By far the best camera work of any duck hunter I've seen. We can tell you take serious pride in your work and comes through in every video. Keep the content coming!!
Thanks Evan, I really appreciate that! I have to give a huge shoutout to Tyler for a lot of the clips I used on this hunt. He's extremely skilled with a camera and it really showed!
That was a great video! The 8hp on that kayak/board was pretty amazing. The best part was watching your dog work so well. Definitely made the hunt and no lost ducks. She responded to the whistle perfectly! Thanks!
Thanks Shane! All the credit goes to my buddy Cory Loeffler for Rue. She's his dog and he did most all of the training with her. I'm just lucky enough to get to take her out into the marsh from time to time!
I really appreciate your videos. I am an infantry veteran looking for a new hobby and ive started to look into duck hunting. I am in the panhandle of Texas now. I have reached out and tried to meet new people and get started, but the only folk that respond are guides. So, I think I’ll start with a guide. A couple questions. What do you do for ticks? Do you treat your clothes with permethrin? For a beginner shotgun. How is the Franchi affinity 3 elite? Any advice on getting started? Gear? Looking to learn, but haven’t found any one to take me under their wing? Haha I guess you could say, I’m going into the Blinds, blind. Ok, I’m done.
I appreciate you watching them! Typically ticks aren't an issue for me, but I would think it's wise to be cautious of them and chiggers early in the season down in Texas. Permethrin would be your best bet to keep them off, I assume it works on chiggers too. I think the Affinity 3 Elite would be a great option for you. I'd easy to handle, clean, and should be a very reliable tool for you. Given your background I would think you'll probably take a lot better care of yours than most would. Some things that I think would be valuable to invest in would be quality waders, a motion ducks system (or any kind of jerk rig), and an OnX membership. Beyond that, it's mainly just about spending time in the field and learning the behaviors of waterfowl. I really hope that helps and if you have any other questions feel free to reach out on Instagram if you have it. I'd be happy to try to line a hunt up together if I make it down to TX this season
I've been watching your videos for quite a while. I think we may even have a mutual friend. I see your hunting in Alaska, I just got back from Ketchikan trying to hunt sea ducks . I had no luck at all. I'm not hoping for a gps numbers or anything but I'm curious if you would tell me in general what part of Alaska your hunting? I'm trying to buy land there and would love to be able to duck hunt
I wish I could share more but unfortunately there's just so much internet scouting that goes on these days. I will say that this isn't too far from Anchorage but as Jason said, it wasn't the hay flats
Hahaha I'm sure it does get pretty confusing since I hunt with three different ones regularly. My lab is Leroy and my boss Cory has Rue (Leroy's mom) and Bonnie. I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt with all of them throughout the season!

Rue is doing awesome!
Thanks Jason! She's a lot of fun to get to spend a day in the marsh with!

Thanks Don! She's a fun one, all the credit for her skills go to Cory Loeffler though! He's her owner and did most all of her training
Beautiful sunset!!! Cool way to make a hunt. Great hunt as always1
Thanks Aaron! I've seen some amazing sunsets but the ones in Alaska are a whole different breed
You and rue are doing great! Very cool to see your dog handling getting so good .
Nice hunt to end the Alaska swing.

@@HokeOutdoors Yes...absolutely...heading to one of the WMAs.

Much appreciated! They definitely are a little spendy

Best youtuber out right now love the vidz! Do you use a choke if you do what kind?
Thanks brother, I appreciate you watching them! I use a Carlsons light modified choke
Hell of a dog dude
I’m in the beginning stages of training my dog to retrieve ducks. Hope to get to your dogs level one day!
Thanks Shane! All the credit goes to my buddy Cory Loeffler for Rue. She's his dog and he did most all of the training with her. I'm just lucky enough to get to take her out into the marsh from time to time!
Nice 👍
Thanks brother!
You guys are good but the dog is the star
No doubt, Rue is as fun as they get!
LFG!!!
Appreciate you watching!
The hunting season has started in my country and the birds have started migrating and the flamingos have entered the marshes now!
Do you hunt flamingos at all or just ducks and geese?
@@HokeOutdoors ducks and geese
Great hunt! What decoy bag is that?
Thanks Noah! Not sure on the decoy bag brand, I was borrowing it from Cory
Goes to show, nobody wants to hit spoonies!! HAHAHA
Hahaha I wouldn't have minded have a couple in the bag!

@@HokeOutdoors i would love to learn from you! I have messaged you on insta as well!
What kind of canoe/kyak/paddle board it that? It’s wild.
It's a BOTE Rover Aero I believe, it was a sweet little rig!
Come down to south East Tennessee and hunt some geese on the river
I'd like to one day! Hope your area was spared from the flooding over that way
@@HokeOutdoorsthe flooding breaks my heart there’s still hundreds of people still missing 😢

I appreciate you watching them! This was within a couple hours drive of Anchorage. If you can send me an email I'd be happy to discuss more specifics!
If you don’t mind me asking, where are you guys hunting out of? Is it the Palmer hay flats area? I hunt out of Jim lake and I’d like to explore more.
I live here and hunt the flats. This can't be it. We haven't had that much sun to make all these videos.
Similar habitat tho
I wish I could share more but unfortunately there's just so much internet scouting that goes on these days. I will say that this isn't too far from Anchorage but as Jason said, it wasn't the hay flats
What kind of calls do y’all use
DRC Calls! I had a Harlot, Short Drop, and CORE on my lanyard for this hunt.
@@HokeOutdoors appreciate it!!
What size shells are you usually shooting?
Typically Kent, Federal, or Migra. Almost always 3 inch #2, #3, or #4 shot.
@@HokeOutdoors 4 shot for honker?
I’m confused do you have 2 dogs now?

@@HokeOutdoors that’s awesome, and yea It was pretty confusing, love Leroy tho!!
Nice hunt. I know that last shot you had on the big group, where you had to twist all the way to the right, now thats a hard shot.
Thanks brother! Luckily I was already on my knees for that flock so it wasn't too tough to spin around!
