Correction: As it turns out, TV Audio Swap did become active for Android in time for launch. Apologies for adding to the confusion in this video. So, Audio Swap with Ace is a go, but Advance Tuning is not.
Strangely, they're not getting the soundbars to journalists till the day after launch here in Australia (which would be same day as launch in the USA). So reviews will be tardy, but will get it live as soon as I can.
thinking of getting the ARC ULTRA should i get the sub first or the ERA 100's first room is 12 x 14 looking forward to your reviews on this and the ARC ULTRA cheers from Vulcan Canada
12 x 14m or feet? Guessing feet? The Era 300s are the go over the 100s - spatial audio speakers and they sound fantastic. If it's a nice square room that's walled in (not open plan) and carpet, you might get a pretty good surround sound effect from teh Ultra itself. My testing rooms for this is a 12x12 walled in room with carpet - so will let you know how it goes once I get some solid time with it. I've got the sub and the 300s, so planning to test all three setups. Will just take a bit of time.
I’ll wait for the real world sound comparison tests after it’s actually available to compare. My guess is it’s not actually going to sound much different to the ear other than more bass and if you already have bass modules that’s kinda a null point
Potentially you're right. Surely the extra speakers and new array will make the guestimation of surround more accurate though, too. Could depend on your room and the quality of the content as to how well that is working.
Just a couple of nitpicks: "Advanced Tuning" was already available before, it's the Quicktune that is new. Also, Sound Swap is available already on Android since a few weeks ago.
I literally just got off the phoe with Sonos and they mentioned TV Swap did in fact arrive in time, so I'm about to pin up a correction on that. Oddly, I got not press release about it and my app hadn't updated. Wasn't the advance tuning available for the Era 300 and Era 100, but not the original Arc. May have got my wires crossed on that one. Seems like Trueplay has been split into two other things (Quick Tune and Advanced Tuning) - at first I thought it was three different things altogether. I've found the way they explained that a tad challenging. My bad.
I'm kind of an accidental expert on this topic as a long time frustrated Android user owning the old Arc and Ace and got excited when I saw the update come in. Quicktune was first introduced with the Sonos Move I believe, and I guess they just rebranded the old TruePlay as "Advanced Tuning". Sad that this is still limited to iOS, I wish they'd just sell a Bluetooth mic that we could pair with the Android app for tuning the system.
@@joaotab That's a great idea actually. Let the mic control all the measurements and then feed the results directly to the system through the app without ever letting Android in the chain. Next time I see them, I'm going to ask them if this is possible. Will keep you posted.
I haven't seen behind the device in person as yet (no media briefing for this one - which is unusual for Sonos. I'm guessing stock just hasn't arrived early enough.) The way it looks in the pictures, they've obviously run the cable down the inside of the wall and it's probably connecting straight into the port from the drywall.
@@motivatedtravel which is ok if you are able to run cables into a dry wall and out into the back. If like me and many others you have brick and plaster that requires either chiselling out a channel and running cables through a conduit or running them down on the surface via a conduit, which I do. The original arc allows this with a rear cut out, the ultra appears to have a straight surface flush against the wall without cable cut out to provide downwards surface connection.
Impatiently waiting for something compact for medium room. Kind of beam next gen with kind of those features in the ultra. Sub mini gen too wouldn't be a bad idea
I only see 2 height channels on the bar itself. I assume they are using some type of beamforming from the other speakers to get the other 2 height channels and rear channels for that matter.
From the way he described it, those two you see are actually two different, fired off at different timing. So you hear one then the other, with the second slight further back in the way it bounces.
My ARC has been such a disappointment. The sound quality wasn’t as good as the original Sonos soundbar it replaced. Hopefully the Ultra steps up/beyond their original, let alone the old ARC.
I didn't have any issues with TV, movies, or music on my Arc, dual subs, & Fives on my LG OLED. It was very similar to my Beam Gen 2, sub, & One SLs on another LG OLED in a room 3X smaller. Just upgraded to the Arc Ultra with improved dialogue (old Arc into master bedroom). Both Sonos system sounded better than my Nakamichi 7.2.4 I dumped I had before the Arc system. The better sounding Beam in the smaller room made me dump the Nakamichi.
We'll know more in a few days, but I'm expecting it to be a significant step up. It's such a shame they haven't worked out a way for you to use an Arc and Arc Ultra together. That would have made upgrading a more valueable prospect.
I upgraded my Arc with dual subs and Fives to the Arc Ultra. Having the sub(s) and Fives narrows the gap between the Arc and Arc Ultra a lot. The advantage still goes to the Arc Ultra with improved dialogue; but, I didn't have an issue with that on my LG OLED. It might be worth adding a sub, dual subs, and/or rear surrounds if you have the v1 Arc only if you don't have room for 2 soundbars around the house or don't want the hassle of selling. I moved my old Arc into the master bedroom to replace a Beam Gen 1.
Could not get through more than two minutes because I could not stand listening to this guy say Sonos wrong. It’s 2024 and there’s literally thousands of hours of people saying it right on the Internet what is your problem?

Bonus points: they could put the Sonos Roam mic to use for that as well and avoid a separate single purpose device ❤
When wall mounting, how do you now run cables down from the tv to the arc ultra? they have removed the cut out to chanel the cables .

Ultra Plus you reckon? How long I wonder.

ARC 2 as name would be confusing because it could be a different version of ARC than the one a possible buyer has
Sorry can you talk me through this a bit more. It is a different version to the Arc that people already have?
Is the arc ultra worth the the upgrade and the price difference
