Did you notice the difference between Abuela's story from when she's telling Mirabel when she was a child and now, when Mirabel is 15? The first version has obviously been censored for the sake of a young child, but the grief evident in the "real" version is just... *chef's kiss*

I'm like how this movie doesn't have a villain. It shows that sometimes the biggest problems come from within. Some people say Mirabel is an unrelatable character, but she is. You take away the magic anyone who has a big family who are really talented and you have a disability or can't do things the rest of your family can do, you feel regretful you can't help. Anyone else notice that a lot of the problems came from not talking about your problems. And the grandmother was trying to make everything perfect and trying to hide from the problem. And blaming Bruno getting blamed for problems when he was just warning what going to happen. How easy it is to misunderstand what is suppose to happen. They thought to save the miracle was connecting with her sister, but it was confronting grandmother how she was trying to hard to keep her family together with their abilities. I just like how they do come back together. Encanto is the best of the year. 🕯 🐆💐

I love how they tried to make it *seem* like there was a villain at first but then he turns out to be the most wholsome character. And him being wholesome but being outcasted is the entire point of the plot. That high expectations ruined them

    • @TheRawrnstuff
      @TheRawrnstuff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I'd argue the Abuela is the villain - not a malicious one, but her conviction is the main source of the tragedy taking place. That's not that terribly removed from villains such as Rollo from Disney's 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
It is not before Maribel shouts at her face, in public, that "the miracle is dying because of you" and then losing the house she holds so dear when she realizes where she's wrong. That scene is the "final battle" of the movie.

Can we talking about Bruno being a homie? Bruno resembles his father. He's selfless, loves his family enough to separate himself from them and 'sacrifice' himself if that means that his family would be happy. Just like his father did.
He was described as Seven foot frame by Camilio (shape-shifting boy) probably because he was a kid and Bruno just seemed tall to him. Plus after years of hearing bad stories about it, it probably elevated that image to about seven foot, towering, creepy man.

lighter around her the way the other doors are) confirms that Mirabel's door is the front door, which is why her first door ceremony didn't work. Her power is to be the heart of the family, and (I suspect) the head of the community after Abuela, and the whole HOUSE is her room.

I really love Camilo’s part in We Don’t Talk About Bruno cause it illustrates how different perspectives can make something or someone look completely different. Of course Bruno isn’t 7 feet tall and he doesn’t stalk people’s dreams or eat scrams, but Camilo was a little kid when he left and grew up learning to fear Bruno for his gift. The impression he has of Bruno is a combination of the stories he was told his whole life and a little kid’s imagination and exaggeration of his own memories.

"7-foot frame". Camillo said this because when Bruno left he was 5-6 years old, and when you are little everyone around seems to be tall😂. "When he calls your name it all fades to black" there is also an assumption about this phrase, in one of Bruno's night outings for food, he met Camilo, and Camilo got scared, when Bruno tried to explain that he would not harm him, Camilo fainted

And/or: Bruno can make his eyes glow green when he isn't prophesying and use it as a flashlight. When Bruno realized he was scaring his nephew, he said "sorry, Camilo" and turned off the eye-light...he didn't realize the sudden darkness would also be scary.

That was confirmed by Lin Manuel Miranda himself in an interview; he said that this movie was MUCH more complicated than anything they'd done before because they strove to have them _all_ be equal in importance and relevance, not just the one or two main characters like most movies. I don't know if somebody explained this already but the "miércoles" part is an expression we use a lot, because it sounds close to "mierda". So it's like saying "shoot" instead of "shit".

Abuela married Pedro, then had triplets: Bruno, Julieta and Pepa.
Pepa married Felix and they had three kids: Dolores (22), Camilo (15) and Antonio (5)
    Bruno never married
Julieta married Austin and they also had three kids: Isabella (22), Luisa (19) and Mirabelle (15)

I loved the fact that Camilo's description of Bruno is so perfect. He would have been very young when Bruno disappeared, maybe six or seven, and all adults seem huge to little kids. Combined with all the fear the adults had of him and the hush-hush nature of him, it's natural he'd remember him as a boogeyman.

    1. Yes, young abuela looks a lot like Isabella. Which is why abuela strives for her to be perfect, marry mariano (who looks an awful lot like pedro), and have the life she couldn't.
    2. Antonio is five
    3. Miercoles , from what ive heard, is like a silly substitue for the actual cussword mierda . like a kids version, but im not hispanic/latine, so idk lol

I've seen more than one spend all of Surface Pressure just vibing, like "Look at the strong lady dancing with donkeys and juggling a house!" So much is missed by skipping over that dialogue.

The way that Disney has been exploring the many faces and complications of love is spectacular, and speaks to the great wisdom of our children. True love can be: sisters, sacrifice, companionship, or competing agendas. Love for others is what makes us vulnerable to their manipulations, or it is the vulnerability that wounds us enough to hurt others. Love drives us to challenges and it can make us hide away for years. Fairy tales gave way to reality and the results are beautiful.

Her power is simple yet most important she is the Heart of the House because she is the heart of the family, if you notice each one gets a power based on what they liked or was already good at. The sister who was strong became mega strong the pretty one became stunningly beautiful and grew perfect Rose's. The animal lover became king of the animal kingdom, from the beginning all marbella talked about was her family. So her power is to support her family, to help strengthen there gifts simply by helping them and encouraging them. After all was her sister always able to grow more then just Rose's? Or was she able to because she was interacting with her sister and her sisters powers where affecting and changing hers.

That river really exists and is called Caño Cristales.
The valley also exists and is called the Valle de Cocora.
There is also a little town called Salento.
Every building, animal, plant, tree, flower, object, color are real.
You may also be interested in watching this video about El Encanto Nature Reserve @
Actually the expression "miércoles" is like "shoot"... i mean is an elegant form to say "sh..t"...
The Grandma´s story is the story of 99% of Colombian families. Due to the political violence of the last 100 years, some family member has had to live exactly the same situation.
Despite all the difficult situations, Colombians can still say that we are happy and that my house is also your house.
Disney thanks for showing us to the world as we are without stereotypes and Thank you for your reaction.

My friend has a theory that Mira didn't get a door because her gift is her connection to the house. Casita responds more to her than any of the other Madrigals except MAYBE Abuela. So she doesn't get a door because she's set to inherit the whole house and be the new matriarch after Abuela. I don't know if I agree, but it's a solid fan theory

So, I think Mirabel's power is that she's the new candle and low key Abuela's successor. Mirabel doesn't get a bedroom door, she gets/is the whole Casita. Her door is the front door. And the power represented on is is the whole family. Her gift is being the one to hold the family and community together for the next generation like her grandmother did for hers (albeit in a new way to fit a new period in time).

My family is really huge…my great grandma (who just passed away…rip) had 9 kids, over 100 grandkids, and about 30 + great grandkids.
We’re all very close to each other so I count them all as immediate family.
People are so confused when I tell them how much family I have just on my moms side alone or when I tell them how many siblings I have (around 15-20). But to me, a big family is the norm lol.
Btw, does anyone know where Rival is from?
