I love Céline and gave this a thumbs up, yet based on this performance there’s too much distance between her voice then and now to do this song justice. Her tone is still there, and she chooses her spots to create some fireworks, but the gut wrenching feeling of the original is lost. I’d love to hear her rework songs like this one in a way that still creates goosebumps, but doesn’t require so much vocal strength and considerable support from her backup singers. Voices age, they can’t do exactly what they used to, so create a more hospitable environment for what your voice does well now.
