Thank you so much for your comment! Nerve pain doesn't necessarily go away, but it can be controlled. I take Neurontin (gabapentin) for nerve pain and it's made such a difference in my life. I'd say about 85-90% of the nerve pain is eased. I still get some tingling and itching in my extremities and sometimes, particularly if I've been standing too long, I get a cold sensation from the knees down. However, it's nothing compared to the intensity of what it was like before I started te meds.
Just want to mention that there are other meds that can be taken for nerve pain. Usually doctors will try Lyrica (pregabalin) first. Unfortunately, I had some rare adverse effects from it, but it was REALLY rare. My mom, on the other hand, can't tolerate neurontin but is doing marvelously on Lyrica.
