(lol..) ♪ I hope you'll enjoy this easy but tremendously groovy song from my favorite band after Steely Dan because their whole 5 albums are so fantastic (though I'm 100% sure if I'd put The Beatles, in third place, but...). ♪ -------------------------------------- Since I've reached the half point of producing the whole Steely Dan musical catalog with 50 songs (out 90+) (Though I'm pursuing my goal to produce all of Steely Dan by the end of 2026), as of 2024, I will introduce a variety of band formations,. For that matter, expect much more of The Police, some Pat Metheny, and some surprises (and who knows, maybe some of your special supported requests?). ♪ ---------------------------------------- Producing a Steely Dan takes so much time to finalize (7 to10 days of 6 hours), and with my standards, it's quite exhausting (I only did 7 or 8 tutorials in 2023), and (IMO) I can not provide a sufficient amount of content (and a variety of bands?) to stimulate TH-cam's algorithms. "When The World Is Running Down...', from The Police, only took me 2 (and a half) days to finalize, and I'm not exhausted + ready for more).♪ ------------------------------------------ I'm baffled by the utmost simplicity of the arrangements of "When The World Is Running Down".., it's the same four chords, and basslines, for the VERSE, CHORUS, and breakdown/BRIDGE (in which the guitar solo, only strums/plays one note (lol..)). ♪ But above all, this powerful groove is so addictively good, that their musicianship and/or musicality are undeniable. (Andy Summers just turned 81 years young yesterday).♪ In my book, this song is as easy as a guitar chord progression can go, Heck! I'm pretty sure it's easier than learning "Smoke on the Water" which so many musical schools initiate their students with.♪ ----------------------------------------------- From Ukraine to Russia, from Israel to Palestine, from the "wokes" to right-wingers, from the Liberals to conservatives, if you know what I mean, I sincerely wish (and invite) you all less cohesion, biased views, and prejudgments. Life is too short, we are all somewhat ignorant, and we simply can not know everything period. Those chords mesmerized me when I first heard this song. Right after High School Graduation '86 at the Jersey shore with my friends for a week. I heard other Police songs on the radio before that. Never heard that song before that time. That one stuck in my head until I heard it again in College. My roommate had some records he brought with him. Heard other songs from Zenyatta Mondatta. And their other albums. I was becoming a fan, although I never seen them live, and at that point they weren't together anymore were they? I thought this particular song, however, was probably one of the easiest songs to learn on the guitar, just lush chords. Moderate tempo. It's those subtle parts that made it more difficult to get down. Great Job sir! Thanks for upload.

(what a treat for an 11-year-old fellow (lol..).♪ ---------------------------------------- As I'm producing these 2024 "The Police" tutorials, as I analyze my guitar style, I blatantly notice how much I was and am influenced by the aerial and aesthetic of the guitar sound and playing of Andy Summers,. (I really admire that band formation and the 33+ songs I intend to produce on this channel (very shortly by the end of 2025). ♪ ----------------------- BTW, "When The World is Running...", though the easiest chord progression I've animated (yet) on my channel, after having practiced it for a few hours before I undertook to record close to 12 takes, it left me almost with tendinitis for the first time in my short guitar career. There's a high D note that can be heard after the second chord strum. That note only exists on the 10th fret top E string (at the lowest possible position). Did Summers put down 2 guitars? I've listened many many times and that note is there on the recording.

But if you've previously seen some of my (50+) tutorials of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen's solo career, you'll notice that I do use "slashed chords" a lot. Especially, when there are over 40 chord changes in a tutorial. Using them saves considerable space in the real estate within the rectangle over the lyrics. Every time there is a (for example) Gmaj9, and will write D/G instead, as my preferred annotation. ---------------------- My friend, I'm mainly French-speaking, I hope I haven't misunderstood, the appellation "slash chord" Peace, kind regards + respect ;^) ♪ .
