.

    • @Kathakathan11
      @Kathakathan11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the no plastic awareness is increasing, so their efforts will be soon appreciated. Already in my city single use plastic is banned since 7-8 years, I have not seen a single simple plastic Bag in new Bombay. It’s possible to implement it in new cities or smart cities. May be in mega cities it’s difficult to replace.
      But jute is never going away from human civilisation for sure.

    These tribal products should be encouraged and made available everywhere in major government outlets and other main retail outlets so that people who value these products can buy and thereby increase the income of these hardworking people

    Deedi must be appreciated for all her hardwork and dedication to earn a living as well as to preserve and protect our traditions. There are so many like her who should be encouraged to earn a decent income from what they are doing. State governments should take initiative. 👏
