The more a game has (progressives, wheels, lots or no pay lines, special features, etc) the higher the volatility will be. Volatility isn’t a setting, it’s the nature of the program by design. The more the system has to choose from the more volatile it makes the game. With bonuses, wheels, or pick style games, the game has to be heavily weighted towards the lower options. In this case, original buffalo just has the one bonus round, no wheel and no progressives, so it is less volatile than the rest.
I love the Buffalo gold revolution...I've lost on it, but I also have won a lot on it. I watched a woman betting 1.50 win 13,000 with one bonus as it retriggered so many times. It was crazy. Thanks for playing it! I always wondered if you liked it.
Thanks! I once won $875 on a $1.50 bet on Buffalo at the Aria. I shared this with my son who played it at the Ballagio and won $650 on a $.75 bet. Older machines seem to give more and better bonuses and line hits than newer versions. Doesn’t happen all the time, but it can!
Intro is spot on my man. ya guys did great! Can't wait to watch all this buffalo. I've always been a big fan and it's always fun but man have I been schooled hard on it in the past.
I’ve played most of the Buffalo machines out of all I’ve played I’ve done best on the buffalo grand version (1st one you played) the wheel bonus can be quite generous you keep spinning until you hit the free games and can hit multiple progressives in one session. Great video thanks so much for your great content.
I am a Buffalo fan, but I really love Buffalo Link - definitely can be volatile, but the potential is huge, this last weekend, my Buffalo dreams came true & hit the Grand $13K on a $5 bet 🎉 BTW, I did have my lucky Cowboy Slot poker chip with me 😉
What is the difference in strategy between $0.50 bets and $5 bets if $0.50 bets get you more attempts at the same jackpot using the same stake amout? Is it a silly question
@@l3lixx - nope I do all bets - I hit a $1000 Major just last weekend on 50 cents - depends on the game, $5 bets have bigger progressives on Buffalo link, but I still usually bet between $1 - $2 - it depends if you want bigger wins or more play time
I absolutely LOVE your channel! ❤🎰❤ I was surprised to see Buffalo Gold Revolution was high volatility; it’s my favorite Buffalo slot and the only one I’ve got a Jackpot on several times. 🎰🎰🎰
That first buffalo game you played, I won the grand jackpot on. 3.75 bets, third spin, got it. Progressive grand jackpot just has buffalo running at the screen and then boom. Ya win. It’s very surprising lol
The Buffalo Lightning Link is THE most popular slot at my local. You can win most of the time if you can find an empty seat. Otherwise, it takes forever and at $200-300 to get the bonus games. Also, the lightning round is activated by 8 balls instead of 6. Buffalo Chief has the highest progressive, up in the hundreds of thousands.
In my experience, Buffalo Link is the only version worth playing. Free games bonus, a old and spin feature {which can produce some big numbers at lower bets and denoms} and a "must win by 1800" buffalo head counter for a free bonus feature. Seems to be a little less volatile than the others.
This is a fun game and I do experience how volatile it can be. I did receive two really good hand pays on the Buffalo Grand and I also know someone who actually hit the grand. So yes it is possible while few and far between. Thank you for your great reviews and your (and Mark's) expert advice.
Thanks cowboy for the video. I see you took the video about 2 weeks ago, and I'm kind of impressed. The good part about it is that you actually gave it a chance. Buffalo can be really tricky. A lot of people tend to always pay the max, when sometimes you have to start with the small denomination work your way up. The most I've won on the old school Buffalo was $960, and that was on a bonus. One of the other buffaloes ( 4 Wonders, all buffaloes), was $1,100. Unfortunately I never got a chance to get a payout or jackpot. I enjoy your content and your advice thank you for everything.
They switched out the circuit boards on those Buffalos, the old ones. They used to turn the screen black with Buffalo and people were getting 27x on the regular even at minimum bet. Not anymore lol 😂 That and the artificial intelligence is overriding/blocking line ups. Deep sigh 😔 Thanks for the video! ❤️
Just a basic video slot machine question. When a player gets into one of the bonus features, has it already been decided exactly how much the planer is going to win in the feature or is the randomizer, or a different randomizer still active?
This isn't JUST about Buffalo, but.... The other day, i put $20 into an old school Buffalo machine and ended up with seeming endless free spins. Walked away with $325 ish on 40c bets !! Buffalo wasn't so great today. But i was just stopping for a 'drive by'. Walked in with about $280. Was super careless about organizing bankroll. Played some electronic roulette (turned $20 into $60). Then hit some old school triple stars, lucky 7's, etc. Then a few new flashy machines on the way out the door. Bought $60 in automotive supplies, and ended up with $320 when i got home! Hey ! Its STILL winning !! Lol
I got three hand payouts in one day on grand in Boston at the Wynn and 3 hand payouts on buffalo link at the hard rock in Atlantic City . All between 1200-2500 wins
Great video I love watching you play as normal people would it’s entertaining watching other TH-cam channels play $100+ a spin ..but the real life reality keeps me in check! Good luck brother !! 🇺🇸
My strategy is always to leave a cold machine. The first and second appeared to be cold as a witch’s tit, I would have left after the first $100. I’m actually surprised you didn’t get a single bonus on $400. That’s pretty unusual and I gamble at Indian casinos too
I'm completely hooked on Buffalo and wish I wasn't sometimes...lol...Its just my favorite. I recently won $5,700 on 2.40 bet at a newer Buffalo machine at Bellagio.
Not sure which Buffalo game I played today but it was my first time. As far as sounds / gameplay goes it was absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I didnt win huge amounts but the win/loss ratio was great. I don't have enough money invested in this machine to give an honest opinion but ill definitely give it another go. Not the biggest winner of the night but definitely the most entertaining!
Thanks very much for this vid, Cowboy! (I know they don't plan, record, and post themselves.) I really enjoyed watching it for two main reasons. First, when I play slots, it's always Buffalo Gold. I've seen several other variations, but have never been sure how they work, exactly, or how they pay. Your explanations and demos - as well as your helpful, concise graphics - gave me a much better understanding of a couple of them. Second, it was fun to watch playing sessions without knowing ahead of time how they would end. (Usually, the title or the vid's length give that away.) This was much more like experiencing the "real thing". Also -- as long as I'm going all fanboy on your ass here - I learned a lot from your responses to the comments below. Thank you for those, too!
Ugh, I was hoping you were going to get the wheel bonus 😔. I’m a sucker for all the Buffalo games; but recently found your channel and I’m learning more about slots. Thank you so much for all you do.
I play Buffalo Revolution almost exclusively. I've hit it all: big bonuses over $3K on a small bet $.60 bet. I've hit 15 Heads 3X's, won the Major 3X's (once I hit 2 Majors on the same night.🤑) and I've hit the Grand over the years. So I agree that "something" about Ainsworth's programming seems to have changed this game. Too many bonus games that don't pay much over your max bet amount (No Return on Investment)!!🤯 - Bonus games that don't drop any re-trigger extra coins. Or, collecting 15 Heads with 2 spins left and no extra coins dropped - that 15 Head Bonus only paid no more than a low win regular bonus. How can these things happen so consistently? I live in Vegas and gamble this one game all over town at our local casinos - (I won't go on the Strip - that's for tourists). Something seems really "different" about how Buffalo Revolution plays and pays - so I stopped.😢 Now I only play original Buffalo. It's more predictable - just sayin'.
There you go. Buffalo's !!! If there's one machine I'm well versed on it's Buffalo's. Lol. Have been playing them since they first came out which is years ago. Was known as Buffalo Bill in one of my local casinos cuz that's all I played for quite a while. That version you were playing that you said was the original is slightly different than the original. While the screen/machine looks the same it looks like they did something unique that would change the original pay tables on this version. Original buffaloes you could only get one buffalo in the first row. I noticed you got two a couple times. The only time I've ever seen that version, believe it or not, is in an Indian casino in California. Coincidence, I don't know LOL. Probably more out there I just haven't seen them. But having the ability to get to multiple Buffalo's in the first row and even more total buffaloes altogether then the original, to me would change the pay tables and make it a little more volatile than the original Buffalo. More less than your bet wins overall. Next came the Buffalo Deluxe, which gave you the option to pick how many spins you would like to go for based on the multipliers in the bonus. Then Buffalo Gold which were a little higher in volatility but still a fun machine and has a tease feature after you get the first two of the three bonus symbols. Interestingly some of the Deluxe have that tease feature also and some don't. After those Aristocrat just went crazy with the new versions they were bringing out with each one being higher and higher in volatility. Prettier and more different types of bonuses but risk reward much higher. Keep butts in the seat types. I would say some of the newer versions rival 'Links' machines in the nickel and dime you to death. Don't know if it's possible but over the years the in the bonus, payback volatility seems to have got worse on the originals. Don't know if that's possible unless there's a bonus chip that can be set different than the base game chip when it hits the floor. But say unlike Double Diamond, you cannot find a casino that does not have a buffalo machine of some type. Penny money makers. Max bet was also $2 originally. The original version that are $4 or higher nowadays are like legalized robbery. When I see Buffalo's in the high limit rooms I turn and run. Lol. I won't play any versions higher than the Buffalo Gold nowadays unless you like extremely high volatility. Sorry this turned into an essay. LOL
I have won three jackpots over $3000 at the various casinos I like to attend here in Michigan, two of those jackpots were on Buffalo slots, the other was a Quick Hit slot....
I won $1189 on Buffalo Gold betting only 60 cents. I love that it came in just under a hand-pay. At the end, I was screaming "please no more" because I didn't want a hand-pay. This was at the Atlantis in Reno where I've won all of my big jackpots.
My Favorite game. I prefer the original OLD version. For the average player, it may not be their cup of tea. Because you do need a bit of a bank roll. For me, that bank roll is $300.00. $200.00 is to low and $300.00 can usually get you into at least one Bonus. I've had and seen some very small Bonuses though. At the same time, I've seen people bet $3.00 to $6.00 per roll. And when the Bonus is good, they walked away with nearly $20,000.00. And high betters walk away with hundreds of thousands. Basically everything depends on getting a lot of (Re-triggers) 2 and 3 and 4 Wheels during the bonus. And then all 15 Gold Buffalo. Because once you have 15 Gold Buffalo, all the other animals turn into Buffalo's. And that's when the money piles in over and over if you can keep getting re-triggers, (Free Plays). It's a lot of fun, but highly addicting.
I have always wondered if the outcome of free games are predetermined. I only bring this up, because I’ve been playing around with writing code on my desktop for slot games, mostly based on RWB Sevens, Double Diamond, etc. and if my computer can run through a million spins in two minutes, surely these games can determine 15-20 free spins before they even occur. Between your channel, Home Slots Fun, and Vegas Education, I’ve learned quite a bit about slots, and almost have my own versions of my favorite games programmed on my pc. (I’m in TN, where owning machines is illegal, so I have to make my own😂)
I think you are right because when you win a chance at a mini/minor/major it gives you lots of chances to pick but I always get the three that lead to the minor 😂
Yes they are a fun game to play. You sure hit that 'old school' machine when is was COLD. Must have just 'paid out' before you sat down. I've played enough of them to know. I was saying to myself, "cash out that one's done''.....Gold is really fun too. The Diamond Buffalo is my least favorite.
What is the difference in strategy between $0.50 bets and $5 bets if $0.50 bets get you more attempts at the same jackpot using the same stake amout? Is it a silly question
dang ; cowboy 🤠 you really know what you are talking about you be spot on with these games I love watching your channel I've missed you on Wednesday nights I've been sick but I will catch up on what I missed GOD BLESS 🙏 STAY SAFE ❤️😘
Hi Cowboy! I've been told 2 different things. 1) switch denom AND bets often if bonuses aren't coming. 2)don't switch very much. Which is right? How do you know when to switch?
As for the programming, each denom is programmed independently and they do not talk to one another as they have separate accounting records as well. So its possible one denom may perform better than another. As for bet amount, the machine doesnt change or distinguish one amount over another if your on the same denom unless that particular game states it in the game rules. There are some new versions of buffalo for example that the odds increase the more you bet, as well as on some versions of Dragon Links, the amount of lines changes with the bet amount. As for what to do, It's really up to you what you feeling. I will change denoms at times to see if one is performing better than another. Hope this helps!
Always love Buffalo games. Favorite is gold and the old school machine. We've done well with it out in Wendover, but other times not so much. Love the channel brother! Keep em coming!
Love the Buffalo Gold game hung out with my Mom and changed all those symbols to buffalos and had the time of my life for 1.20 a spin thanks for the others to keep my eye for
I didn't realize there were so many different Buffalo versions. Usually if I hit a bonus I move on not to wait for another one on same machine. But one never knows.
I played the new version of triple double stars by igt yesterday and got a $500 dollar hit. I watched for patterns and it payed of your advice is the best.
Played this last weekend. Mind you played the first one you showcased and never won. But this one? I won $800 2x in the bonuses. This is my new favorite! So 2 single spins in two separate bonuses gave me back everything I lost in one night. Took 10 minutes. I was done after that!
Buffalo gold revolution can be a good game, it has given me the major on two different machines when they were close to being 1,000 dollars. Any version of Buffalo can be a high hitting machine or just take all you put into. I will say the original old school buffalo machines do seem to pay out a higher amount on line hits and is a very good low rolling game where you can play 1 to all 5 reels and does retrigger often.
Always seems like I either win a lot or lose a lot when playing Buffalo machines. When I was at Wild Horse Pass in AZ last week I did see a guy get a hand pay of just over $7K on the Gold version. There are 8 or 9 of them arranged in a large circle dead smack in the middle of the casino. Pretty sure max bet on them is around $6 though. Too high for me at present.
I thought you said to stay away from penny slots...if a person can change the denomination like a nicle or dime do you know if betting higher likens your odds at winning? Would same RNG turn the spins the SAME whether penny or dimes?
I use to play a lot of Blazing 7’s with a single progressive and could see the set amount on my bets. But, with the multi progressives like Buffalo it looks like the machine adds to each meter simultaneously making the climb slower.
Boy they got the graphics on point. But I stopped playing it because I hit the bonus round at max bet and received 9 dollars for free games plus a single retrigger
Some games can have different payouts or amounts the more lines you bet. It’s not too common but some games have that. I’d have to check out the game :-)
Well like you said I'm also those Penny machines specially in Buffalo you have to increase it in other words if it's one cent go to 5 cents let's say and then Max that usually that's going to put your running around four or five six dollars but it will pay off a lot more
If you have a buffalo game we can play three lines about $.50 or less but every time any of the things come up you get your money back three Jack’s money back three kings money back are those good Odds
That was the best Buffalo of the three you played. It is such a dismal game, a money pit!!! Glad you came away with something. I would have played the last game myself but with a lower bet and a lot less money. Hopefully you can do the latest version of the Buffalo which is just another money pit...dry well...vacuum cleaner for money. LOL.
I hit $13k on Golden Steed last month. $3.75 max bet. Usually play video poker but it was tier credit multiplier and slots payed more tier credits. Not sure how to add pic. Pulled another 1k next day, my new "lucky" machine. Harrahs Socal
The more a game has (progressives, wheels, lots or no pay lines, special features, etc) the higher the volatility will be. Volatility isn’t a setting, it’s the nature of the program by design. In this case, original buffalo just has the one bonus round, no wheel and no progressives, so it is less volatile than the rest.
Hi Cowboy! I often play Buffalo gold got a pretty good hit about a week ago with my free play and just the other day I went in and lost my butt two days in a row on Buffalo gold so absolutely very volatile machine it usually allows you to play a lot longer- I play it a lot.. but the last two times have been very poor
Just for CLARITY: You played "Buffalo Gold REVOLUTION" - NOT - "Buffalo GOLD". There is such a game title "Buffalo Gold Collection" which you didn't play. It is a progressive without the spin wheel. The best one, IMO, was Buffalo Stampede, which is nowhere to be found in my area anymore.
How do I figure out volatility before playing?

The Buffalo Lightning Link is THE most popular slot at my local. You can win most of the time if you can find an empty seat. Otherwise, it takes forever and at $200-300 to get the bonus games. Also, the lightning round is activated by 8 balls instead of 6. Buffalo Chief has the highest progressive, up in the hundreds of thousands.

I won $1189 on Buffalo Gold betting only 60 cents. I love that it came in just under a hand-pay. At the end, I was screaming "please no more" because I didn't want a hand-pay. This was at the Atlantis in Reno where I've won all of my big jackpots.
Congratulations! I am very new to slot machine playing, why wouldn’t you want a hand pay ? I would think that’s a good thing, no? TY!
@@serahtraore on handpays you have to pay taxes. 1,000 is better than 1,200 because after taxes, its like 800
@@monarchbutterfly3154 ohh gotcha! Do you know the percentage on taxes for them? I assume it’s different in every state? Would you know for NV?
@@serahtraore usually 30%
@@monarchbutterfly3154 thank you!
I like Buffalo game too. I play each version and I seem to do better on the buffalo gold. I find it hard to get free spins on the old Buffalo slot.
I was in Vegas couple weeks ago I hit $875.00 on the same Buffalo Gold within 10 minutes it was fun,.. Thank for the video🤠🤠
I won my 1st handpay a couple of years ago when Buffalo Gold Revolution first came out. It was a little over thirteen hundred$ on a 3$ bet.
What's your view on selecting denominations
Definitely appreciate you reviewing these games
The Grand game is a win big, lose big game. I hit a $3600 line pay during the bonus round. I had 150 buffalo, with a 2x multiplier, on a $3 bet
What is the difference in strategy between $0.50 bets and $5 bets if $0.50 bets get you more attempts at the same jackpot using the same stake amout? Is it a silly question
@@l3lixx $.50 cents bets will get you more attempts, but if you hit something at $5 dollars the amount that you win will be much greater.
Buffalo is that game that you really want to win big on but never do!!!!
dang ; cowboy 🤠 you really know what you are talking about
you be spot on with these games
I love watching your channel
I've missed you on Wednesday nights I've been sick but I will catch up on what I missed
GOD BLESS 🙏 STAY SAFE ❤️😘
Good job on the last game buffalo revolution. 👍 Thanks for sharing. More buffalos.
Buffalooooooo my to go game 👍👍👍👍
Buffalo Gold is my machine too , I
Always win
Playing at the convenience store near me
I've changed my bet after $100 & increased it by about double & had many more wins & larger wins
Always love Buffalo games. Favorite is gold and the old school machine. We've done well with it out in Wendover, but other times not so much. Love the channel brother! Keep em coming!
Really miss the Wendover flights
@@gernblanston4956 we never flew but I know alot of people liked the flights.
@@PatrickAdams307Music , we did many times, had a blast
Love the Buffalo Gold game hung out with my Mom and changed all those symbols to buffalos and had the time of my life for 1.20 a spin thanks for the others to keep my eye for
I love the new setup you're doing with the audio and camera. Looks and sounds really good!
Thank you for these nicely done videos.
Congratulations on your bounces, winnings too!
I didn't realize there were so many different Buffalo versions. Usually if I hit a bonus I move on not to wait for another one on same machine. But one never knows.
Your casino is so quiet. See why you like it there 😀 Love your intro
Yup. That's what Buffalo does to me too
Buffalo Gold never let me down
Buffalo gold revolution can be a good game, it has given me the major on two different machines when they were close to being 1,000 dollars.
Too high for me at present.
saw a guy hit for 11 grand sat nite at lone butte ..... he was playing 15 smackers a spin and filled the screen in the bonus
I thought you said to stay away from penny slots...if a person can change the denomination like a nicle or dime do you know if betting higher likens your odds at winning? Would same RNG turn the spins the SAME whether penny or dimes?
I like the review video interesting to see your take on different games.
Is there a set percentage for each progressive to up per spin and is it based upon the size of the bet? Is this the same for all progressives ?
Correct. Most progressives add a set amount based on the coin in.
I have found that the more you bet on original Buffalo or it's sister game, Timberwolf, the less it pays out. Is that a thing or is it just me?
Some games can have different payouts or amounts the more lines you bet. It’s not too common but some games have that. I’d have to check out the game :-)
Well like you said I'm also those Penny machines specially in Buffalo you have to increase it in other words if it's one cent go to 5 cents let's say and then Max that usually that's going to put your running around four or five six dollars but it will pay off a lot more
If you have a buffalo game we can play three lines about $.50 or less but every time any of the things come up you get your money back three Jack’s money back three kings money back are those good Odds
It seems like you should play half the maximum to win. These sessions are like all my sessions, when I go to the casino..
Those buffalo's are money maker for casinos
Do you ever force a stop when the machine starts to line up?
Buffalo Buffalo, buffalo, Buffalo Buffalo, Buffalo Buffalo.
I have won 2 1400.handpays on old school buffalo with s 1.20 bet.each.time
Hey Cowboy, thanks for the info on Buffalo, it helps!
Native casinos tend to have the worst payouts from my experiences, I avoid them anymore - my experience always ends just like this
I like Buffalo Original on Wonder 4. I do play Buffalo Link, however, I don't like that you need the 8 buffaloes to get the spins.
How do you find the volatility level of games? Bc I love the old school Konami games. Like, Raw hide , African Diamond, Chip city.
Would anyone know 15:38 find the batteries in the original Buffalo machine and what kind? Please & thank you!
I hit $1786 at the vegas airport on my way back to Boston. Edit: in buffalo gold $2.40 bet
Didn't find the Cleopatra series, one of my favorites
The most I have won on Buffalo is $356.00. Fun when you get the bonus which is difficult.
Might be the most accurate playing of buffalo ever. Lose $180 lose 197 win $238 lol
Hi Cowboy! I often play Buffalo gold got a pretty good hit about a week ago with my free play and just the other day I went in and lost my butt two days in a row on Buffalo gold so absolutely very volatile machine it usually allows you to play a lot longer- I play it a lot.. but the last two times have been very poor
Lol, the one he called highest volatility hit the most.
I’ve seen some other slot players that there’s a higher chance of a jackpot if the volume is maxed out, is this true?
I love this game, I won good but only when I bet the lowest amount, I won $70 off $12.00. great game, I love it,
Yes we have this machinecin canada
How can you check low medium and high volatility and machines at any casino ?
I watched this video but still can't figure out what wins and what doesn't. How about a video on the Buffalo rules of play. That would be awesome!
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
