I'm an American in Chennai and feel so lucky that Colombo is a mere hour flight. Sri Lanka is a criminally underrated country--easily one of my favs. Every visit is something new: Yala, Sigiriya, Weligama, Wellawaya, Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, Kandalama... I'm just in awe every time.
Sinhalese people never tried to grab other countries or parts of other countries by force throughout the history. Americans, British people and Indians create a bad picture about our country. But ancestors of Sinhalese people had come from ALNILAM as first human beings on the Earth. So we still have invisible powers and blessings from the universe.

Dear Lucie, as an over 10 year resident of this beautiful country, who is married to a Sri Lankan (whom I also met while volunteering) I would just like to gently remind you that you and I are guests of this country and it’s lovely people who welcome us with open arms. My husband and I live in the richly historical and sacred Kandy City and I am sorry that you felt it necessary to criticize after such a quick visit. Kandy is a wonderful place to live and it’s people are very distinctive culturally. They display the best of manners and gentility when treated with respect and courtesy. If we choose to live here then let us celebrate the differences from our home countries rather than criticize and disparage.

Usually people post pictures when they are up on the top of the tower. It’s definitely not my type of place , watching you guys climb made my feet go tingling. I can see on top of the tower on the stairs there is a plastic bottle. Our people are so bad. They do not care or know how to look after such a natural beauty, nature. Hay ho.. . hi again lucie you must try adams peak SRI PADA ,i did it once 8 pm to 5 am you walk all night uphill all the way and steps galore without any safety measures ,at the top the steps are very narrow ,at the top freezing cold its a once in a lifetime experience and would make a brilliant subject for your channel
Your visit to Kandy was short but I’m happy you made the best of it. Yes, Kandy is heavily populated, polluted in most areas and very noisy. People in small communities do what they can, to clean other’s mess. There are boards put up, advising the public to refrain from littering. Nothing works. But, there’s an ambience here that is unique. ❤️
Hi lucie watch out for those low candles ,i once saw a women's sari catch light in that very temple as she got so near ,and wow you have learnt to drive in sri lanka ,i have been a driver for half a century now and sri lanka tops it all worse than india ,so never take anything to chance god bless you both xx

In your Q& R clips, I just want you to know.. that, don’t take starring as an insult as the most Sri Lankans looks at you with Awe… not an insult..some of them never seeing a white face and they are so curious and may be watching you with respect… so don’t take it as a threat… just ignore…I know they looks like frowning at you or too much satire.. but they don’t mean any harm. Some of them live like frogs inside a well…they don’t know anything about outside world.. so you are very interesting to them. Please feel home..and your comments about the animal cruelty and horrible bus drivers are very true and so glad you mentioned about that. You are so admired and appreciated… you are an hero in my eyes…so true and pure..your words and actions are so powerful, you are brutally honest and live your life as a real Buddhist should be.

Honestly, Kandy is so nice! Not too hot and not too cold. Beautiful scenery. I grew up there in a village and was so nice. Live in Canada now and miss awesome Kandy. Thanks to Lahiru, I now say "look at thaaaat" to myself sometimes :)

Yes some areas in Kandy are polluted and over populated but still there are so many other places tranquil and clean you have not visited yet.Please don't misjudge all of Kandy the same. Kandy is one of the most beautiful towns of Sri Lanka except few neglected maintained areas.
