Taika as Blackbeard joining the cast is where the show really gains legs. I’m torn between wishing he was in it earlier, but on the other hand he would have overshadowed the other characters! Great video. Adding music over Lucius giving the intro in the bar got a laugh out of me
The creator said that he wanted the audience to see how Stede was on his own and introduce the crew’s dynamics before introducing Blackbeard. I think it makes sense how they did it. Upon rewatch, the initial episodes are so much better when you know where the show is going.
@@Sharpe1502 definitely agree it was the right choice. I think I struggle with the first episode or two with any show that is mostly character driven, because it's all new and unfamiliar to me, but I've been enjoying the early scenes much more on rewatch.
And in the last episode, Jim writes "I am trapped" in spanish using the male noun! And this show handles lenguages too well for it to have been a translation mistake.

This was a great episode! Stede cracks me up so much in this one. Between the 'booty hawking' scene and the way he introduces himself to the tavern I laughed a lot. I love the supporting cast as well... Some amazing humor in this show, but it actually isn't just one note and things get interesting later on. Taika is phenomenal as Blackbeard, so I'm excited to see you getting to him. Good video!
Right! The supporting cast and the dialogue made this series so much better. That "I'm actually super into that, so..." reply had me in tears for the rest of the episode. :D
Personally my favorite is buttons, he's so weird and funny, also very skilled in his field. And also he's loyal to Stede since ep 1 and i love that about him

I’m glad you watched episode 3. It really hooked me I got he series. And you’re right episode 1, 2 and some of 3 is about Stede being alone as a Captain. And we get to se the rest of the crew and their personalities. Stede is a bit like a child and he comes from a different world.

It's quite relaxing and a nice contrast to the typical reaction stuff I see where it's screaming and yelling (which, no shade, just not my speed). I am enjoying your summaries pre- and post-ep of your thoughts, and that you pull what you feel is relevant from your watches instead of showing the whole episode or your reaction to the whole episode.
