It was the hottest day of the year, I went to the garden shop, i am really wanting to grow lettuce maybe but it's mid summer and I don't want to attract bugs into where I grow, I grow inside my apartment so I just purchased a Thai basil, I can make cuttings from it FOREVER hopefully, the Thai basil I purchased has very thick stems and looks pretty dense, it's now in a 20cm self watering Roman pot with scotts osmocote premium plus potting mix! I assume after it's roots stimulate into the nice moist place I put it then it will grow some new bright green colour leafs and purple flowers!

Hey Vasili. I reckon rats/mice often have a go at galls before the adults emerge often doing a lot of serious damage and presumably getting a protein feed from the pupating grubs.

So expensive to purchase a plant. 2 out of 3 of mine died! Not sure what i did. Looks like the survivor gets a hard prune and repot.

If you still have the ones that died, check to see if there's any green in the stalks - happened to my 3 as well. I repotted into a good mix and gave them all a hard prune and they all came back

Earwigs are destroying my vegetable garden, oil and soya sauce traps are not working. 😢 They ate 40 lettuce seedlings in one night.

Scrunch up moist newspaper into an old garden pot or three and leave them around your vegie garden. Over nights they congregate into the "paper habitat" and you can dispose them once the paper has attracted enough of them!
