You apologized for absolutely no reason this video was 20/10. Hands down the best black myth guide I’ve found since the game came out. That breakdown for the frames when you can and can’t cancel out of the light attack combo was BEASTY.
Don't worry you're not alone lol. There was a time when I had the reflexes to master this, unfortunately games back then didn't usually have these kinds of mechanics.
"See Through" is a direct translation (bad translation) of 看穿, which actually means anticipated, predicted. That red-green highlight part is amazingly helpful! Thanks.
What the other guy said. Apologize because this was your first guide video? Bro this was the best guide video I’ve ever seen for a game. You broke it down in the developer’s terminology, related to us in how “WTF did that even mean” jokes then gave us what we needed to know I’m a quick and simple follow up. This is exactly what I’m looking g for in a “guide video”
This is by far the best video regarding these gameplay mechanics. Very thorough and informative. Although it does make me feel like I suck at the game now.
Great vid. The Black Bear Guai from chapter 1 actually says something about “seeing through is what wise men do” before you fight him so it’s a VERY useful mechanic. Pro-tip : if you execute a counterflow, it will only nullify 1 attack so try to leave it for the end of an enemies attack strings.
I really like how you explained this. The move description can be a little confusing and your visual and verbal explenation was on point! Thank You!! And I say more videos like this, would be AWESOME!!!!
Super helpful video! The editing is absolutely peak, it really keeps everything clear and engaging. Thanks for putting in the effort, man, it really shows! You definitely earned a new subscriber!
bro, first video of this type? stellar, absolutely TOP. Myself on 4th playthrough atm and I learned soo much. (still no platinum because the stupid drop rate of liquorice LOL)
I progressed far enough that most of these are no longer new to me, but I watched the whole thing regardless because it's a really good and entertaining guide.
I know all the people who have trouble comprehending skill descriptions absolutely love you right now bro, you’ve helped them tremendously. Great video. Edit: also I can’t stress this enough, make sure yall are actually memorizing the bosses attack patterns it really makes a tremendous difference in your fight
Hands down one of the best formats and execution of said format I've ever seen in these type of educational gaming content videos. Seriously, I've seen thousands of these videos, and your ability to convey complex information in an incredibly concise, dense, efficient and easy-to-comprehend format is praise-worthy. Big ups, teapot, you earned yourself a subscriber with this one. PS! Please stop apologizing :D
Actually, having rewatched this again today, I feel like the whole apologetic, "are you still with me/watching?"-thing, is actually a lot smarter than I thought. It's a lot like telling someone "I want you to listen carefully of what I am about to say next, as it might sound complex and you might not understand it. But please try to focus and follow my chain of thought" or the likes, where you trigger than "Challenge Accepted!"-attitude and want to prove them wrong that you understand, and can follow along. With this in mind, this video got even better. I might be over-analyzing this sh*t though :D
I like what you have done. Clear, concise, and detailed to a fault. I'm confident to say that half the youtubers out there aren't able to do the same, and they are pretty vague as they either don't understand the system themselves, or they're just copying others. Kudos to you, i particularly like how you segregated the red/green frames to help people visualise the counterattack window, that was awesome!!! Keep it up!! Liked and subbed!!!
Nice to finally have a youtuber who's doing more than just translating the tooltips into more understandable language. I appreciate the thorough breakdown for BOTH stances that the mechanic works for as well as the visualization of the animation frames inside the combo that allow for the "see through" trigger. Nice video!
Definitely earned a sub from me! Fantastic video, my guy! BMW is my favorite game of the entire year, and I'm on ng+ rn, but I have been needing a better explanation on the frames and timing. Excellent video. I hope I can play it as well as you someday! Kudos, dude KUDOS
was looking up how to do counters in wukong (first time gamer here, just got my first console of my life, PS5) and wukong is the first game I purchased. 14h in and currenty struggling with Black Loong in chapter - leared countering from this vid will try to style on him now - excellent vid man gained a sub
Its a little hard to notice but there's a bit of "red mist" on your light attacks when they collide with the enemy. Great way to find the timing of when you can see-throug. Great vid, learned a lot
Nice video breaking down this see through mechanic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 What makes this see through mechanic is tricky to execute is that only the 4th light attack move of staff weapon that has cancel animation that can follow up to heavy attack to execute the see through mechanic easier. But if you use spear weapon, the 2nd and the 3rd light attack move have the same cancel animation as the 4th light attack of staff weapon. The 1st light attack of spear also has shorter animation than the 1st light attack of staff. So it's much easier to execute the see through mechanic with spear than staff. Other thing that helps me a lot to execute the see through mechanic much more easier is the "All Ears" skill from "Fuming Ears" relic that can be unlocked after finishing the chapter 2. This skill increases the window time to execute the see through mechanic, especially the see through mechanic from the resolute counterflow of the smash stance.
I was looking for this kind of detailed explanation and visuals for loooong time between other hundreds CC's, you topped all of them. Much appreciated for this. Sub from me and looking forward for this format videos even if it repeats itself in content with others, you make it more consumable :D
Great video! Keep making this kind of ingame tutorials, some others they just stay in the instruction. I think the best thing to do for practice this is to make slow combos at first until it you read the monkey’s movement.
This is so useful, thanks so much! I was finding the mechanic pretty inconsistent, but I just didn’t realise the “see through” window was limited to the second half of each animation
That's great content. You should tell people what videos you're working on next and ask people to subscribe. I know it's cheeky but asking really does work.
Bro… you got my sub. #139. I’ve already completed the game and I’m going back through to get anything I missed and finish upgrades and such and this guide has made ng+ even more a push over for me. I’m having so much fun trying to master this combat, reminds me of Sekiro. Anyway, keep up the amazing work, you’ll go far, I’m sure.
For those that don't know, although it is not stated in Pillar Stance, using a Varied Combo to go into Sweeping Gale also counts as "Seeing Through" an attack although it's more of a "Dodge" than a "Counter Attack" but it still negates damage if done correctly at the proper time just like all other Varied Combos this also applies to Churning Gale just like Skyfall Strike. Happy Countering!
Great guide, one note - you can do see-through without focus point with Endeavor talent (last passive skill in staff stances, lower left) - it says Varied combos, but see through as well.

Agree with all the good stuff below, extremely well made and thanks for leaving in a few times failing with the thrust stance.... they're always just a lil too far lol
First off, I did get a few chuckles from those clips. Secondly great coverage of the info. Thirdly Evanescence seems to count as a "see-through" I get the benefit of tiger tendon from landing it. That makes me think Nick of Time from Rock Solid also benefits from it.
Wow, I just found the video of literally what's inside my head but for some reason, there are voices also in my head saying your generic PS5 controller can't keep up with this kind of precision constantly. The moment I'm trying to counter my controller input stops working and it's telling me I need to time my generic PS5 controller also. Any real-time advice? Note: By the way, the best video of breaking this specific method in the entire universe, and for the love of God I'm not even kidding. You are the chosen one.
That explains it. YOU HAVE TO LET THEM HIT YOU TO COUNTERATTACK. I was treating it like a parry, where I would hit the heavy attack BEFORE I got hit. Never worked.
This is an awesome mechanic to break away from the typical parry combat style. If you really think about it, it's almost like the Arkham style counter but without the glowing indicator and a much smaller window, but way more powerful.

You don’t need a quick reflect to do this, you need pattern recognition and timing. Most attacks are highly telegraphed so you can anticipate them.

thanks. been wondering wth does see through mean in this game's context
Its pretty clear. They even highlight the word. See Through is just s.
I think call it a foresight counter is more accurate.
It pretty sure other people call it parry, just like how people call tenacity from the bull king armor set poised
