Thanks for posting this video. I saw this clip instantly fell in love and want to visit.
I'm strongly considering driving from Malcesine on Garda up thru Trento and Bolzano to the Sella Pass, then going down to Venice this December. Do you think, if it's not snowing or raining, this would be a doable drive then? It looks really well plowed. Planning on leaving Malcesine 7am the latest.
I'm from Boston so I am used to driving in the snow on terrible roads, but I wouldn't want to crash and get stranded in the Dolomites. I'll rent a car with AWD, snow tires, and some good handling.

Hi ! That’s a great route that you’re planning. But I would strongly consider to stay in the Dolomites area for a night. Malcesine, Passo Sella and Venice are quite far from each other .. it is doable but I don’t know if you enjoy 6-7 hours in the car in one day .. the roads are mostly always well maintained, there are many tourists in this area so everything needs to runs smoothly … but you should always have chains with you if there is fresh snow. Have a great day 🤗

Thanks for the advice. I am coming with friends so we will split up the driving evenly and leave early hoping to get to Venice by 7pm to drop off the car. The drive itself looks really nice and I love driving honestly. I think that should give us a good 4-5 hours to eat breakfast, dinner, take some pictures at scenic stops, stretch our legs, etc. but like you said it must go smoothly.
But...maybe I will find a night somewhere up there like you say. Unfortunately we are only able to come for a week this year so it's a bit tight.

Can I ask was it difficult to drive during winter time in Italy? If I have zero experience driving in the snow, based on your experience would you recommend me to try ?

Well it´s hard to say because I don´t know what kind of roads you are used to. But I must say that Italian roads are very well maintained, they really take care of the roads here and shovel the snow on regular basis, even few times daily. Maybe just don´t drive on fresh snow, use tires and drive slowly you should be absolutely fine.
