Yh I don't think it's the VA's fault. The director just didn't understand the assignment for Steve. Cuz this is the same voice actor he has had since Tekken 6... Steve actually sounds realistic from T6 to T7 (Including Tag 2 and SFXT), but here he sounds like a presenter for a Children's TV Show. Specifically a British Children's show that released in the early to late 2000's. Best example I could give is Mr Tumble... Steve's VA is also from Windsor, which is a very posh area, so it makes sense how he sounds from T6 to T7, but now it feels very unrealistic as this feels like a British Caricature/Stereotype more than how a British person sounds. I'm from the UK, and I can tell you...no British talks like this apart from presenters or fictional characters 😂.
But, Steve is a fictional character. Not to mention he's friends with a Bruce Lee archetype, has fought literal demons, cyborgs, robots, animals who can somehow communicate via growls etc. I find this voice to be, more eccentric for that matter.
@corryjamieson3909 people think Tekken is real and it makes me laugh. He sounds so fake in Tekken 5 as well but no one will point it out because its there beloved game.
I figured it was voice direction stuff. It's kinda how I feel about Azucena. She sounds completely unnatural, like spanish dub of Bob the Builder unnatural. So, I get it.
Fun fact: Steve's voice actor has been the same since Tekken 6, apparently. So it seems like the voice direction for him changed for Tekken 7 and Tekken 8
Tbh his voice in T7 sounds different but T8 is definitely Emery, albeit with a clearly different direction. It's weird tho cuz Steve had the best voice direction in T6-Tag 2 so idk why they changed it@@Mistral.04

I can't belive I'm saying this but, his SfXT voice actually sounded the best, then I think runner up is his Tag 2 intro lines but I think the biggest issue with Steve is getting a hold on his personality. Watching the story dialogue just now made me realize that Steve has 2 different persnalities. His battle grunts make him seem like he rarely ever talks, and the way he's been presented, especially in the T4 intro and the Tag 2 intros is like he's a pretty boy/dirty boxer, but in the story mode, he's a regular dude with not much of a personality...
Facts bro. Wish they just stuck with making him a badass dude of few words. And made him react more negatively to his mother not giving a shit about him lol
The game keeps getting elevated with different graphic changes as the times goes by, the same could not be said for every VA for they all had that British accent that brought about the character. That being said the new VA for is fine but the delivery for it awkward in some areas. Might need to hear more of it as the game progresses. Also for most of us it easier to have to hear characters that have a different language barrier to often judge their voice acting isnt that right!
It's the same voice actor lol. Just new voiceover direction...which is why Steve sounds familiar, but different. Then she deleted all her social medias, and blamed people not liking her performance because of racism, sexism, etc. When in reality she just didn't sound good, and she wasn't given good direction.
