Transmitted Friday 19 December 1980 at 4.45pm The first series with Stu Francis, totally forgettable title music unlike the Chas and Dave titles that followed. This was also the final series to include Double or Drop (although it is not included in this edition). Fantastic upload, brilliant many thanks.
That Barnum routine from Torvill and Dean is still a thing to behold, even now ... and I don't even _like_ ice skating! They'll never be bettered as a pair.
Great enjoyed this as a kid, can you imagine this show today, smashing plates and tennis’s balls, health and safety would not have this, song victimising a parking enforcement officer & making fun of her weight and a bear called nookie Plus the crankys would never happen 😂
Hi Georgia. I posted the clip to TH-cam. Glad to have helped you find it. I'm one of the boys who is one of the other contestants (by my full name, Adrian). Say hello to your auntie Dawn for me! Cheers, Ade
schdwardten. You are WRONG! Stu Francis was right to say that he fucked up the last word. I have rewatched the episode 100 times and the other boy was a deserved WINNER. Francis was RIGHT!!
I've never been able to look at the Krankies in the same way since a friend told me that they were swingers. According to Wiki it's true! They had a very colourful sex life!
I remember watching Stu Francis' Crackerjack with the familiar Chas n Dave theme music, but NOT sung by Chas n Dave. It was sung by a bunch of kids instead. That series must've came after this one.
@@AllenJeremy I didnt know it was that late. I'm born 1976 and remember 'double or drop' I think with Stewpot just about. I thought it was super boring. When Stu took over I had a massive crush on him and loved all the gunging stuff 😘so it became my favourite programme bar none. My friend still remembers me making her watch it every week🤪🤪🤪
From this to the cinema to watch Empire Strikes Back. Kids minds must have been blown.

Great to see Bernard Cribbins and Derek Guyler was a wizard on the washboard.

Brilliant stuff! The Krankies, Deryk Guyler, Bernard Cribbins and Miriam Margoles as the laughing policewoman!
Andrew Davies glad to see someone else recognised Miriam
Yeah, it's her, uncredited, too. 😁
"and remember kids LAUGH as much as you can"...and Action!
Great to see Mister Guyler on washboard. Alas, there’s very little film of his washboard prowess.
In the lads tiebreaker I'm sure the tall kid was reading the question before stu asked it and still didn't win lol

you better see this then www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000ddhl/crackerjack-series-1-1-one
Nichola Sturgeon made a guest appearance.
In her dreams
Nah , he was on every week
Can't believe we have finally found this clip! That's my aunt Dawn!

Georgia and Ade - I love reading when this happens, especially when clips or episodes are elusive. It makes YT all the more worthwhile.
bit of a random about bernard cribbins, my family are from oldham, like bernard, my mums uncle was a friend of his in their younger days
This is great indeed. ❤❤❤❤
I saw Nookie Bear in Croydon years ago, he was really funny😊
Was he sat in a pub moaning about Roger?
my 12 th birthday when this was shown lol
The Krankies there, still disturbing as ever
thier on the list of What spoiled the 80s - alongwith Keith 'arris and the damn duck
It's terrible to think they were having it off after the shows.
I wonder what the kids who took part in this show think now when they look back at it and themselves as kids lol
Ooooo I could press the skip button
Did he say "bloody hell" at 39:41?
At 39:25, those legs on Shirley Ann Field. Awesome.
Jan: Hello boys and girls
Stu: IYA KIDZ!!
Lol. Apparently, a kid who was chosen to do Take a Letter told him to speak English. Poor Stu.

Article published in the Telegraph
Yes apparently It’s Ian used to ask Janette to dress up in her school uniform. Different times!
Their open relationship is well documented.
DJosephWells do you think a Jan would consider an open relationship. And isn’t Stuart Francis a lot more camp and less Canadian than he is now!
Crackerjack!
I love it!

It was Chas & Dave with the kids on top
I forget the announcer use to tell us which panto a programme's stars were appearing in
I pity the parents who had to sit through this crap watching it with their kids
19 December 1980
i love crakerjack in 1980
I guess this is when The Krankies were in their 'swinging' prime ........ *shudder*
Why were the women so hot back then?
They didn't shave back in those days 😄
you recorded this over SportsNight!
I used to have a crush on Jimmy Krankie, for years I thought she was a boy🤔
Preferred it when Ed Stewart presented it. What happened to Stu Francis? God, Nicola Sturgeon was on it😲
Of the two girl contestants Dawn is surely a tomboy!
so they did take a letter, but no take a chance in those days?
Take A Chance was not introduced until 1982.

No, that was after the Krankies left.
Ooh, Miriam Margolyes! Love her.

Who's the chick hosting it? 👌
Jan Michelle
@@nord1486 She's lovely.
@@TheCosmicFunker did I say she wasn’t?
@@nord1486 Eh? I didn't say you did. All I said was she's lovely.
Omg is that a boy,?
Jimmy Crankie's a Woman, right?
Steve Burstein yes mate. I suffered a lot with that as well
OMG -- she was on AbFab!! ...."the Daphne duMaurier midget" midwife when Saffy was pregnant!!!
She was on a recent thing where they re-enacted that film where those pensioners went to India
Without a doubt .... quite the shittest song EVER ?
Ughhh this show was shite. I shouldn't have re-watched this after all these years.
what about the new version?
Don't remember Jan at all. She doesn't look comfortable.
think she was only in the first stu francis series
Deryck Guyler, Dr Bernard Crippen and Miriam Margolyes as well.
