  • Today on World Currency Collector we're traveling to Lithuania to check out the Talonas and Litas banknotes. We'll learn all about Pick numbers in banknote collecting. Then we’ll check out the charging knight on the Lithuanian national coat of arms called Vytis, sage and rosemary, the grey heron and the grey wolf, writers Žemaitė and Motiejus Valančius, pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas, and famed poet Maironis.

    Lithuania did not adopt Euro in 2004 when it joined EU. It adopted Euro in 1 January 2015

      since 2002 Euro and Litas was tided together (exange rate was constant 3.45 Litas for 1 Euro)

    Ive been all around lithuania and ive met only 2 people who speak latvian, it would've been better to say that lithuanians also speak russian (like many ex-ussr countries) as an unofficial language.
    On a side-note you should've talked about the cultural facts relating to lithuania when talking about some of the illiustrations. (ex.: How the wolfs depicted on the talonas simbolize a dream grand duke gediminas had, which featured an iron wolf howling on a hill, on which he then built Gedimino pilis (Gediminas' Castle).)

    You convinced me! I went and bought a few more banknotes from the ones shown. And I love your voice, it's very soothing, like of a nice teacher. But it would be helpful if you would do some research on the pronunciation of foreign names/words, before you pronounce them on camera.

    talonas was used betwen 1990 and 1993 it was temporary money until 1993 then until lituanian litas as aopted
